@SamAndrew27 they ARE. Totally right, and I also agree with @juneyoon4432 about the amazing guitar tones! PUSCIFER tend to use that similar guitar tone, and drum and bass sound, but MEW have been doing this since 3 DECADES ago!!... I love Puscifer, don't get me wrong. These guys have always had something "special" and I don't mean that as a pun. They are just brilliant... The drum beat on "Palace", intentionally played triplets where there should be 16ths or 8th notes, is one hell of a groove to pull off, when your bassist and guitarist are playing straight 8ths.

I can't believe he calls it pop. There's nothing mainstream to it, and most of their work before "No More Stories ..." is more rocky than most rock. I mean, listen to "and the glass handed kites"; that's progressive, alternative rock, quite heavy at times.

The vocals, much like on the album, were mixed evenly because, at the end in particular, they are meant to be a wash of sound. There is no singular voice to focus on. Happens that way in a lot of songs - not so uncommon.

They never aimed for a progressive image, they've always aimed for a pop music scene, but albeit one with more technical ability. Honestly, their songs are rarely prog, and much more shoegaze, if an influence must be stated. Mew is just Mew!
