"for weirdness, the mexican jumping bean is hard to beat" the makers of this video clearly took that as a challenge
I thought the presentation was creepier than the idea...

The BBC shows are usually some of the best things to watch while stoned... this one I imagine wasn't. There's always Fraggle Rock though...

Acid would be way worse.
Me and my brother have raised some of these we found in San Antonio, Texas. We thought they were dead so my brother cracked one open to see if the grub was still inside. Sure enough he was, and in a day he sewed up a wall to fill in the crack my brother made when he opened it. They are such amazing creatures!
I pretty much agree. Seems like it would have been a nicer video if the toys were not crushing the beans. But I do however see that the person who posted the video was trying to show that the mexican jumping bean is resilient.

I think they did the crushing on purpose to show how it repairs itself
This is one of the most elaborately cinematic tutorial on the Mexican Jumping Beans! Thank You BBC World! 🕯🕊🌷🌍♥️

Memories of when I was little when my mom would call me the little mexican jumping bean because when I would sit I would never be able to sit still! ^_^
Whose idea was it to sell possessed beans as toys?
@kimeryn7837
9 жыл бұрын
They aren't exactly possessed, because they aren't beans. They are called beans because they look like beans. It is surgically a hard shell that forms around the egg after it's laid, at least that's what I heard.

jaira hood Shells created by the larvae, and not the result of eggs being laid into a nut? Are you sure?

I heard it on a website, I didn't check another one to make sure, so not 100% sure. Maybe 66%
@paraic9163

Your both wrong, they are seeds and the Moths lay the eggs in the fruit and hence the seeds. Then the caterpillar feeds off the seeds until its ready

This is a masterpiece.
This is one of the coolest videos ever.
Damn !!! this lil documentary was seriously creepy....!!!
This video scarred me and my brother for life.
This is hilarious xD, but some of the dumping parts are kinda cruel D:
did any one else cry when the toy rolled over the poor little jumping bean? :(

Always thought they were worms trying to get out, didn't realize they would close it up if broken.
I remember getting these as a kid but I never knew where it came from or why they stopped jumping after a few days

Haha glad to see I'm not the only one who looked this up after watching 'An Idiot Abroad'. They're quite interesting really, now I understand why Karl kept asking about them.
The toys are in reference to the Mexican Jumping Beans being sold as a "kid's toy" or novelty product. They are often found in fun shops/prankster stores. The British have a very dry sense of humor as well.
Imagine waking up in a bucket full of these

+Omicron_ they are adorable. I have one and it's still alive after 2 years. I cut the bean open thinking it was dead ☹
karl pilkington is amazing n i think mexico is the best one ! i was crying wiv laughter xD
Weird video, but awesome!
That doll at the start creeps me out
I used to buy these in Vermont. So much fun!
what cool video/camera work in these videos...very talented production to go with super cool stories....way to go!
Yes, I'm watching it now. Thanks Karl!
I bought some once at a store and they seem to be really jumpy :) the caterpipllars will pupate and it wont jump at the time. then when i came back from school their was a whole in the jumping bean with a dried skin attatched to it. then i saw a small moth flying around the room. pretty kool, but you cant really keep them as pets.
Amazing Nature
Amazing!
Very neat video!
I heard about this first in "An Idiot Abroad" show (season 1, episode 4). It's a show produced by Ricky Gervais, and it's very funny in my opinion.
Dude, thats awsome, i kinda want some now 0.0
I remember buying Mexican Jumping Beans at the candy store as a kid. The thought of it now grosses me out.
creativity on its peak
wow, i saw this ages ago!
I know they're just moths, wouldn't this be an invasive species problem?

amazing
I always wondered how jumping beans jumped. Now I want some.
GTA SA brought me here when Cesar kept saying "What do you think, I'm a Mexican jumping bean? Closer!" during the mission "Highjack"
God this is so annoying to watch. All the noise and camera cuts gets totally on my nerves. Why can't one make a little spot about jumping beans more quietly and slower? I mean this is getting on me nerves, I can imagine what it does to the eyes and brain of a child.

Great video. Wish it was higher quality.
“No animals were hurt in this video”
nicely made video
@Kieerrr lol same. Loved the show.
The weirdness of the Mexican jumpping bean is easliy bested by this video.
Pretty cool
When I opened one up as a kid I freaked out because I didn't know the larva made it bounce. I just thought it was in there...
While this was interesting to watch, I bought mine at the dollar tree to be able to bond in raising creatures I would otherwise have had no interaction with. These creatures are harmless and deserve to be treated with gentleness. They are a wonderful symbol of life, change, and overcoming difficulties, all of which are commonly overlooked. Although they can protect themselves with a wall of silk, often times, crushing the seed will kill them and/ or cause permanent brain damage. This is unkind.
LOL love the massive crushing of jumping beans!

Some little child buys that bean thinking it's just a toy that runs on batteries inside or something, and then a caterpillar comes out.
heh i remember i had one of those too a long time ago
I just got some today!!!!! 3 from Dollar Tree!!!
Good looks cozy I was looking for an Apartment >_
the last part where the creepy doll looks at the camera and smiles is the scariest thing ever! omg!
