Not a throwaway at all, we legit thought of accelerated aging in 99 bc dolly the sheep was still fresh in our minds. And kojima's! Hence, the clone retcon... ... AND liquid mentioned this in the tanker chapter of MGS2... This is one of Kojima's actual George Lucas moments lmao

I just realized... thanks to Grey Fox's new voice, that means in this version Leonardo killed Raphael.

Looking at him makes me so sad... Fox was so beautiful.

In hind sight, snake could've used his psg1 sniper rifle to shoot liquid while he opened his cockpit.

Other than the VR game and as a skin for Rising Revengence, it’s a shame we’ll never able to truly play as such an amazing character.

This is probably my favorite cutscene in the whole game, save for maybe Liquid and Ocelot plotting in the control room.

What does Kojima has against ninjas? Gray Fox, Olga, Raiden... (All of them messed up) At least Raiden is still alive.

Rob Paulsen is such a phenomenal voice actor with incredible range. Though he's had countless roles, you might hear the same like maybe Carl wheezer and PJ from goofy movie. There is a certain additional voice that he wasn't credited for in a certain other movie that took me so long to realize it was him, and his gray fox voice comes pretty close yet its STILL vastly different. Top tier voice actor.

The music that was playing about 20 seconds after Grey Fox says "a cornered fox is more dangerous than a JACKAL!!!" was very brooding and dark... Whoever composed this deserves mad props!

It’s the same sword he gives to Raiden in Mgs2. Something they placed in there to explain how he got it.

The last metal gear I want to see is where solidsnake got his first mission in Zanzibar land. Think about it.... The graphic possibility of the ps5, combined with the area of Zanzibar and the in-depth emotional story what potential could be the best one metalgear has to offer. Frank Jaeger (grey fox) who is like a mentor to solidsnake, ends up fighting solidsnake on a minefield, solidsnake fighting venom snake (thinking its big boss) exploring outer heaven, being part of foxhound instead of fighting against foxhound, Just think about it guys! Solidsnake being green and being aided by the fan-favorite and most trusted lieutenant of Big Boss, to the point where they got to face each other. Friends to the core but their loyalties to the opposite sides got them conflicted just like big boss had, dealing with the boss. I would like to see solidsnake once again from a different perspective because we only saw him in his prime/old version but not in his young/rookie version, and we get to see Frank Jaeger instead of the ninja who used to be Frank Jaeger! What do you guys think?

I'm all for it actually the story canonically fits most parts. My wish is that the next Metal Gear expands on the foundation of 4 with its use of the Metal Gears. One of my favorite gaming moments ever was when you pilot Rex against a Ray in MGS4. It was surreal and cemented its goat status in my mind. MGS5 explored some of those piloting concepts with the minishag scooter exoskeleton, as well of rumors that the big robot was supossed to be playable. That would have been awesome. Sucks that MGS is in development stasis for the forseeable future

It does exist it's called Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and as it implies it's Snakes second mission. A remake of the first two Metal Gear games would be nice though.

@@solidgaming9815 Yes. Zanzibar was before Metal Gear Solid, but it wasn't Snake's first mission that was Outer Haven. Outer Haven was the setting for Metal Gear. Zanzibar was the setting for Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. Metal Gear was released in 1987, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake was released in 1990, both games were for the MSX2. Metal Gear Solid is the third game.

Night Striider yeah I know but from MGS TT and forward Kojima used this selection of voices, the flashbacks in MGS4 contained the voices from TT not mgs1, I can understand that many people got more attached to the old Fox voice, because it sounded more conflicted and affected by the situation, but they decided to chance the voice because it somehow "sounded similar" to DARPA chief voice. At the end I kinda let go, now I don't mind about it so much

Yeah the voice acting is flat and unemotional compared to the metal gear solid 1 on the ps1 that games voice acting is way better then the remake it still holds up most games from 1998 had bad voice acting not metal gear solid 1.

I imagine that in this version, the scene is worse if you're a fan of The Ninja Turtles considering that we're watching Leonardo kill Raphael.

I don't like how they changed that one line. In the original game it was something like "every time I looked at her, I could see her parents eyes staring back at me." Other than that, still an amazing cutscene.

Apparently that was what he was supposed to say in the orginal japanese script saying he was full of fright rather than he could say her parents eyes staring back at him. That was an American localization translation change.

@@lankychristopher9160 read an interesting article by the guy who translated the mgs1 game. He did the Castlevania SOTN translation as well. He saw that it was a little off. It was with MGS he decided that a direct translation want enough and that you needed to change it a bit to get the right feeling across. For example he added the line about how good a cigarette is in the morning. It's an interesting read. But essentially a good translator is a good writer as well. Otherwise you get "you steal men's souls and make them your slave"

It is good but the original voice acting and emotion the voicd actors put sounds better and more dramatic.

