They're actually pretty easy to kill. Either two grenades, a full charged Helsing or a few loads of Shambler to the face does the trick.

At first it is scary but after playing through a few times I remember the patterns and know when to move and its not scary anymore and it became easy. To kill a librarian takes two Sticky Grenades.

Hate to say but maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing. last light wasn't as good it was ok but not fantastic.

It really grinds my gears seeing Artyom's sleeves constantly changing between skins for no logical reason.

I mean getting the good ending is hard in a blind playthrough cause you only get subtle hints pointing to the dark ones being peaceful. Still a great game with a great story but, there's no way you can know. I'm sure most of players playing the game for the first time got the "bad" ending.

Every time I restart the story I get the good ending. Even if I don't plan on getting it, I still do. Which means that I'm... A good person?

For those wondering in the book Artyom realizes at the last possible second that the Dark Ones are trying to communicate. He realizes that they mean no harm just as the missles arrive.

not really. to me its the awesome explosion ending. you know what's a bad ending? killing hundreds of people and forcing half a dozen good men to die for you so you can sit back and say "eh, i guess they're not so bad after all."

tbh im more annoyed that the good ending is blocked by arbitrary side quests... i knew that i didnt want to kill the dark ones (considering the first one you meet helps you through the anomaly by pulling you through the gate/door), but because i didnt give some shitty kid a bullet i cant get the ending.

I mean why would they make Artyom hallucinate if they could just kill him? In the bad ending if you choose to kill them they try to mindfuck him into falling off the tower to his death. If they could control his mind like they show it would be easy to shoot himself or wander into a mutants mouth. They're clearly trying to communicate.

I only ever played Last Light, got me into the series, but even from the intro I still thought they were good

I actually got this ending on my first try and I felt sooo well about it, kinda mad it's non cannon because in my opinion Artyom would not have done killed the dark ones, at least that's how I felt about his personality through the games, he's always seeing the good on pretty bad people like Pavel, and will always exhaust any option before turning to violence. And also because Artyom really looks up to Khan (you can tell from diary entries) and Khan is always telling him to think rationally and to understand that evil is basically just a perspective.

This is one the most immersive games I have ever played. I listened very carefully to what Khan said, and during a certain vision one of the dark ones actually helped Artyom move forward to the light by grabbing his arm and pushing him. I knew at that point that these beings aren't actually hostile. Then right after Hunter gave his revolver and said "If it's hostile, you kill it." I knew that was another hint for me, so I waited and didn't shoot the Dark One. My idea was to wait and see if it's hostile or not, because I haven't encountered a dark one that actually harmed me intentionally before the final sequal. And then, Artyom fell from the tower, this disappointed me greatly. Then I searched online if there will be an actual choice later on in the game, but it turns out the "good ending" was locked behind a unique and scripted set of deeds that no one would have anticipated. I gave a bullet to anyone who was in need of one, I didn't even take the bullet one of the women gave me for saving her son. I tried to use stealth as much as possible but turns out you need to search online for exactly what you should do in order to get the good ending, instead of actually being a good person without knowing that payoff. There should have been an option at the end of the game during the countdown, like we have seen a couple times during the game (For example: LMB=Ready and RMB=Not Ready). Nonetheless, this is still one of the most immersive games I have played. 4A Games've managed to do something absolutely fascinating, now they only need to look back and improve what they can for the upcoming Metro game. If they manage to improve the right aspect of the game, there is a huge chance that it will be a game that will influence the gaming community for years to come.

I'm pretty sure they interfered a lot in peoples thoughts throughout the Metro and actually made them lose their shit while in the middle of fights against Nosalises and other "lesser" mutants. I mean, why were they popularized as being this evil? They probably shouldn't have revealed themselves, or at least tried to evolve as a civilization somewhere else. I mean, it's too much of a risk for whats left of humanity to take. That's actually one of the points that I like most about this game, the Nazis aren't "racists" in this game, they're looking for "genetic purity" (which is even worse), the thing is everyone can be made a mutant if they want to. Artyom and the entire Metro look at the Dark Ones and don't give them a chance the same way the Reich grew their hatred and got paranoid to the point where they're killing actual people if they decide he/she is mindless mutant.

csgptg I want to go the cannon route for the second game, but it's an absolute bitch to get the real ending.

