@SamAndrew27 they ARE. Totally right, and I also agree with @juneyoon4432 about the amazing guitar tones! PUSCIFER tend to use that similar guitar tone, and drum and bass sound, but MEW have been doing this since 3 DECADES ago!!... I love Puscifer, don't get me wrong. These guys have always had something "special" and I don't mean that as a pun. They are just brilliant... The drum beat on "Palace", intentionally played triplets where there should be 16ths or 8th notes, is one hell of a groove to pull off, when your bassist and guitarist are playing straight 8ths.
That guitar tone is amazing
Mew, the most underestimated band in the world. Lets have some stadium tours in the uk boys!!

Surely there's a lot playback in this version! -only a tinytiny slight bit of that microphone is turned on. They have done much much better with playing for real
Still the best live band I think I've ever seen, The Glass Handed Kites Tour was just from a different planet. Painstaking arrangements in terms of sound and stage
Mews genre would be: beautiful. Nothing but beautiful. Such emotion. Such truth. Such passion. I can't wait for their 2013 release.
Still coming back to find mew clips to this day - pure love for them and their music!
Mew never die🖤
These two songs, beautiful performances and technical presentation. Mew is really great.
Coolest band ever!! Fuxking Rocket to me!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I find this music so soothing and happy. It was a refreshing experience to discover Mew for a guy like me who almost listen to nothing but heavy music. I will search for more music like this. :)
So awesome to see & hear that Danelectro baritone guitar...
Perfect line up!!!!
Amazing vocals here!!
This is the Best live version of zookeeper's boy, so far.. Everything is fit in its place and so detail and dynamic. Thank you for the video.

Their sound live is exellent! I love this band!!
Mew It's my favorite band, and I have always heard them just on album version, but GODDAMN! They sound a thousand times better live!!! I just wish to see them playing live, then I could die happy :D
Went here because i miss Bo... like,A LOT!
no me canso de decir que este es mi vídeo preferido y más por la transmisión qué hace bo
(you cant say no.) to mew's music.
A modern band that is contemporary to 17th century culture.
Nick Watts is Mew's secret weapon
JONASSSS TE AMO!!! eres hermosoo todo tu
ufffff Mew es la mejor banda del mundo....son unos señores profesionales, mis respetos :)
Such an amazing band
Its so amazing how the sing and play on live and i also by the way liked the transition from song to song!! Keep it like that mew'!!
Thanks for the upload man ..
SO GOOD.
they are amazing
That bass on zoo keepers boy is straight out of genesis lamb lies down on Broadway album. Hadn't noticed before. Awesome reference points on Glass Handed Kites
Ci sono momenti in cui ho bisogno di ascoltarli......
SO GOOD!!!!!
OOGGgG excelente!!!!!! impresionante!!!!
Oooohhh, que recuerdos me ha traído esto T.T, de la vez que vinieron a México. Excelente banda, de las mejores que podrán existir. De las mejores que hacen perfectas actuaciones en vivo!!. :P
I'm speechless.
This is THE BEST!
AMEWZING
Same thing happened to me and it opened a whole new world of music :)
Basically conveyed my whole experience.
You're special You're like rocket through me Oh, you're special You're a rocket to me And I cannot this time Agarina You can't say no Agarina This time you will go You're special You're like a rocket through me Oh, you're special You're a rocket to me And I cannot this time There's a taste that you can't shake But you can't seem to let them go awry I know you're special You're a rocket to me At this surprised All the time I know what you said to me And I don't care at the same time But I'll take you up and down Address it to you Honey bee I know what you said to me And I don't care at the same time And what do you stay to do? I saw the worst of you
fucking amazing performance i've always wonder when they gone to bring a descent version of the album on live, and this is it great vocal progression on all the members
when smth comes from the bottom of man's heart u always feel it, though its quite banal....but this is really very, very good and...this is beautiful
I hate when groups feel that they have to downplay the progressive nature of their music in order to gain rock media credibility. The music is great and stands on its own.

Had that same feeling, their music will outlive all their critics, both good and bad
Crikey - those vocal harmonies are something else! I wish my band could aspire to that quality.

I think a lot of those harmonized parts are synced to a click they play to i.e. prerecorded. Still amazing harmonies though.

Special Boys
PUUF! :) You are so "special" :).
Bo Silas i like
I miss Bo :(
Has someone desciphered, vocal track by vocal track, what does they sing in the chorus of Zookeper's Boy? Long live Mew!
I think I know 'Special' better than I know myself c:
WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS.
I think when they hear prog rock they are thinking Yes/Genesis/ELP prog. I would just classify progressive/experimental music as music that can't quite be catagorized.

i´d love to see them, but i live in Mexico so its probably never gonna happen. You are lucky!
Why catalogue the music they do? I think its beautifull music to listen to sing to relax to understand the lirycs, I listen Mew since not much of a year, it feels so nice, it sounds so nice. Why catalogue something like that. They gift us emotions thru music thats all.
Did a dog bark at 9:20??

So cool. Who else loves Bo and his sunglasses?
@drcroc2 sounds like he has the higher harmony recorded
@xWolfensteinx777 his toms are pretty fucking big
it seems Bo fed up with the 'Special' guitar riff intro...I remember in the BTS video of this album when Bo said that the riff will be freakin pain in the ass to play live ;D

mew we ya me gustan (= special
I can't believe he calls it pop. There's nothing mainstream to it, and most of their work before "No More Stories ..." is more rocky than most rock. I mean, listen to "and the glass handed kites"; that's progressive, alternative rock, quite heavy at times.

Hence progressive pop
I understand the whole "prog" thing.... There are some awkward rhythms amongst other things.

MEW MEW I'AM FRENGERS :D :D AND YOU??
NOOOO!!! Why is the backing track so damn loud?! :( He's one of the best live singers around today but they totally drowned him out!

The vocals, much like on the album, were mixed evenly because, at the end in particular, they are meant to be a wash of sound. There is no singular voice to focus on. Happens that way in a lot of songs - not so uncommon.
@Mangomann

The contributions of the musicians playing instruments are *not* "the backing track!" They're not simply backing up a vocalist!! All, including the vocalist, are equal participants in the songs.
Sorry Bo, but this is as progressive as it gets. Except for No More Stories which was even more progressive. Incredible compositions!
Perhaps progressive pop?
They never aimed for a progressive image, they've always aimed for a pop music scene, but albeit one with more technical ability. Honestly, their songs are rarely prog, and much more shoegaze, if an influence must be stated. Mew is just Mew!

I find some of Their songs on this album progressiv
Who else came here from reggaeton?
