@@jeremy9951 I don't mind loud snares. It was quite loud in DM, but it still sounded good. I'm not bashing the album, I love most of the songs (except maybe Invisible Kid and All Within My Hands). Just that the snare is a little annoying. It's still a great album to listen to when I'm REALLY pissed off. I really wish they would play Shoot Me Again or Purify live...

@@lakshminarasimhanb2495 remastering doesn't change the recording, the only way to solve it would be to remix it and sample replace the snare, or overdubbing a good snare on top.

This is not their worst album. It's an album for your worst days.

donufro honestly it wasn’t even that I don’t think (see: slipknot) . The only reason, and I repeat the ONLY reason people didn’t like st anger was because we were mad about the Napster BS. It’s a stigma that stuck with it , most of the hate nowadays is just bandwagon . Imagine a metal head giving a shit about the sound of a snare. We want the headache .

I know right, Whenever I’m pissed off or sad I put st anger and I just go ham. The way the album was produced and mixed fits your current emotion, doesn’t sound right and you get that annoying anger fuel and you go harder.

Sounds way better live than the studio version. Crazy awesome!

@King Greed nah mate Lars can't play double base anymore. Also these extra base notes sound incredibly sloppy. Seen them live and when he plays double base it sounds sooooo sloppy it's painful to hear. I've heard it on other live recordings too. I think Lars needs to start to play simpler.. he's got to be honest with himself and admit he is no longer the drummer he used to be.

I like the over a decade later people finally like the album. At the time it came out I was dealing with the death of a sibling, my parents divorce being bullied in school and trying to find my place in the world as an impressionable young teen. Now I’m 30 and I still love every note ever played on this album and it still holds a special place in my heart as something used to get through some of my darkest and toughest days in a small nowhere town in Ohio feeling that I never fit in or belonged.

I was going to say that this song is underrated, but no, this whole freaking ALBUM is underrated! St. Anger, guys, give it another chance!

@@FOFF1914 I think St. Anger certainly had a lot of potential, but the place the band was in at the time did not lend itself to making a good album. Although that's kind of the problem with current Metallica, they get so close to releasing a good album yet so far because of consistent issues throughout the songs. Hardwired was the closest they've gotten to releasing another fantastic album.

I remember getting a physical dvd with all the St Anger songs played live at the studio. It sound so daaamn good. Everyone hating on St Anger and I was just loving it.

I was at this show. Came over from Ireland. Met Rob Trujillo by pure coincidence in arrivals at the airport. Chatted with him for a minute and shook his hand. While St. Anger is a difficult listen, l really enjoyed hearing Frantic on the night, especially as it was the first time they had played it live in many years. Man, l have a funny feeling that was the last time I'll see them live. I hope I'm wrong of course.

Man that break in the tour served Metallica very well they so energized and crazier than ever I mean the sound amazing

St. Anger will sound better live because the studio recordings were poorly mixed with the frying pan snare drum among other things.

"This search goes on, this search goes on" is a one of a kind tone. The first time I heard it back in 2008, I grabbed the computer and downloaded the entire album

The entire album still holds up today. Was the first cd i ever bought as a kid and didn't regret any moment of that. Wedge a few more songs from st anger into shows. Just sneak 'em into the set list if you really have to. The album is raw,pure and an uncompromising sound of the energy that came from within. How can you not love that? Not playing these songs is like being in denial for what you guys were in that period. Ignoring this album is a thing that really should not be.

St. Anger is so heavy, adding solos, improved snare, Hetfield's actual voice and a better recording quality it should be at least under the first four albums

It's already been done check out the St.Anger 2015 project it still doesn't have any solos but it fixes many of the problems with the original album

Meme God it’s produced. I don’t know what they do to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a sample for Lars that they punch in, so every kick and snare sounds consistent. Just like they did with Hardwired.

CruciatusVXS they celebrate the 20th Anniversary of there S&M (Symphony & Metallica) Concert back in 1999 in September in San Francisco also Celebrate the new Arena/Building in that they play for two Shows. First show got totally fucked up with Ticket Bots. And the Second Show is only for Legacy/Fith Member who won Contest to get a right to order ticket.

Here's my thought on Kirk's voice. It contrasts James' voice really well, but his voice is simply not strong enough to make good backup vocals, especially if he doesn't warm-up his voice to perform, but if he does, then I just feel bad for him… Just get a good backup vocalist already… Or give Lars a mic XD

I don't know why people hate this album, i relistened it yesterday and it's just so powerful/in one breath album, bunch of sick, groovy and extraordinary riffs and ideas, very heavy. I'm not a much of a Metallica fan, but this is the album i want to hear again

Probably the best decision taken by Lars, put this back on the setlist

St.Anger really had a lot of pretty good stuff in it (imo) it was just so bloated and sonically poor. This song kicks ass and is heavy as hell.

I liked the direction of the album. They were capturing raw rhythmic emotions. My main issue with the album (I didn't mind the sound of the drums) was the long repetitive nature of the arrangements.

Furegious yeah that’s the issue more than anything i love st anger it’s amazing but the music videos which include shortened songs are better than the album versions imo especially the unnamed feeling

When I watch them live today, all I can think is how amazing they've always been, how I fear the rest of their lives bc I know the day is closer, and how happy I am that they have survived every bus ride, plane ride, drug induced night, etc etc..