Played both, found redux better for graphics and maps. Possibly the only disappointment is with the end cutscene being the original and not touched up and so it looks out place in redux

There is no fact in it. While in the game they are 'friendly', what if in the future they betray the humans? I still think that they shouldn't be on Earth, and it's good they got eradicated. It's based on player choice on which is better. It's all opinion, not fact.

getting the ending is honestly more about exploring and doing everything you can, and any time you have a choice do what is more altruistic.

But, I came to realize that the strage visions that haunted my journey were their attempts to reach out to us. I don't know if I was the firts to communicaate with them, but I will not be the last. Thy are amongus now. And the future- Our future- streches before us like an endless Metro tunnel.

It´s interesting that i did everything to get the good ending, like playing on stealth, giving people ammo and stuff like this, but i didn´t get a chance to destroy it anyway. I feel scammed

To achieve the enlightened ending you must gain as much moral points as possible and not gain negative moral points. its pretty tricky since you need to be stealth all the time in order not to trigger any of the negative points.

Neither ending played for me. Just cuts to the main menu after shooting the bastard.

Killing the Dark Ones was the good ending to me. So many lives lost to put an end in this, Artyom. wtf

The Dark ones wanted peace. They just naturally made people go mad which then made them unable to form a peaceful connection until young Artyom went to the surface and was attacked. The Dark Ones saved him and formed a connection the gave him resistance against their natural maddening energy so he can form a peaceful connection between humans and dark ones when he is older, but when he became older, he forgot his purpose and when he was saved. The dark ones entered the Metro, everyone, including Artyom, thought they were evil. If they wanted you dead, they could have made you shoot yourself of they wanted. Instead, they try to communicate. They give you visions of the past, such as children playing in the playground.

my ending always ends up with the dark ones destroyed, it doesnt give me a chance to shoot the laser device

While they did fix he game, I still had my issues with it. Besides the tour-guide epidemic issue, I got stuck at the tower since there's not a final rest-point since I lacked the supplies to reach the final end. The sub-titles didn't help either since they only appear in a flash and not for NPC because they had some interesting elements as well. Im glad that they made the enemies harder to fix the Difficulty, but they really needed to fix some of their other issues.

20 or so white flashes, 1 red flash Still got locked into the bomb ending, so I guess Here I am :)

although i understand the good ending i prefer the bad one sine it is cannon and since it left me a bit better since i worked so hard through out the game to achive this and this ending kinda underminds my efforts.

yeah i realised this later, but it took a while till i found out how to charge it, i thought it was broken. i know hardcore ranger is meant for players who have played this before but still ... i wasn't going to play it more than once anyway

Is anyone having a problem when it try’s for the cutscene it doesn’t do it and it goes back to the menu?

No matter which ending I choose, I'm unable to get a cutscene to play. The second I shoot the designator or let the misses fall I just get brought back to the main menu.

Man i really was hoping for a longer cutscene. I just beat the game and got the good ending in the regular metro 2033 on xbox360. I feel totally jibed by it. All those hard ass levels for some bullshit ending.

+stryfetc1 pussies, i stood my ground and killed every librarian bastard that tried to kill me after I looked him in the eyes. a Molotov and some shotgun shells where good enough.

I have a problem with the bad ending i get the dialog the missiles are in flight then my screen goes black and it goes back the main menu if I remember in the original not redux you watch the missiles hit.

I did the exact same thing, I waited until it said two then fired. But no cutscene was given to me.

Why did Artyom have to shoot it instead of just turning it off?

It's the canon ending, but in the game the absence of a choice means you failed to gain enough "Moral Points" in game via searching, conversing, and stealthy play.

i shot it ten times and it didnt fall, why ?

