[MH3U] CPU Clock Configuration Comparison

If you have a New 3DS with CFW installed you can install the above plugin to make 3DS games utilize the system's extra resources. MH3U sees loading times cut down by up to 50% and the overall frame rate is noticeably better.
The only side-effect I noticed was that the camera speed also seemed faster. Is MH3U's camera speed tied to the frame rate/clock speed or something?
Hypothesis from a friend:
"Most likely it's a "magic number" they've selected based on sampling what FPS the game runs at. They'll likely have made it so on each update cycle if you're holding the button to move the camera, it adds that number to the camera rotation. Because your game is running faster, there's more update cycles, and so the camera turns faster.
It's pretty common to do cameras like that, but also kinda ass :^). I guess they couldn't really have known the new 3DS was gonna happen."

Really interesting that the camera is tied to clock speed. Japanese devs do some weird shit with console hardware.

+RecursiveFault That's actually a really common shortcut when hardware your game runs on tends not to change, PC devs back in the day used to do this too before speeds varied so much which is why a lot of older PC games some things run too fast on newer computers.
Just think of the _lore_ implications.

And when it comes to camera, I have also noticed that the camera in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd seems to rotate MUCH faster than the camera in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Don't know if it has to do with framerates though.
I meant to push out a Brute Tigrex time this week, but I got caught up grinding expeditions for a good Shagaru Magala and Brachydios guild quest to possibly run in the future. I got what I wanted, I just need to level them up. -I also ended up deleting about 90 assorted other single monster GQs because they had awful speedrunning layouts-

+Emarrel I'd love to see your CB strats against LV140 Brachydios. I find that a lot of the tactics that work for the regular G-Rank Brachydios don't seem to work on the LV140 Brachydios, as its sped-up frenzied version means you lose a lot of openings. I can still kill him in about 14 minutes with CB, but I know that some Japanese players can get him down in 7-8 minutes.

My guess about the camera speed is that it's a feature. Like the old hardware couldn't render fast enough, so it slowed the camera?

@HaohmaruHL (please don't disable replies): considering the New 3DS is already designed to run at these clock speeds and any New 3DS enabled game is already utilizing this extra performance (like this game's sequel), it's quite the contrary.

Does this also work on the regular 3DS XL? I have Gateway on my 3DS. That's how I play MH4U. I'd love to have something that could improve the framerate. Right now, the framerate seems to hover around 25 fps most of the time. Even a jump to 40-50 fps would be so much better.

Nope. The New 3DS gets extra clock speed.
I am sad that I have a CFW O3DS but at least I have a lot of other stuff. ;_;

The camera speed isn't that big of a deal, quite easy to get used to. Good thing they didn't tie the animations and game logic to the framerate.
I always thought typical design ties most elements to the game speed. Is it noticeable while the scene is busy when you're just sitting around?

+TaliaTxT MH4U already utilizes the New 3DS's extra system resources by default. There was a lot of arguing over if the game had better textures and shadows on the device or not before solid proof got posted.

this can boost download speed?
Does MH4 or MHG take advantage of this or are they already using full speed?

They should be taking advantage of this already. Hell, 4U has its own set of textures for the New 3DS and you even see other improvements like better shadow quality.
