James Hetfield even said that Metallica wanted to do an album like the black album for a long time. They didn't make this record because of record label pressure. They made music that they wanted to. What, are they supposed to follow the same thrash formula for a 40+ year career? Stupid to call them sell outs. Honestly I kinda hate the sell out term in general. Bands aren't aloud to step outside of their normal formulas and follow a more mainstream sound without being hated on.

I love thrashy stuff but I also really like the black album it allowed the band to slow things down and play melodic stuff and expand their arsenal. Metal fans are weird. The thing is, no matter what you think of the Black album… These are some of the most talented musicians to ever step on stage. The fact that they sound as good today as they ever did, should be proof positive of that talent. Not to mention, writing 40 years of music is not easy. Keeping a fanbase happy for 40 years, is not easy. Reinventing yourself in lieu of the feedback you know you’re probably going to get, is not easy. Stepping out of the comfortability of your own skin in order to try something new is what made this country and world great. it’s what sets great apart from average or mundane. Be who you are and be proud of it, never be afraid to try something new and experiment with something old. Live life every day like it was your last and love like it was your first.

The people that say they sold out when they wrote the black album would have been slamming them for writing the same shit over and over again if they stuck with the same formula every damn album.

I love thrashy stuff but I also really like the black album it allowed the band to slow things down and play melodic stuff and expand their arsenal. Metal fans are weird. They love their genre of music and shit on other genres lack of intricate music but then shit on their bands for becoming successful. If it keeps metal alive why are you bitching about it?

i mean for the load and reload albums they did kinda sell out. they started using eyeliner and wearing whatever the fuck they were wearing. and made songs that were trying to appeal to the knew kind of music listeners and didn't make songs they thought their fans would like

Right on and James dont give a fuck. Hes gonna write what he wants to write and its worked for this long. Its awesome how theyre laughing at the shitty reviews. They definetly arnt from any true Metallica fan. Been listening to that disc for 32 years and not sick of it still. Its in my car cd player right now. My daughter borrowed my car and she put it in actually. All she had to choose from is 9 Metallica anyways. Haha

@@redrick8900 As an avid metal fan, I like IM and LZ, but I wouldn't even call them similar, let alone a copy. Whole lotta love v hallowed be thy name. Rock and roll v phantom of the opera. black dog v murder in the rue morgue. All of my love v powerslave. Nothing alike. Lyrical themes are nothing alike. Rhythm sections and lead guitar style is nothing alike. Plenty of examples of Led Zeppelin being plagiarists if you just google it. Most music is derivative, but not very so in this case...

I was raised by a drummer boomer step dad who behaves exactly like this. All we talk about is music and silliness. He came into my life when I was 3. I’m 39 now. Still thankful to be a rock kid 🤟
Metallica is so special. My dad and I would always listen to them in the car when I was really little, like late 90’s, I was almost 6. To this day, I love them. My husband played Master of Puppets for me on his guitar like 5 days into dating, years ago. I was in love 😂.
Hahaha. They rule. 53 female fan since my late teens. Just took my older son (19) to see them in Napa. We got soooo close. My son plays their songs on his guitar. Best!!!
Metallica are fkn awesome. First concert I ever went to,wagged school drove hours to see them. One of my favourite memories as a teen! Even my horse ElleMay loved the Black album. My boyfriend at the time learnt every song on that album by ear... talented young man he was and ElleMay loved listening to him play it and I of course thought he was so cool lol. Rock on Metallica ✨💚
If the Black Album sucks, then I should probably not tell my dad. He'll have a heart attack. Some twenty years ago he came to me with this album. "You should listen to this. It is very good."

It's so nice to read all the stories of how you guys got to know Metallica at an early age. I can't remember when I heard them for the first time. I must have been 3 or 4 years old. I just know I've known some of their songs since forever. I've even heard some songs now as an adult that I hadn't heard in many many years and all of a sudden all the memories come back and I remember hearing the song and being so little that everything around me seemed to be huge. They've always been a part of my life.
I needed to see this today. Metallica make me feel so good. Without a doubt the best band in the world!

I remember my introduction to Metallica like it was yesterday It was around 1992. I was about eight years old and there was this cool older guy who gave me a tape of …And Justice for All. I went home and played that tape over and over, it is still my favorite album to this day.
Watching them reading the reviews and laughing all the way to the bank! Rock on! 🤘🏼
I saw them headlining a festival in June on one of the hottest days of the year and they were having fun, played longer than sheduled and were still on stage talking to the crowd when roadies were already getting gear off. It was awesome.

I've never been a big Metallica fan personally ( not that I don't respect their musicianship, they are great musicians and performers), just wasn't all my personal vintage. But good grief are these guys FUNNY, and have an AWESOME sense of humor. I LOVE that. This is GREAT!!! I wish them the best, this video is awesome.
Aww the clip of Joe with them at the end ❤️

I absolutely love Metallica! Not only they are the best band ever but they are super funny! I love James’s humour ❤
I was a Metallica fan at 17, living in eastern EU, I am 44 now living in NA, have a family and amazed to see current 17 year olds with a Metallica shirt on, so yeah, I am still one of those headbanger Metallica fans. Every single Metallica album is a timeless masterpiece. Your music will live way beyond our century! Peace
I'm 32 now and a can't remember the first time I heard Metallica, cause my uncles, my aunt, the husband of my aunt, my dad an mom, all of them used to listen to Metallica! So it seems it always been there, but when I was 13 I guess, it's when they really got me and I started to pay more attention to the lyrics and everything else, and well, they became my biggest band. For all the moments of my life I had a metallica song, still love them and listen to them to these days, by the way my first tattoo was an art from the album and justice for all. I loved even the St Anger album, even not being the best one of them, I understood the context of the songs. Metal fans are sucks hahaha always complaining and doing absolutely nothing
One of my favorite albums, welll then there's M.O.P 's which was also amazing. And their new music as well. Thanks for the past, the present, and the future Metallica!
Great to see that Lars has finally managed to beat his tooth-pick eating addiction!
With Joseph at the end omg🕺🕺
I love how they are just laughing their asses off & reading the reviews.
kirk is such a kid i love it
FREAKING LOVE THEM!! They older, they’ve done it all. Grammy Winners, Sell Out Stadiums all OVER THE WORLD. Metallica can do whatever they want cuz they been made it! Love their humor.
3:34 You're hired, I'm fired
I loved that album, two of my fav songs are on it!
The Load/Reload/St Anger phase was probably the most I ever drifted from Metallica. Then Death Magnetic brought them back into my sphere and Hardwired sealed the deal. Killer album. Ride the Lightning came out when I was a senior in high school and Kirk/James are the one's that made me get a guitar. The Call of Ktulu stands today as my favorite metal song of all time.
Only those who don’t love good music , would ever not love the black album! Those of us who love good music love Metallica & the black album.
Freak me out 😅😂😂😂 Fav team, fav band, best wishes.
