It all comes down to pricing & keeping that range around 300kms. U have a winner, MG
Then lets give a verdict when it comes out as production.
If the car MG ZS EV has to be a super hit, this is what Hector should do: 1) The range should be 700 km on a single charge. This will reduce range anxiety while travelling interstate. 2) Price it below 16 lakhs 3) Offer 360-degree camera view on the dashboard while driving 4) Offer a solar panel roof so as to charge the batteries on the go. 5) Have a Swappable battery ecosystem, like how power banks are used for our mobiles. 7) Start a subsidiary which offers loans for this car for 15 years.

MG has to work on its alloy wheel choices!
Like diesel cars; if not driving much electric cars can be expensive to maintain. This so since batteries need regular charging and discharging to last long and they cost a packet to replace. So for people who drive less petrol is a wiser choice economically still. We can all debate which is better for the environment, but ultimately it depends on what is the country’s renewable energy ratio in the total electric energy produced. Electric cars should be compulsorily sold with a solar panel is my take on it to save the environment!

215/50 R17... MG are you freaking kidding me, that low profile tyre and a stiff suspension on Indian roads, will give good business to the orthopedicians of our country
@ravikantreddy1

Yes, low profile tyres are back-breaking. Those are good only on super smooth roads and stiff suspension is only good for high-speed driving. Our 70 kph speed limit imposed by law and 50 kph speed limit imposed by prevailing maddening traffic situation on most roads makes no sense for Ferrari / Lambo like low profile tyres.

I still feel firm on the fact that India is not ready for EVs and it will not be a big market. we lack basic infrastructure and for this there will be certain zones. For those zones there will be less cars which means it is an expensive affair.
Hey, any thoughts of Tata Nexon EV. Seeing this and promise of EVs, Nexon will again seems to hit the home run with Value for Money EV car in India by 2020. Any thoughts or views ?
Electric car will be hit in india. Nxt 3 yrs all petrol pump will hav Charing port and refreshments facilities for driver and occupants 😲😉. Hope luxury car gets their electric car soon in india.
What is the ground clearance value ?
It's good to see electric vehicles are picking up,definitely they can replace pollution making diesel engines with their torque numbers. Petrol engines are yet to survive another 20 years at least. Planning to book KIA SELTOS GTX+ in a month or two and as mentioned in this video my next car will be an EV once infrastructures, spares and maintenance costs are in check(May be five years down the line)!
There is tons of difference between Feels like premium and premium -at last it’s a Chinese brand hiding under MG badge. They (Chinese) copy from all brands and model , be it mobiles or TVs or domestic appliances. So AUTOMOBILES are no exception. But They very well know how to tap Indian ( in fact global above middle case people) mentality ( proven in case of xiomi & Oneplus ) so MG will get sales like rocket - and rest is assured - hope you got what I mean ..🤓

Hello How much this car?

Am a Tata Nexon EV owner. Have driven this car 5000+ KMs till now with more of highway driving. Am sharing my experience with EV. Mileage to be considered for Tata Nexon EV is only 150 KMs with AC on and drive freely like petrol cars, it is nowhere near 312 KMs as claimed by Tata. On drive mode, I get 190 KMs on limiting my speed to 70-80 KMs/hr. with AC on, only driver (no load) on highway. Forget about the sport mode, have never dared to test it! Battery onboard AC to DC charging module is to accept only 3.7kW, Hyundai Kona has 7.4kW. Charging time reduces by half and company can go upto 11kW charging easily without much additional cost. A Tata representative have been appointed to all Tata dealers to promote EVs. Sadly not the one expected from Tata, this guy also went on assuring of getting a minimum of 240 KMs. on highway with AC on and full load. Difference between the real world and ARAI standards mileage should be considered to 50% of what ARAI standards give to EVs! Nexon EV has been given only a single parking brakes option (hand brakes), and not 2-3 braking options like in petrol car. I feel this is a major safety compromise made by Tata. On putting off car, it automatically switches to neutral mode making it necessary you apply parking brakes else, the car might move! Nexon doesn't have a "hill lock" function, on gradients you have to be very careful, as you release brakes car starts moving backwards! On comfort levels car is good. There are minor issues which I am sure will get corrected in next service. Tata dealers suck. I bought car from Puneet motors, Malad, Mumbai. This dealer didn't give a test drive inspite of umpteen requests made; went all out to get full advance from me while the car was yet in Tata Motors, Pune. Activated my car sim afyer about 45 days of buying the car! Forget about many small issues like no signed copy of invoice, chassis no. on fasTag, 5 no. alloy wheels mentioned in invoice whereby you get only 4... I have been to lots of harrassment by this dealer right from I purchased this car. Tata doesn't seem to have control on their dealers. If we compare with Mercedes who have launched an EV recently with a battery pack of 80kW, claiming only 240+ KMs. on full battery. Tata Nexon has only 30kW battery! Tata should go the German way. After all this is the impression we all have for Tata, an "honest" company. They make Mercedes Benz for India! By what I have learnt from my first EV, my next EV would be: 1) 1000 KMs mileage claimed by company (so that I can get atleast 450-500 KMs. "Drive like petrol cars" mileage; 2) 0-100 KMs/hr. in about 7 sec. in normal drive (Nexon gives 9.9 in sports mode, drive mode is super boring); 3) 11kW onboard AC charging capability module, 3.7kW in Nexon takes whole 10 hrs. to charge!; 4) OTA software updates, why should I visit service center just for an update?
Looks better than hector. Should have an IC version of the same.
Good Cars !!!

This is one electric vehicle I would love to buy. It's pretty good. I hope they don't make any changes it this car when they launch it in India.
It looks more like a Mazda instead of Tivoli. That grill seem to have lifted straight from one of the Mazda. Still, not really an exciting product.
Not convinced, i am not a Tata loyalists but in this comparison, hope Tata Nexon EV is far better value, little less power, little less range but difference is too small and can be managed considering the potential price gap of atleast 5 lakhs!

I'm done buying diesel / petrol cars. My next car is certainly going to be electric. Six biggest pluses of EV, (1) 0 to 100 kph timing is generally 6 to 7 seconds, that is, it beats many 50-60 lakh petrol diesel cars (2) I read somewhere EV has only 20 moving parts as opposed to 2000 parts in a fossil fuel car. This means less parts to replace/service. (3) per Km cost of only 80-90 paise whereas petrol/ diesel cars cost 8 to 10 rupees per KM. (4) No 10 year/ 15 year old diesel petrol car scrapping rule. (5) parts replacement is very modular, like pulling out a blown RAM from a CPU and plugging in a new one. No greasy messy hands, oil leakages, engine heating, coolant leaking, radiator blowing. (6) No sound vibration. Silent even than best of petrol car. What more do you need? My advice, just hang on to whatever petrol/ diesel car you are driving and upgrade to EV by 2020 to 2021. Charging stations take hardly anytime to come up. It's not gas pipeline to dig up trenches and bolster up with blast-proof protection. Remember how STD phone booth sprang up everywhere in 90s and how internet centres sprang up almost overnight in late 90s?