For some reason, this ending gives me a really unsettling feeling. If war breeds war, how do we stop it? I’m from America and I know my country has done some very questionable things in regards to interventionism but does that mean that in order to stop war we should do nothing? Just let North Korea and ISIS walk all over? Or does that mean we should build more schools in other countries instead of sending more troops and weapons?

i find it off that i only killed 3 or 2 soldiers during a stealth sequence and i knocked out the rest, gave a bullet to a sick person, knocked out about everyone yet i still got hte bad ending, what did i do wrong? also how do i know this video is the redux version because your watch and arms look absolutely different here, while the redux you have gloves and actual watch

Wth, I did it and the guy was lying there just like in the video but instead of "10 seconds to fire" it just said target acquired and I got the normal ending. Help???????????????

Possibly because the developers figured that most people had gotten the bad ending or it was allready decided that the bad ending was canon so the whole theme of almost no hope in the second game is even more fitting

Honestly, don't bother. Not worth the trouble. There's such a tiny difference between good and bad endings and the good ending is non cannon anyway

1.) knock-out enemies instead of killing them whenever possible (this is only necessary in Redux) 2.) also just use stealth whenever possible, as much as possible 3.) stay and listen to certain ambient NPC conversations all the way to the end 4.) do little secret things in the levels, e.g. take Hunter's postcard when he briefly offers it, strum the guitar in Artyom's room, don't steal MGRs laying around in the stations when they appear belong to other people, talk to Alex before you leave Exhibition, crouch and listen to pipes in the Lost Tunnels, give MGRs to beggars, et cetera... there are many hidden opportunites 5.) there are also hidden opportunities to lose morality points already gained, although not many, e.g. shooting the Dark One crouched over a corpse in the Dead City, shooting a Howler mother protecting some cubs in Dead City, refusing to give the kid a bullet when he offers to lead you to Bourbon in Riga

2salzig2spucknapp When you sneak up on them and get the stealth takedown prompt, hit X instead of B (on a 360 controller, using in-game Preset 3). I don't know the default keys for a keyboard/mouse setup. Whatever it is, it's definitely *not* your normal knife key, as that will be for the lethal takedown. On Ranger Hardcore, you might not actually get that prompt, because that mode completely disables the HUD.

Can someone tell me if the good ending has any influence on how the sequel (Metro Last Night) unfolds ? Or does Metro Last Night always start presuming the player chose the previous game´s bad ending ?? Edit: Okay, so I researched it. Yes, the sequel occurs AS IF the player had chosen the `bad` ending. Too bad. Some games, such as Dragon Age series build upon the player´s choices in previous games.

Metro is based of the books and in the books artyom just let the nuke launch So actually this ending is canon as in last light you have to get moral points same as 2033 to get the good ending the bad ending in last light is canon. so here exodus comes on and i hope to see the son of artyom

Aren't the dark ones evil tho I mean they can kill you during gameplay

They are peaceful and don't actually intend on killing people. Their psychic abilities harmed humans who then thought that the Dark Ones were evil, but the Dark Ones didn't know their abilities were hurting people. They wanted to end the conflict.

I think it sounded like he was very tired, which IMO was better and more immersive, since the life in the tunnels would really make you tired.

@@angellara7040 yeah, maybe, but i still like the older one. The way he talked really made it more depressing, which is a good thing cause it fits to the game theme.

Does it change any of the dialogue? are the connected like mass effect or are your choices isolated? cause if they aren't im going to replay for the good endings lol.

I seriously disagree, the original voice caused me physical pain while listening to it. The actor sounded bored out of his fucking mind, like some sort of drug-addicted narcoleptic. I praised the lord that it was changed in Last Light, and added to Redux as well.

Of course man :) The best thing to do is just to play it with russian voice, you can't go wrong with that, that gets the best immersion :)

Yeah, but it's still closest to the soul of the game (though I've yet to play through it with russian voice, maybe the actors really are bad). What blew my mind was when the baby Dark One in Last Light started speaking with a russian accented english :D

does this ending carry over to the next game?

no the next game cover the bad ending , and the first mission you ever do is to go and haunt the last dark one
