Wow what a scoop! My first look at these. Wow MG has all grown up and gone next level - these are fantastic looking cars that should do much to redistribute the share of both the EV pie and the EV ICE pie!

I must have said "that's an MG" about 30 times in this video. I simply can't believe how the brand has developed so rapidly. If they bring out the MG4 refresh with an interior as nice as this. It's fantastic.

Because they are not originally from the MG product line, they are actually under the Marvel brand, but overseas consumers are too unfamiliar with it, so SAIC decide to put them in MG line.

Just imagining MG models x300 = China’s EV markets. It is phenomenal how many new and wonderful EV production cars are for sale and driving on the road in China. NIO, Xpeng, BYD, IM Motor, XiaoMi, Luxeed, Avartar, AITO, GWM, Wuling, Geely, Polstar, Zeeker, Hongqi, Rowa, HiPhi, Aiway and other sub brands. I lost counts. And the best is all are half price of what we get in Europe. Sick.

Every new vehicle I’ve seen from them recently has been beautiful!

At last real car dashes. They are a great respite from the sticking up screens. Very much to my liking. It really shows what the M3 and Y are missing. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh Thanks Des

That MG S9 EV is class. Love the dash a proper dash and the best one of any modern car style wise anyway. I wonder will it ever come to Ireland do?

Yes the interior and dash are awesome...at least the screen is built in and dosnt look like an after thought sello taped on.

Mg has integrated the displays on dashboard in a very best way unlike TABLETS all over like all other brands are doing nowadays.

I agree. These large tablets are fine for EV taxis but look shite in sleekly-designed cars.

You have not tried the passenger seat in the MG SV9. It goes in business class mode.

These look very impressive Derek. I’m hoping to get a family EV next year as a company car and had my heart set on either a Model Y or Enyaq, but if these come in a bit cheaper like the other MG models, I’d be very tempted on first looks. Of course, need to see on road reviews and what the software is like, but first impressions are good - sort of like a cross between a Merc interior and a Tesla exterior. I bet Mat Watson wouldn’t get you to sit in the back of one of these - there’s loads of room!

I think Matt is invested into Tesla. Many people are and he's kinda biased towards it

WOW both the MG9 and S looks rly nice. As a tesla owner i can say these 2 are truely tesla beaters if they can deliever performance and comfort as well

La MG S9 est juste magnifique. Tesla qui voulait détrôner pas mal de constructeur, sur ce coup là ils ont vraiment du soucis à ce faire ! Ils ont vraiment bien faite la voiture. Déjà que je suis propriétaire d'une MG marvel-R et j'en suis très satisfait mais la j'imagine même pas comment elle doit être confortable à la conduite. Hâte qu'elle arrive en France pour l'essayer ❤

Had an mg4 trophy for about a year a few tweaks/upgrades as they roll and it's perfect. I knew if they went luxury it would be special.

Wow looks awesome and i am a big fan of MG. At the moment i have MG HS. Its feen very comfortable and good for the price.

Damn, these two are going to sell like hot cakes! Kia, all eu brands and tesla needs really worry now, hopefully not silly prices on these.

Tesla, removing the turn indicators is gotta be one of the least smart choices can make. I actually almost got my wife to be on board to get the Tesla and then when she test drove the new model three without indicators she just totally checked out lol. I guess I have to sell her on the old model.

There are many compelling options coming out if China. If Tesla keeps ignoring what customers want they won't be doing so well in the future. I drove the new Model 3 and found it stupid and dangerous that I could not indicate when doing a left turn and immediately a right turn while the wheel was turned while someone was behind me. Minimal is cheap. It's gone too far.

Tesla has already big problems in new markets, where they don’t have to advance for being the solely EV brand. Tesla also tends to arrogant, thinking that everyone only wants a Tesla. I am living in Thailand where the EV boom started about 2 years ago. Tesla is far behind of several Chinese companies. One reason is the price, but also a missing dealer network.

These are both in-house rebadges of the " rising auto" f7 and r9 i think from SAIC. " Inside china auto" had a video a few months back with the test drive and everything. I think wheelsboy reviewed the suv one as well. I think they were oroginalky battery swap capable.

