Mewing before and after | 2+ Years of tongue posture exercises

2 years + of mewing: my personal experience of working to improve my tongue posture. In this video I talk about the benefits I have received from mewing which are related to my appearance, posture and overall health. I will also show you some before and after pictures so that you can see my personal mewing transformation.
In this video I also explain that breathing through your mouth is unhealthy, and that mewing can correct this overtime. Finally, I give you some tips and a demonstration about how you can mew too!

    This is very helpful information. I didn't know that this was a concept, mewing, but now I can relate it to some YT tutorial I watched long time ago. One of the advices in order to look better in a photo was to do that with your tongue so your profile would look instantly better. I'm definetely putting this into practice since the improvements can be clearly seen in your photos. Thanks a lot for sharing!

    Best explanation of how to mew that I've come across thus far. When you said the tongue's proper place is in the "cave" part of the roof of the mouth it finally "clicked" for me. I hope it's not too late for me to experience some positive results from mewing. :)

    That's awesome, Jade. I started mewing spontaneously a few weeks ago but I'm not aware that I was mewing until watching your video. The reason is that I mewed for the purpose of practicing my singing skills, to aim for a better breath and voice. I noticed that lifting my tongue to attach my palate makes more room for my mouth and relaxes my neck muscle. It turns out that this is a popular face training, and your facial changes and vocal improvement assure me to keep on with this habit. Nice sharing!

    Look the tip of our tongue is supposed to touch the palate of our mouth most of the time. Our energy system just designed to work this way. Doing this you complete the circle of two main channels of energy transportation in the body.

    Never knew that this was a thing. This is first time hearing about this. You know I noticed there might be something ofd with my tongue postion but for totally different reason, namely the pronounciation of r in British English as opposed to the r in American. There's like a tongue difference in the two. Also regardless of the different pronounciation styles I wanted to know why there's a cleaner feel in the way some people on screen speak( in news for example). This could be related to it. It feels there's a clearer flow of air. I was been here before. I was just stopping by. Now I'm glad I revisited your channel. I'm subbed to a lot of these English learning type channels. I also independently always wanted to know about a tongue exercise..hey we workout all other muscles, why not the tongue!( I thought). I might have this problem. I never thought about it. I always had bad posture as a kid. PS: that cleaner pronounciation some speakers have I'd think i can say there's voice feels like it's comming from "their centre or something" like their chest area(This goes for any language). This category of people I haven't found to mutter or mumble words but when they speak people listen ( relatively speaking)

    i hope my question will be answered. is my jaw, cheeks and tongue supposed to feel sore after practicing this habit? or is it a sign i'm doing this wrong? i've been a mouth breather ever since so is it maybe because it's a new thing so that's why i just feel very uncomfortable and sore.. i feel like i will have a hard time sleeping because i will be very consicious and tense. how many days will this take to feel used to this habit?

  • @JadeJoddle

    @JadeJoddle

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is a good question. Yes, you can get a lot of tension in your jaw if you mew in a very hard manner. You could incorporate some facial massage and try doing it more softly. It takes many years to get the full adjustment. I will eventually do another video on this topic. Extra note: your mouth should not be sore in the sense of having an ulcer or other kind of inflammation. The soreness is the pain of teeth and bone having pressure put upon it.

    So, is it like your tongue has been shaped by a butter curler and kind of rolls back but the tip touches the top of your palate, or is it more like you are retracting your tongue, and trying to raise as much of the compacted length of it up against the roof of your mouth as you can??

  • @JadeJoddle

    @JadeJoddle

    2 жыл бұрын

    Eventually the tongue should sit low in the mouth, retracted where it pushes against the palate to form a seal. You might not be able to do that at first though because the jaw must realign first.

    Things like nose & forehead not without surgery. But you can improve face composition / profile with jaw techniques & tapping & facial workouts. Also losing excess weight helps if appropriate. Cut down on salt helps with puffiness.

    Hi Jade. My name is Xavier, I love art. I have been studying English intensively for more than three years. I feel that it is super hard to learn it, because when I look suddenly I have already forgotten a lot of vocabulary and I have to learn it again. But I'm going to do it without a doubt. I'm also very stupid. My memory only learns what it likes, it does not give for more. But I have to tell you that when I met you a few days ago I like it and I pay close attention and I don't forget what you teach, so I learn. I don't know, I always dreamed of an Alice that doesn't exist, she was only born in my imagination many years ago. I've never found her, of course, I'm an idiot, I thought that by dreaming her too much she would one day appear in reality. Well, who cares. The funny thing is that when I see you I imagine that she would be like you, because that is the style that fits with that imaginary Alice. All this that I wrote you is using the translator, because otherwise I feel that it would be impossible. Thanks for your science of teaching so well.

    ...It had been a busy day, the "Lucky Shoes" had a lot of visitors, and she was tired after her usual shift at the store, but the thought of creativity gave her strength. She went into her room, took out her paints, spread out her brushes, and began to search in her imagination for the missing details of the unfinished portrait. After almost an hour of work on the canvas, a kind young man of pleasant appearance looked at the world. As she paused, there was a knock on the door, and a moment later her mother entered the room. -Good night, dear Alice, you're still up, it's getting late, - yes, Mother, I'm just finishing up. - You keep drawing your hero, wouldn't it be better to start dating a real guy? -Yes, Mum, maybe so, but I feel like I haven't met my love yet. - Oh, my dear Alice, I love you and wish you nothing but happiness, let me give you a hug. So what is the name of your imaginary character who looks at us from the portrait? - His name is Xavier, and I hope that one day I will meet him in reality...

    If I put my tongue down low like it was before, it presses uncomfortably hard against my teeth now because my jaw has moved forward as a result of these exercises. I find that the position changes overtime, but always some element of intention is involved to keep it there. Much like how the effort to stand up straight is intentional.
