For sure! That hammer on pull off at the end of the phrase is tricky to play but something James is so skilled at playing beautifully.

for sure, I feel like that hammer on part is really only difficult in context of the actual song, it really feels like it doesn't quite fit when you're trying to learn it, kind of a mind fuck much like many of James' work haha

It can be, but it's a little detail that I heard alot of people who covered this song over look (original recording it's hard to hear, much easier in the isolated guitar track). Glad that in recent years, people are playing it properly.
I knew it was gonna be this. Also my favourite harmony. Sounds like some regal early-modern nonchalant villain sh*t.
It's part of one of Metallica's heaviest songs but it always sounds a little like Greek music to me!
In 1983, James probably took acid and said "oh shit I have an idea" and this came out. Beautiful.

LOL I was kinda thinking something similar, this whole song is full of things that are mind blowing. I was thinking about how crazy the jump from kill em all to ride the lightning is. Intense af

It's also the first harmony James ever wrote, and in my opinion, one of Metallica's best ever parts of a song ever

im hearing an idea in my brain for one already....your modern weird version of like the verses and then a long detuned string section like pitch rising until its like DARKNESS IMPRISONING ME
Have you changed direction of the channel since the advancement in AI videos? I don't see you making "What if ____ was on ____?" videos anymore, if you've stopped then I just wanted to say thankyou so much for years of entertainment and HUMAN creativity, long before the machines took over you were the man who went out and did it!

It's such a lit fucking harmony, tough song
"Hardest", but it was also one of the first harmonies I learned when I started guitar. That and the My Friend of Misery harmony
What about a playlist of What If St.Anger was fixed with drums and guitar solos ?
How bout One's tho? I'd say that one can be easier to miss some notes on the way with all the legato, I feel more in control playin FFWF's tbh
Can you do atlas rise on ajfa? All it needs is good drumming, and an interesting solo and it's done Thanks in advance
Please. Please for the love of god help me w/ the harmony rhythm rudiment! It seems like it shifts from the rudiment played under kirk’s solo. Mike from Art of Guitar broke down that first rhythm part really well and that fits like a glove but I’m still convinced that James switches it up for what’s played under the harmony section. Please help. I’m actually driving myself nuts - for the life of me I can’t seem to get a grasp on it
Could you do Astronomy in AJFA style? Or breadfan in master the black album?
what about no remorse? 🤔
I wonder 🤔 what's Metallica's easiest harmony.

When KEA was released, those songs were already two years old. They grew as musicians quite a bit in those two years as James said Source: interview with James :)
