@TT1221 - OMG, couldn't agree with you more. Besides, unlike so many of the upper echelon millionaires and most assuredly the billionaires, he's EARNED every penny. He's quite the gentleman and his dancing--is beyond the gods. Can any of us imagine the amount of arduous work he's put into his talent over many, many years. Yep, don't begrudge him a thing!! So pleased, too, that he chose Ireland to buy his palace. I'm an Irish woman at heart! :) :)

Had the pleasure of meeting Michael Flatley in the states during the Celtic Tiger Tour. When he was leaving the arena just a handful of Us were standing on the sidewalk waving goodbye to him and his limo stopped! Michael Flatley steps out of the vehicle greeted and chatted with us about the show, he was the nicest ever! we couldn't believe it! Michael signed our programs took pictures with us and he signed my Tribute to America Leather Jacket in silver pin! Thank You Michael for your kindness, the very best to You!

I’m so glad he bought this gorgeous place and restored it...very few could have pulled it off, but after all he’s done for Irish dance and Ireland herself, it’s fitting that he continued it by restoring a piece of her history as well. Some say he’s nothing but a raving egomaniac, but it’s simply not true. He has worked bloody hard to be as excellent as he is and was in this art form of dance. He is simply the best in the world, and it’s a well deserved title. There’s no doubt about it though - like so many, love has smoothed out the rougher edges in him. He’s even more appealing now at his age than he was when he exploded into the public eye 30+ years ago in Riverdance.

Well said Wendy. I often feel Michael Flatley, Jack Charlton and Micheal O'Leary (like him or not) did massive amounts to bring about the Celtic Tiger. I know it didn't end well but we are well into recovery now and things will never be the same as before the Tiger.

Believe it or not Mr Flatley is from the Southside of Chicago!!! His family lived in Beverly neighborhood. He went to Brother Rice High school. I ran into I’m at a hospital in Oak Lawn, where I worked, when his father had surgery there. It was before I knew who he was. A few days after that I went to see Lord of the Dance. What a shocker for me!! He’s brilliant.

@Cristina F Are you humble enough to consider that YOU are wrong about Jesus? Could you possibly consider that Jesus is FAR FAR GREATER than your limited religious mind could possibly imagine? Do not worry about Mr. Flatley and how he is with "God"... better YOU should re-consider your own understanding. Hint: Grace, the REVEALING Power of "God" WILL ... guaranteed... smash EVERY BELIEF your finite mind has EVER held... and you will come to KNOW "God" in a whole NEW way. As for religion... it is clueless when it comes to Jesus and "God". Prepare to be humbled. Jesus came to offer (those who were currently ready) far more than heaven. Just something to contemplate... or not.

I saw this man with his super group live in Ahoy in Rotterdam (where many famous artists performed and perform) and I always thought he was a huge arrogant person (turns out that it is all show) and then you see such an interview and how lovingly he speeks about his family, especially his father AND Ireland, I have to change my opinion about him. He has worked very hard for this. Blood sweat and tears as they say. And what a fantastic building.

@MrMisterMan 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:8-12

I just read an article saying that Flatley still owns Castlehyde; pulled it from the market, because in the end, he couldn't bear to be separated from it. He feels a strong connection to the area, to the history and memories that go with the house and the land. Can't blame him. Hope he and his family continue to enjoy it.

Michael brought world focus and wonder about the great Irish nation - of which I am a proud member - with dance music and drama, and great story telling woven into it. But when you look at the wonderful dancers who carry on the stage productions that Michael started, as great as they undoubtably are, they're not Michael. It's his quiet confidence and vision and passion, and of course his amazing talent and skill that has enabled him to become the world renowned figiure he is. I raise a glass of the good stuff to ya my friend, and a wee snifter to follow. God love you and all who know you and love you...love and luck to you and family for the rest of your days.

Twenty seven million Euro to restore, and another twenty million Euro for the antiques to furnish it. And that was in 1999 values. Today's cost would have been much higher.

@@franpie2264 I agree. I believe that the ones we love and the ones who love us are never very far away. I hope his children are able to feel that too. All 3 of them are so beautiful. They lost so much when he died but they were so blessed to have him in the first place. Michael was one of only 2 "celebrities" that I've ever cried for. The other was Robin Williams. I remember that when Michael died, all I could think of was that, at least, he couldn't be hurt anymore by people who were only after what they could get from him. Blessings and peace to you!

Michael certainly seems to be a man with great instinct, respect, and humility. Whatever he does - he does with passion and perfection. His is a great talent, that he loves to share with others, and many times, gives the credit back to God for many things, he realizes his blessings, and is truly a grateful man. Any time I have heard him speak, he has always been gracious, polite and dignified. Such a far cry from the uncouth swearing and hateful rhetoric out of too may "celebrities" nowadays. Michael - I have loved you from the beginning, and you still make my heart race while watching you perform your magic - you are truly the "Lord of the Dance". P.S. - You are still a HUNK!
