Metis Basket Weave Christmas tree Ornament

Adding a little Basket Illusion in Metis colours to a Christmas tree Ornament.
“Many of the woods I use are from trees that have been cut down due to disease or to make way for construction. This is wood that would otherwise be burned or end up in a landfill.
To me, it is exciting to find the hidden beauty in a chunk of wood. Even a very plain piece of wood offers design opportunities. When working with plain wood, I often enhance the wood by carving or burning. My carved and burned designs mimic textures and patterns found in nature.

Thanks Jim! It's not exactly precise, but it's pretty close. I found that the little variation makes it look more handmade. Thanks for watching ❤️

Very pretty as always. The grid of colour turned out well - I wish I had the eyesight to do something similar! Thanks Heather.

I see you've finally come over to the copper wire side, it just works so well ... but you put it around a couple of pens, so much better than holding in fingers ... so we each learned something 😁 It's good to see something go wrong once in a while and how you recover, gives us mere mortals some hope ... and in the end you created two beautiful pieces 👍

Heather. You are very quickly becoming one of my favorite turners I watch. You have so many fresh and new turnings. What did you use for the wire to burn the lines in the ornament. Thanks for sharing

Oh Dave! Thank you so much ❤️ I haven't been turning very long, so I hope I can keep your interest! I used a fine copper ( electrical) wire to burn the lines. Thank you so much for watching Heather 🇨🇦
