David I need a favor from you I need you to stop saying Mexico has an influence in Belize when it comes to tacos. Listen closely to this. The Mayans invented the corn tortilla and the first ever Taco was the cochinita pibil created by the Mayans .. so any place that has or had Mayans will have tacos. Tacos doesn't belong to Mexico it belongs to the Mayans.

I can’t believe that so many Puerto Ricans don’t even know where the name Boricua comes from. The term comes from the Taino Indians that used to call the island of Puerto Rico Borikén (Borinquen) Prior to the arrival of the Spaniards in 1493 - which means “Land of the Valiant and Noble Lord.”

Naaaice! You went to Bajareque! I didn't see any Puerto Ricans in the back whenever I went. I had a horrible experience at Mofongo. I never went back. The waiters were just flat out rude, the fried steak was super dry and inedible. We literally couldn't eat it. The only thing that tasted good was the mofongo. But even then it wasn't spectacular. Just good. I haven't tried the Bori Food truck!

David - unrelated but when I was in Miami about 10 years ago, I came across the Holocaust memorial. I’ve seen many all over the world but this one was the most emotional, beautiful and incredible memorial to it that I’ve ever seen and experienced. First of all Puerto Ricans are a melting pot of 3 cultures. First the Taino Indian which was in Puerto Rico first, before Columbus, who acts like he discovered everything but didn't , ppl were already there the Taino when he left, Puerto Rico he left the Spaniards there with some Africans and that's how all 3 cultures mixed. . Now for the specific food David was eating you cannot compare mofongo with fufu, fufu is Casava steamed or boiled and mashed with no flavor what's so ever... mofongo is fried plantain mashed with garlic olive oil some used butter and then The meats like shrimp , fried pork chunks or the beef..and alcapuria is a banana and y yuca masa fried with meat and the last the PASTEL is ground grown veggies like yuca, green bananas, and pumpkin shredded into a paste put on a banana leaf with the savory meat in the middle we use annato seeds to color and flavor the oil we use in Pastel, and empanadas was invented in the united states because of pastelillos!!! So much more food that's authentic like ensalada de papas and pollo guisado etc!!!! And we don't eat mayo Ketchup with everything especially not mofongo with the caldo and or more garlic in olive oils sauce or el mojo mayo Ketchup is used for fried stuff like steak sandwiches and tostones or alcapuria for bacalaito more like pique it cuts on the grease of it!!!!!

Huh? Fufu isn't supposed to have flavor because it's supposed to come together as one from whatever meat and sauces are being consumed. Second, you have African culture as well in Puerto Rico not just taino. Also, all those foods and your language have influences from mainly Spain and the Caribbean. Shut your closed minded ass up.

You sound like one of those close minded Puerto Ricans. All that food y'all eat is influenced in other places especially Spain, cut it out.

If you are born in the Estado de Puerto Rico you can't vote in the general Presidential election, but you can vote for the primaries, also if you are born in the State of Puerto Rico you can run for president of the Unites States.
