    Considering the glowsticks. Easy answer: merchandise = money More fun answer: glowsticks are very common with idols in Japan/South Korea. Each band/group/singer has their own glowstick, that can change into different colours, often representing a specific member in the group. For example, the main colour of the overall group might be blue, but if a certain member has a solo, you might wanna change it into their colour. Overall, it adds really well to the ambiance during a concert. It really connects u as the audience together with the group/band and looks overall amazing. Also depending on the group/band, certain songs might have a little bit of choreography that you do~ So yeah, deff get a stick if you ever get the change to go to a concert that has them, its amazing! And a good workout for your arms (;

  • @MrAdrian

    Damn, I didn't know that! That's insane! I already noticed that there's some sort of choreo at certain parts of the song where the audience participates. Already noticed that during the Babymetal concert I went to. It's really cool that the audience can participate in that way.

    About the glow stick, it’s called blade in Japan. It doesn’t only let you change the colors for connecting to the song or the band, It also has choreography that they called Call. It lets audience do actions with the blades(towel sometines) or shout out specific words(or follow some lyrics).Usually its easy to learn and follow It really helps connect with the audience and supports the artists showing the passion and enjoyment

    A month late but again I must give my insight of Bandori. Raise a Suilen is an interesting band to say the least. The meaning behind their name it to raise a ceiling. It’s a pun on a type of Japanese bamboo once used to build roofs and ceilings for huts I believe. RAS as a band was originally just a backup group. They played the instrumentals for the vocalist of the three other groups who’s seiyuus don’t actually know how to play their instruments. Back in the day they were known as The Third. However as a gift to them and all their hard work, the band Raise a Suilen was announced, and their first song R.I.O.T was released. Their anime character counterparts were also revealed and the rest is history. RAS took a center light for the second season of Bandori where we got to see their anime counterparts origin story. The rivalry between them and Roselia is a one sided story created by the producer and DJ of RAS. Chu2 had been inspired by Roselia and wanted to manage them, in her own way which Yukina turned down as Roselia wants to reach their own goals on their own accordance. In bitterness Chu2 seeks out four other girls, all with immense talent to take on Roselia. And that’s the story we got for RAS in the anime at least. Their music goes very hard, and their performances are filled with a ton of hype. They’re also the second group in Bandori to feature a DJ and they use it to their fullest. As for the name of the band members name and anime characters name we have: Raychell/ Layer (vocalist and bass) Riko/ Lock (Guitarist) Natsume/ Masking (Drums) Reo/ Pareo (keyboard) and finally Risa/ Chu2 (D.J) All the members of RAS in the anime tend to go by their stage name so that’s why they have some odd names. I do highly recommend their other songs, especially Expose Burn Out and their debut single, R.I.O.T.

    I got really excited that someone is reacting to the BanG Dream, so I wanted to do an info dumpppp About the BanG Dream Franchise: BanG Dream is a franchise created by Bushiroad. It started off as a rhythm game then had its own anime series that didn't really kick-off at the start. Though, a few months passed and Bandori (the nickname that people use often when addressing it) made its way to mainstream Japanese media. It started with five bands: Poppin' Party, they're one of the four current LIVE bands of the franchise, (More on this later), Afterglow, Pastel*Palettes, Roselia, and Hello, Happy World! Recently, during they're third year anniversary this year, they added the third LIVE band, Raise A Suilen, and the fourth which is Morfonica. About LIVE Bands: Aside from the seven bands, the voice actors, or seiyuus, of the four bands, Poppin' Party, Roselia, Raise A Suilen, and Morfonica, perform in real life with the instruments of their characters. Sadly, not all bands have LIVE bands, but they're main singers' seiyuus often join LIVEs and perform songs with one of the four bands acting as the instrumentals. About the Glowsticks: I'm not a long time fan of Japanese music or concerts, but the glowsticks have been around since before. Most of the time, characters have a signature color that can be displayed by their glowsticks to support the idols. They bop the sticks to the beat or at climax points when needed. Some even go as far as dance along to the performances. This is a more quiet support compared to the usual screams of fans in most Western concerts. It's been a long-time running part of their culture. Is there more?? ABSOLUTELY. All bands are amazing and deserve merit for the time and effort their seiyuus go through in learning instruments or even singing. A similar franchise to BanG Dream is the male counterpart called AASide. About AASide: AASide is another Bushiroad franchise that circle's around male bands in different genres. They currently have 5 bands so far, and I definitely suggest you to check out GYROAXIA for more heavy instrumentals. The five bands are Argonavis, GYROAXIA, Fantomê Iris, Fujin RIZING, and epsilon phi aight that's all, I'm gonna crawl into my gacha hell hole

