    I’ve done a similar thing with timber boarding but used a nested array family in a curtain panel family….mainly to avoid all the mullion grids you get with an array. It works really well and is easy to cut or swap out for something else. The downside is you need to use masses to cut anything not square.

    Your content is great! The volume is incredible. This is an example however of overmodelling. Unless you are a cladding subtrade, this should just be a layer in your basic wall assembly. these flutes would only need to be depicted at 1:5 so it's good to know the capabilities of the tools, but like a sage bloke once told me, 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should'. Cheers people, we do BIM in 🇨🇦 too eh!

    Apologies...sorry...I should add, if you're working on a little project and you get to make design designs...add these to a basic wall as a sweep and then openings aren't an issue. However, you can only do this for vertically applied cladding, which is the only way it should be used. Sorry...in my humble opinion. 😆

    Thanks for your video it was very helpful. I was wondering if you could help resolve the issue of angled walls where the sheeting disappears as Revit cannot resolve the roof slope? In other words the top of the profile (cladding) is horizontal and cannot follow the slope of the roof so Revit replaces it with a standard "solid panel".

    Hi! Your video is extremely helpful so thanks for sharing. Also, I'm trying to apply your method to sheet piles, yet the last element is overlapping. The fixed distance is 1200mm and when the wall length is not a multiple of 1200, this overlapping is happening. I've tried different ways to try and work around this and nothing seems to work. Your suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    It is better to create a family with an array. This way you can count how many sheets you put in the project. Also, you can create a set of parameters that will check the lenght of the wall and divide by the sheet width, giving you the count as well

    use wall profiles instead. Create a profile Family. Load into project. Wall Profile. new type. use the Profile. Check the cut opening option, and you can even create special profiles for the corners. The only disadvantage is that you will have to copy the Wall Profile multiple times but you can use "Array" for that puropse

  • @balkanarchitect

    @balkanarchitect

    Hi, yes I explored that option as well, that approach gives you easy openings but is harder to place, because you have to copy the profile and the approach in the video is much quicker to place but takes more time to make openings. I guess everyone has to choose what works better for them 🙂
