Always thought this album would be massively improved with just some trimming (and better production, of course). The songs themselves have a lot of good parts, they just repeat endlessly until you hate them.

Trimming, yes, thats why they need a producer with the job to actually produce (ie Bob Rock in the early 90s) towards a more conmercial approach and structure. All of the latest metallica albums have the same problem, its just endless new parts and bloated sections. 72 seasons is a bit better on some songs, but most of them could essily loose two thirds. Or more.

the sound is truly unique, they really do suffer from some extremely sub-par mixing and recording, honestly. but i love St. Anger. it's such a unique album. the snare-fix remasters on youtube make it very enjoyable!!!

Bruh, trimming is putting it lightly, the album should only be 30 to 40 minutes long, take it from someone who will defend the original version of all within my hands with his life, there is no reason for any of these songs to be longer than 3 minutes, and the album clocks in at roughly 75

As a huge Metallica fan this fucking kicks ass! Awesome work.

Listening again, and realised that this song (and presumably others on St Anger) are raised simply by using a decent sounding drum kit. One of my lecturers at university when I was studying sound production said that the St Anger snare sounded like, and I quote, "a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin".

When I’m mixing I ask myself “could this sound better?” and keep going until the answer changes from “yeah it totally could” into “maybe but idk anymore”

Love this cover, and I actually love the original song. St Anger has a couple of okay songs, but it was clearly an album that needed to happen for Metallica's sake. They were clearly not in a good place, and the fact they managed to push St Anger meant they could get through anything. Death Magnetic and Hardwired are great, imo. So for that reason I'm glad St Anger exists.

This is really good. I was a Metallica stalker before and during the St. Anger period. I remember in interviews the band said they were going for a rough garage feel. And went on to say that they used cuts that they knew the guitars had gone out of tune somewhere in the mix. I thought oh know that does not sound good. Then the album came out. I listened to it a lot. And everytime I liked it a little more. I always felt there was a classic album in their somewhere. Years later You Tube comes along and talented fellows like you proved it. You live it or lie it.

The tuning of the guitars, the evenness of the drums, the synchronization of the parts, and the mixing/mastering of the track were all better than the original. And I feel like the original has no excuse on the mixing/mastering front, given that it was released in 2003, a year after Disturbed put out Believe.

I mean there was a reason for the awful mixing and drum tuning. Metallica was behind the Napster lawsuit and Lars got all petty and said "what if we made something so awful nobody would bother stealing it?" What he failed to realize is that it was so awful nobody wanted to buy it either. St. Anger is one of the most notorious metal albums of all time because of it. Shame it was a losing battle.

It is hard to find a good cover of any metallica song, so i did not have high hopes when coming across this video. Let me tell you, the more i listened to this, the more shocked and amazed i was. What a beautiful rendition of Frantic. Not only was the recording quality top notch, but the timing of every band member was spot on. Transitions could not have been more perfect. Then @ 1:56 i was just blown away. Would love to hear St. Anger in this same version. So please do that song. Seriously, make it your next project.