    Waving the light sticks is from a fan movement called “wotagei.” Its common in Japan to wotagei at performances to both participate in the energy of the concert as well as actively show your support to the performers. Usually, you move the sticks in rhythm to the beat of the music (similar to lighters waving at Western concerts). There is no “official” way to wotagei, as it varies per song. So for this song, there were a few “call and response” moments that the audience would shout and raise their sticks up in accordance to the song’s lyrics. But for the most part, you would move the sticks up and down to follow the beat. I highly suggest looking up more into wotagei as it is a fun and interesting activity at Japanese concerts

    In terms of the rivalry, all of these bands (Roselia, Poppin Party, Raise a Suilen, etc.) are all voice actresses performing songs from an anime/game franchise (Bang Dream or Bandori) live. While the fictional bands Roselia and RAS have a rivalry, their live counterparts don’t and many of the actresses are friends. When you watch Roselia perform you’ll sometimes see an animated video with their anime counterparts playing behind them. This doesn’t really happen with RAS, but they’re kind of a special case.

  • @gloriosa8155

    For a little bit more context, Roselia and Poppin Party were formed as live bands from the voice cast. Many of the actresses already played their instruments, but some learned. RAS (Raise a Suilen) was actually formed as a backing band for some of the other voice actresses to perform live when they didn’t play the instruments. RAS became so popular with fans that they were made an official band, Tsumugi Risa ( who plays Chu2) was added as a DJ, and the other’s characters were modeled after them. You can see this especially in LAYER and Raychell (Vocals and Bass) as well as with PAREO and Kurachi Reo (Keyboard).

    So that you understand and summing up so as not to lengthen the length, in the anime, raise dj a suilen is a producer that offers Roselia vocalist to work together but is then rejected as revenge builds her own band to show her how great they opened up with her as a producer Raise a suilen has the most experienced girls with their instruments from the 4 real Bang Dream bands

    In the show a lot they will look like they’re pointing randomly which they kind of are but their back story was that the DJ wanted to me the “number one unstoppable” band but it can also look like finger guns also the song is declaration of kokoni which translates to here so take that as you will

    on your comment at 4:10 and the possibility of them singing about darker stuff, might i recommend the vocaloid genre? basically it’s songs made with voice synthesizers for vocals, but they still sound pretty great!! to start i would recommend yuyoyuppe’s Leia or Palette, definitely one of the harder sounding songs in the genre, as well as UtsuP-whose work i would think definitely falls under the harder rock and very metal (with screaming!!) i would recommend Fools Are Attracted To Anomaly or Living Ghost Is Alive. But do take note these are made with voice synthesizers in mind so i’m not quite sure if the vocals would be to your taste but they’re definitely worth the check in my opinion! i really hope you get to check it out/react to it :DD

    Octaviagrace might be worth reacting too. They are not Anime music directly but what they do is take the J pop/rock sounds/melodies/ect associated with Anime and make the instruments under it heavier and more intricate. White Graffiti is a good one by them to react to.

    The glow stick, if you want to know is called penlight in japan. Korea has the same culture of watching live with them but they call lightstick. Basically because the audience is not allowed to use phone (to record), they have to use penlight. Also that’s just purely live culture. They can change colour btw. Different members, different groups have different colours to represent them.
