From a man who went through a similar situation to another, I salute your positivity. To this day, I live in the trauma caused by the Lebanese system. The description of "heaviness" on the chest and hardship of being able to do the simplest tasks really got to me. No one can understand this. I wish you the best of luck in everything you do, Ali.

This is, by far, my favorite episode! Not only does it shatter all stereotypes and prejudices we have about incarcerated individuals, but it puts on the table an issue that we need to discuss openly now. We cannot revolt or speak of an uprising without dismantling the prison system! Thank you, Ali, for sharing your personal experience and advocating for the rights of people who are trapped in this judicial system. You speak truth to power - in EVER SINGLE WORD you uttered in this episode

Elias I completely agree with you, in retrospect I think we just enjoyed the story telling too much that we didn't cover the topics that a lot of people and prisoners might have wanted me to cover like the Islamic State's operation rooms, Homosexual discrimination, the politics of prison between inmates and guards, the medical/health situation with covid now at the forefront, and the internal tax system.

I believe - like Ali - that to change society at large, you ought to change the individual first. A good start will be by finding common values, like liberalism, compassion, equality, utmost respect for human rights, etc , we all believe in and practice daily. What's left, and perhaps the most important part here, is to develop a language - direct, honest, open. A straightforward way of communicating between individuals and communities alone will ensure true dialogues and an honest exchange of ideas and, progress towards a brighter and fairer future for us all in Lebanon. We should never shy away from calling a spade, a spade! Our politicians exploit our language and thoughts hesitancy to their malicious maneuvering and to their political and mafiosi advantage. It is ok not to be friends with people who don't fit our core values. The average Lebanese will stress out and develop social anxiety if he/she is not friends with everyone. Hence our reluctance to speak our mind freely and bending backward forward to accommodate everyone; a legacy of our Canaanites mercantile heritage sadly. Let's bury it and free ourselves.

@@alibaroudy9068 Thank you. A suggestion for you. Why don't you start a series on social and political reforms debate? you are articulate, confident and courageous. it could be a once- a-week event where you bring in two individuals with contrasting ideas about a particular theme and let your fan base hear what they say and vote - as a way to gauge moods. Sarde, for example, is about a conversation. We need more. something more biting perhaps. Think about it.

I know exactly what he's talking about. Luckily I only spent 2 weeks in a 6ftx9ft cell at the court of cassation in Baabda. Peaked with 16 people at one time. The smoking was worse than the crouching. Sad, sad affair. Most inside accused of petty crimes. I met and interviewed some of the detainees after my release. Well, forget about justice in Lebanon. You either pay for it or you emigrate. Pity that nation.

If you speak French, listen to "Au pays des droits de l'Homme ?" by Kery James (or at least read the translated lyrics, super relevant and must listen IMO). Kudos for the amazing episode. Ali is such a wise guy, and certainly learned a ton from his experience.
