They should have left once Ole resigned...it was utter disgrace that they stayed on even when Ole left !! Correct decision, too much has happened in recent times for him to continue. He remains a club legend as a player though. Maybe once he's got good experience somewhere else he'll be good enough in the future to return in some capacity. In fairness he's done well in his 3 games as manager

Wow… Massive respect to Michael Carrick. He’s taking responsibility for his role under Solskjaer’s tenure. Carrick was an inexperienced coach working under an inexperienced manager, it’s not a surprise that things didn’t work out as well as we’d have liked. He can now go on and learn his trade at smaller clubs where he’ll be afforded the time he needs. Would love to see him back at Old Trafford if and when he’s ever ready. Classy as a player, and classy as a coach 👏

Carrick did great but it was right decision by him to leave he was part of ole coaching staff.

Massive respect for him and for what he did with this broken united team ! We know it was a short period but still he did an exceptional job with unbeaten record 👏

Shows the dignity of the Man, I think he has genuinely put United first and I think a part of him maybe thought he should take equal responsibility under Ole, who knows but very gracious and dignified end to his time at United , I'm pretty certain after time spent with his family he will be back in the game as a coach and do fantastic. ❤

He's been an understudy twice already. I'm sure he told the board: _"Let me be the new manager or I'll leave."_

What a legend. Two unreal results that emphatically and truly reflect the clubs history of success and passionate football. Actually all serious I love Carrick, and loved what he gave as a player for United. Started paying attention to him at Spurs but his time as a player for Utd was his peak. 5 prem league titles. And his two goals against Roma in the 7-1 W are football beauty. Cheers

Away to Villareal with everything still to play for in the group, away to league leaders Chelsea and home to Arsenal who were in formidable form - he was dropped right in it so to come out of that with 7 of 9 points is impressive. And even more impressive, he knows its the right time to move aside and allow a fresh start and new era to begin at United. Kind fixtures until March, United are going to go on a run now and gain a lot of confidence. The fun and mockery is over.

I agree. It was common knowledge that he was being replaced as Manchester United interim manager but I fully expected him to revert back to an assistant manager / coaching staff role.

Carrick we thank you for everything but you should have left with Ole but this is a good decision

Great midfielder for the club and has potential to learn and be a good coach in my opinion. You could see what he was trying to do against Arsenal, getting the players to work harder and be more defensively solid whilst attacking on the break. Stepping away relieves the pressure of being at a huge club like Utd and I think he'll be looking to go elsewhere and learn and build some experience. Wish him well honestly.

Carrick should be in the Hall of Fame at United amongst other club legends. He as been a great player for us and one of the best in that position, and committed himself to the club for years. He as done a great job as part-time manager since the release of Solskjaer and unbeaten record also even in few games, which as been impressive in such a short time. He will be missed by myself such a humble geordie.
