I also am an outsider to the conventional minds in Lebanon and I know how hard it is when we directly or indirectly 'scratch the surface' of a traditionally-minded or a blindly religious-minded person from Lebanon (or from anywhere else), and so I support the presenters here and Mia, and I thank Mia for her intiative to help Lebanon. I am really thankful for this episode. Especially Mia Khalifa, but also all of the diaspora has a complicated and very individualistic relationship with Lebanon, I think? Sometimes, you wonder if you are Lebanese enough to feel affected by what's happening. Are you allowed? Or are you claiming something that is not yours to claim? There's a lot of guilt involved. Especially when you know your family and friends are still living there and having to have to deal with these things daily. I love her confidence and I like that she can admit her mistakes and ignorance.

Just another example of how much power & man power we have lost as Arabs because we judge instantly based on people's past & previous actions, not only that it's judging people in general based on one aspect of their lives only, just another proof there is not such thing as black & white, there is a 100 shades of grey & there is so much diamonds covered with carbons waiting to shine.

Wherever the lebanese immigrants are located around the world 🌎 they are attached to the mother land lebanon 🇱🇧. They keep carrying love in their hearts ♥️. God bless you Mia and plz forgive for those who said bad for you. It’s your life , it’s your decision. No one has the right to judge you. We love you Mia.

It's shocking how u guys see her past as empowerment what a shock. Anyway I just want to note that before Lebanon took on religion it was a very conservative country before anything else. Lebanon shares many cultural values with Asian countries even countries that are atheist. People in Lebanon today are just using religion as a mask when they see something that don't fit into their culture but in all honestly it's bc Lebanese people have a collective mindset while people in the west have individual mindset. I've seen that mindset in every country outside the western world. The collective mindset is something u will see everywhere around the world.

I come from a Lebanese Maronite family on my father's side..The woman (my Aunt's,cousins)on that side have all been strong,outspoken and lived there lives on their own terms.It may be part of the culture.It maybe their reaction to being brought up in a male dominant family culture..It takes alot to stand up and speak out from her point of view from where she's coming This is creating dialogue that is healthy..and hopefully change..

Came here from ABTalks and this was the first recommended episode. I enjoyed it and already looked through the catalog for the next in line. However, and this is not the first time Mia did this, when asked about her Hijab scene Mia deflects, deflects, deflects, plays the victim, then deflects some more. She was a 21 years old ADULT and she was the main talent for the scene. She had the power to decline and refuse the imposed depiction. She might not have realized this but the very least she should take full accountability for this. Especially now that she’s grown, matured and know better. Deflection and playing the powerless victim is not a good look on you Mia.

Yes Mia is calm and intelligent, Regarding the hijab, it's not new, there are some women with hijab for a long time they go out with their friends and they make love and sex it's rare cases that exist, except that Mia exposed this by naivete. You also mentioned the problem of virginity, this exists among the Christian Catholic gypsy community in France, also in Italy certain Italians, these people who preserved their virginity. Then, if Mia Khalifa had met other porn producer and actor, like Manuel Ferarra of French origin who shoots in America, he makes good porn, because it depends on the porn industry sometimes there are decent people who do respectful work towards female actors.

Wow this was genuinely heartwarming. I wish I knew of this podcast existing! I'm literally starved for progressive Arab outlets. It's so great to hear someone that looks and sounds like me discussing these issues from a progressive lens.. You guys made my day for real!

@@Flatoutandyy please tell me how she has grown? She has not donated any of the money fundraised to the leb red cross. Do you know what she has been doing? Going on trips, Traveling, going to the spa , and eating at really expensive restaurants with the money she kept 🤗

We must respect what others do , we care about how we can lived with that’s feelings from freedom and peace. should be thinking more about it and thats what we want on our planet 🌍

سنابات عزازي و حمد اللي سوته شي راجع لها وبينها وبين ربها، اللي يهمني هنا انها ساعدت باللي تقدر، أفضل من اللي اكتفى بالهذرة وماسوا شي، واذا على لبسها الحجاب أعتقد انها ماضرت أحد مثل ما ضر الناس اللي تسببوا في التفجير أو اللي سووه داعش والفاسدين مثلًا في ضرر للناس.

Basically shakira is half Lebanese. So when the bombing of the port happened she didn’t talk about it and all!! Not even post about it. But after a month she posted about it only after zuhair murad sent her a T shirt from the campaign “rise from ashes”

Mia is an adult and can do whatever she wants it's her body. But I won't forget when my sister was harassed in the subway for just being in hijab and wearing glasses.

Her life is her life but you bring your life to the public expect judgment after all perception is reality. She can do what she wants with her life but can’t force us to think the way she thinks or agree with her thought process

@@MiLaDoB just because it is written that doesn’t mean it is true lol I can write things and they will read them 3 thousand years later doesn’t mean it is true. That particular verse has been debunked by Christian scholars. I recommend that you read different books to expand your mind

صحيح. البرنامج مثال ممتاز على تقبل وتفهم الدعارة والإنحطاط. الإباحية هي ضد الآدمية والإنسانية. بشكل أدق هي عبارة عن ممارسة الجنس بأسلوب حيواني مجرد من الأحاسيس والمشاعر من أجل المال.

This is a great episode that scratches the surface on a lot of important topics. At some points during the interview, it felt like the criticisms of predatory industries and misogynistic cultures/societies danced around the root cause of these issues without calling it out head-on. Fuck the patriarchy.

I think and i hope this interview was healing for her❤

Yeah "healing" for her disrespecting islam and disrespecting the hijab and making it the most sexualized thing!

I'm ashamed to say i didn't know anything . I love that she is using her voice for bringing awareness to the middle east. Now that Palestinians of all ages are being murdered and I heard she was one of the few celebraties speaking up (which is a hard thing to do) so i decided to watch some of her interviews and im so glad i did.

i think i just saw mia for the first time, i mean she is so kind and sweet ,plus she is proud of being a lebanese weman , maybe she didnt do a good thinks before but i think she deserves a second chance, i really thankful to Sarde for this episode love you guys.