You should go over to the Netherlands and test drive, the BYD seal u it’s been there now a few weeks there’s been a load of motor journalist test, driving it from different European countries

Would the dimensions and spec not put those in the realm of the Model X and Model S Derek????? Comparing them the the fugly Model Y and the "quite small" Model 3 is doing them an injustice, I think.

Size wise they are closer to the S and X but in China they are priced from below the model 3 and Y.

@@benrgrogan yeah, I figured they would be nowhere near the price of the X & S.... But I think comparing them to the Y & 3....does the trim, spec & size a disservice. Maybe MG would see it as a compliment....who knows.

The selling price of MG9 in China is 190000 to 240000 RMB

What great looking cars. Also the interior. Now they need to get a good functional infotainment and app, not like the crap they have at the moment and assistants who don't try to kill the passengers. And they need a really competitive price compared to tesla. Not only 2-3k less. We will see.

Mercedes hyperscreen for 1/10th the price. And looks brilliant too… wait - is this a Mercedes??

SAIC has a Wuling Starlight in China, VW Passat size, cheaper than a MG4..This so called MG9 also has a lower version Rongwei D7...

If they can bring that MG9 in at the price of a model 3 (which seems to be MG's trademark, then that is a real contender, even if all I really need is the estate version of the 4.. That is seriously nice.

@@NevoEVReviewIreland Yeah, I doubt it too. If they can keep the price near or around model 3 prices, I'll be seriously tempted. Even at model Y prices, I'd be tempted. The only reason the Y isn't interesting to me is that I'd be giving some of my money to Musk, and that just isn't going to happen, ever.

The steering wheel buttons look very Tesla 😅 But gotta say I really like where they are going with the designs and improving on quality. Also they seem to be one of only few chinese brands that really bring some cars on European streets. Just hope their infortainments improve, didn't like that too much in the MG4

Not sure why people keep on saying newly released cars are Tesla competitors. The only thing the MG9/S9 have in common with the Model 3/Y is that they are all EVs.

I think the MGS9 and MG9 are rebadge of Roewe another afordable brand as MG is such a small name in china,roewe in china MG for oversea. they look so good and really good price (in china)

These are rebadged Feifan (rising auto) models. Feifan is SAIC's semi premium brand prices above MG and Roewe

The front of the S9 reminds me of the BYD Atto 3 light pattern. All that piano black...ugh...couldn't have learned from Hyundai with their refreshed 2024 Kona EV...lots of fingerprints. No physical buttons for common use things that will be fun travelling at 110km/h trying to change something like fan speed or temp. The MG9 could be a BYD Seal competitor.

45% less efficient per kWh than a model 3 is crazy

It looks nice, but not that spectacular on the performance part. Or is just me that I think that 505 WLTP estimate range is disappointing out of 90kWh battery.

M9 Limo Looks good but much to long and to wide for me. 4750mm and 1800mm is enough.

MG9 is rather Model S than Model 3 competitor

Seem to be fairly inefficient though. A sedan should get more than 505km WLTP with a 90kWh battery in 2024. That's lower than MEB-based SUV's with 82kwh batteries...

I don't think that number is correct. The 90kWh single-motor version has a claimed WLTP range of 666 km, while dual motors will get you 600km.

Poor efficiency compared to model 3. With similar performance. 250km less range with at least 10% larger pack

This is the alternative brexit, sell a British brand to China and get a quality car back!

The first thought that came to mind was no point in buying Tesla shares now. Every one has caught up and they no longer have any advantage over the charge network, which they are opening up to everyone. 2024 is going to be an amazing year on the transition. All of the "but"s are going to disappear

I don’t think that Tesla will be very afraid !It sells because of other features which MG doesn’t have !Self driving,internet,camreras, etc.The quality is the key and Chinese car has no reputation for Quality at the top.

Looks like a big step up from MG ZS EV🤣. Interestingly, you see dozens of Teslas every day here in Poland and an MG4 maybe once a quarter. I’ve only seen a fewer than 10 MG ZS and they were all ICE powered. In short, great effort but very far from conquering continental Europe

I see MG4s here in Serbia as Taxis or corporate cars (its cheapest EV here) but regular people still dont buy EVs in my country ,they afraid off it and are 2 expensive for our standard.They are still rare , i mostly see Hyundai Ioniq 5 and maybe few Teslas
