    Kevin Sipos The sad thing about rock nowdays is that it has gone in a direction where things like this 1.7 million people concert wont ever happen, its just the nature rock has taken. But id say it has its beauty nonetheless. Rock aint asleep, its just not selling out stadiums and starring on covers. Rock bands are indie and alternative right now, maybe one day they will go back to their former glory and status of gods.

    Я был на этом концерте осенью 91 года. Был в этой толпе, видел и слышал это живьём. Мощность звука была такова, что звук прошибал насквозь, как ударная волна. Земля вибрировала под ногами, в буквальном смысле. Плюс немыслимая энергетика огромной толпы и эпичный вертолет, круживший на малой высоте "абсолютно бесшумно", так как звук со сцены полностью перекрывал звук работы двигателя. Эмоции зашкаливали. Это было самое грандиозное действо в котором мне доводилось участвовать.

    is this the most legendary concert of all time? For both musical, political and humanitarian reasons? So insanely epic with Russian soldiers and helicopters swirling around. Finally the soldiers succumb to the epicness of Metallica and starts jumping like the rest of the crowd. Imagine living your entire life under an oppressive communist regime, where freedom of expression and individuality was all but stomped out with intimidation and violence...and then all of a sudden being free to do all of that and at a Metallica concert, your first rock concert ever, with 1M other people in the same situation. The energy in that crowd could power a small country!

    I can feel adrenaline rush thru my screen 33 years later.. I can't imagine what it was like to be on that stage that day. Probably the highest feeling a man can achieve.

    This concert meant so much in history. The Russians get their first glimpse of Western popular culture and the children of the Western world saw that the people of the former USSR were not so different from them and certainly not the enemies they allways thought they were. They just enjoyed a good time too.

    So your think those hundreds of thousands people who moshed there, headbanging, wearing metal atributics heard there heavy metal for the first time? Like when this gig was announced they had no clue what kind of music was gonna be played there? By that time the soviets already had their own metal scene. That crowd came there for metal.

    The no of people in this concert is almost equal to the total population of Latvia. This band is awesome. I want metal to live on but with this new generation...I don't really know.

    I came back to this video because I was telling my bf how if I had a time travel machine I would go on all the epic concerts I missed because I wasn’t born yet. So ofcourse I went along and showed him this toplister. I’ve been to a Metallica concert tho but imagine that possibility of time travel. If i had to pick one constant subject in my time travel it would be music. Going to a place you know the best musicians came from, visiting Kingston in the rocksteady times or Seattle in the 80s or 90s. Dreamy