3:21 hits harder after playing Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake. Basically Fox's way of apologizing to Snake for trying to kill him and for what happened to Gustava by allowing himself to be killed by another weapon similar to the one he used to attempt to kill his friend and killed lover with.

He did not “let” himself get killed by rex, if that was the case he wouldn’t be dodging all those bullets for dear life. He legitimately got beat because he made a dumb decision to run against rex. His wish was for snake to kill him just like in zanzibar

I always liked the upgraded graphics of this version but couldn’t get over the loss of the amazing music in the original, why they chose to forgo that I’d beyond me. Also the phoned in VA work for this version of Grey Fox sounds much like the work of video games of this era. Also what’s with the changing of Liquids line after he kills Gray Fox, it’s supposed to be “Foolish man, he prayed for death and it found him. You see, you can’t protect anyone, now die!” Thus starts the climactic finish.

Yeah the way Liquid just sits there while Snake takes like a full minute to pick up the sword and look at it is really dumb. The original was perfect, Fox gets crushed, Liquid throws a quick taunt, and then straight back into the battle on an emotional high note.

Both voices approached gray fox differently and both were good. The twin snakes version showed a man that had become a ghost and seemed like he had no soul while in mgs 1 gray fox is portraying as a man who is living in constant torment.

@@ace9924 As much as I absolutely love Greg Eagles' performance of Gray Fox, and the intense emotion he brought, I will always be distracted by the fact that he also voices the DARPA Chief. It's an association I simply can't ignore. That's why a part of me gravitates to the Twin Snakes version: it's finally a unique voice for the character, even if the performance is comparatively lacking (sorry Yakko). And you are right, this Gray Fox has more of a haunted, subdued presence. Greg Eagles' approach was more dramatic and chaotic, suffering and bleeding all over each scene. I suppose we could chalk it up to the fact that the first game's emotional depth and resonance relied heavily on dialogue, since the face models were essentially bouncing potatoes; so the actors probably aimed for more extreme's to sale the character. However, a counter argument might point out that Liquid and Solid's performance in Twin Snakes are way more over-the-top than in the original... Also, this music does nothing to help the weight of the dialogue in Gray Fox's speech. The original music engaged and elevated the emotions, forcing your attention and rooting the heaviness of the scene. This... I guess it tries for a more subtle angle, but it's just not very impactful.

@@adrianwehunt8033 I agree with you about the music but with the boss scenes before rex, the music was actually good. The soldier vs the ghost is the best track on twin snakes as it captures the vibe of mystery on who is this ninja.

+Crazy Domino Visually it may be more appealing, but actually, the voice acting was much more emotional and carrying to the plot in the original. If they could just make a future remake which combines the quality of voice acting and visual appeal, then they'd have gold in hands. Now Twin Snakes is still being viewed as a flawed remake by some fans because it didn't deliver on those fields.

Cam Clarke sounds good as Liquid Snake, as he did originally. To me, the voice of Fox/Frank isn't as strong here as it was in the PS1 MSG.

I want metal gear and metal gear 2 solid snake to be remade so we can see solid snake fight frank jaeger, venom snake and bigboss in unreal engine 5 goodness!

Best score was in mgs1 on ps1. The whole thing was simple and exciting and tense and always perfectly appropriate. Putting the gaelic song at the end was the cherry on top. Jeez this is such a boring reimagining.

Not only is the acting not as good as the original but the pacing is absolutely shot to shit too. In the original things are fast, frantic, there's no time to dick about. Here people seem borderline sedentary

Original fox voice actor was better imo the emotion when he confesses is a lot stronger

+MrSoftwizard because the original songs can't be used anymore, konami was sued for copyright infringements most of the original songs (compositions) belong to a russian composer, so that's why after MGS1 Kojima decided to hire a different composer (Harry Gregson-Williams) for this to never happen again!

4:17 was a mistake in my mind. In the original Fox didn't sell that injury one bit, he powered on and took it, he was a machine. In this one he screams like a bitch.. it doesn't fit his character.

I resent this sentiment. Like a human being, which he is. And it's not like he's crying about it once he lands. In this here version he actually sounds like a human being losing a limb. Not a machine. He never was a machine. It doesn't take away from a human being crying over and due to losing a limb, more then that - that cry it utters, it connects us back to basic common compassion, the ability to identify and project between our own. Yes, the original didn't have it, that cry, but holy hell does the impact of Frank losing a hand hurts much worse now.

"He prayed for death and it found him!" Was one of my favorite lines in the whole game and they replaced it with "When death is entreated the battle is decided." What the fuck does that even mean? It kind of ruined the whole scene for me.
