METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA CHANGES THAT NEED TO HAPPEN

In this video I go through the various changes I want KONAMI to implement during the development of METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER. Changes I'd like to see in the MGS3 remake include the modernization of controls and aiming, animals and environments being more lethal and some balancing to bosses and camouflage bonuses.

Hopefully no more invisible camo, that ruined mgo for me
The 3ds version made a few changes to the controls. They implemented crouch walking, third person aiming, aiming was regulated to the shoulder buttons and you could move while aiming. I hope they bring these over to the remake.

It played very similarly to Peace Walker from what I remember (which is a good thing). I definitely think all those things you mentioned are definitely needed in the remake.
8:33 my ideal is that *essential* radio call dialogues play automatically _in real time gameplay._ Such as Zero calling to confirm the direction you need to take to reach an area, Para-Medic calling to guide Snake's self-aid after getting beaten by The Boss in Virtuous Mission, Sigint calling to instruct Snake or where best to plant the plastic explosives, etc. *Optional* radio call dialogue, where Snake talks with his support team on different topics that can last *hours,* is accessed by pressing Top Right Touchpad (or whatever equivalent it is on the Series X controller). These optional radio calls can be done at any time. It pauses the game, blurs out the game screen, and overlays the Radio screen over it. Exactly like in Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. As a Quality of Life addition. After calling Para-Medic to save your game, she then asks Snake (you the player) if he wants to learn trivia on animals, medicine, or movies from her. Choosing "Yes" proceeds the dialogue. Choosing "No" cuts the dialogue short and has Para-Medic say "Ok then. Good luck, Snake." instead.

I was thinking the same thing but you made it even better with the paramedic option select. I love how Rising did codecs. Didn’t interrupt a thing and kept the gameplay from slowing down.
Mgs4 gameplay mechanics felt so smooth and clean. I hope they do it for mgs3 as well and we get an advanced version of it

MGS4 is definitely one of the best feeling MGS games to play. I honestly do think that game holds up really well even by today's standards.
Real time are the keywords. We want real time eating, real time injury treating, real time backpack interraction (kinda like The Last of Us). NO interruptions to gameplay! For eating, I would love to see the following: You approach an animal that you have just killed, you get 2 prompts. X and O (on the PlayStation controller). Holding X makes you eat the food, tapping X makes you grab the animal to throw, and tapping (or holding it if you tranqed the animal) O makes you store it in your backpack (or put it in a cage and store it), to use later on. The little cutscenes/animations that sometimes play (only once) in the original where they show Snake eating an animal, could play randomly once (just like in the original), BUT in real time. They could even add an option for those animations to: 1) Always play them 2) Play them once 3) Never play them Last but not least, I would LOVE to see an actual food chain being simulated, since this is a linear game, not an open world one.
Probably the most lackluster part of the original game was survival, in the remake, I'd like survival to be much more of a focus. I think they need to make everything much more dangerous, so even when your not in battle, you're still dealing with other threats. I think this could REALLY help emphasize the idea that Snake has to survive. Not just run from one enemy encounter to the next. I'd also love to see much more fluid controls for Mouse and Keyboard. I also think that the games challenge should be tuned with the modernization of the gameplay. Making things like that better, could really just make Delta an enhanced version of MGS3.

Very well put.
I'm not all the way trough the video yet, so you might eventually say something about this. I really want a The Last of Us esque system where Snake opens his bag or whatever in real time and that's where you manage your inventory and change camo etc Not sure how changing camo would look. He could quickly equip a box and change inside there idk. Pretty sure you don't start with the box though so that might not work. Changing camo in the og is plagued by constantly having to open the menu, taking you away from the game.
@PerfectStealth

Equipping a box and changing inside of it quickly is a great idea! It would be similar to receiving a loadout in TPP. A combination of a quick menu + your box idea would actually be my ideal solution to this.

My fear is that they won't change a lot besides graphics. And snake eater with modern graphics but no improved AI, expanded surroundings and immersive mechanics wouldn't be a better game than the original but a lesser one in my opinion. I'm not even sure if I like the fact, that the original voice acting will be used. I mean I love it for what it was, but the original tone of the dialogues in combination with realistic graphics and such it could really hurt the experience.
@DJWeapon8

Changing camo can just be Snake slathering paint or a solution to his uniform. This would also play more into the "survival" aspect of the game by making camouflage a limited resource that you have to acquire by stealing from storage depots or from foraging out in the wilderness.

@@burkuschgoldberg I really feel this. Its like the re4 remake where they used different voices for it and it was better all around. The original re4 had goofy aah voice acting but along with the tank controls, the dated graphics, and the story, it felt right; like it had charm be it intentional or not. But the remake chose to update the graphics and gameplay to where its more "mordernized" so putting the same voice acting just wouldn't fit. So what they did was keep the same energy but still exuding the same charm as the original along the context of the more "modernized" version so that ultimately, it was just better.
All of the characters reacting to different items etc could be just a button you press when hovering over that item. Would make it easier to get to hear all of the unique dialogue for camos etc.
The only thing I'd like for delta is the controls/movement of Metal Gear Solid 5 the controls were crisp and playing it again recently showed me how good it was. So Metal Gear 5 gameplay and Graphics with 3s story would be a home run.
One huge improvement I think everyone can enjoy is the cqc behind enhanced to the moves from the title screen. I love the current cqc moves but to disarm and take a soldiers weapon would be dope
@PerfectStealth

Especially since we see a lot of CQC being performed in cutscenes that we can’t use in game.
Hell no, the codec calls need to stay the original way. I'm sorry there are so many deep conversation that are important to have the players' attention. Look, make it like MGS4, quick dynamic calls like Otacon and tells you what you need to know, however if Snake is going to engage in a codec conversation it needs to be the traditional way. So quick call ins from your support team is for a quick tip OR hint like Traditional codec window better not change. This is MGS and conversations are part of the experience. MGS3 has great rich codec conversations and it better not be watered down.
@PerfectStealth

For sure. Something like MGS4's Codec Call system is definitely a good compromise between totally revamping codec calls and keeping them exactly the same.
@DJWeapon8
Жыл бұрын
My problem with the original story dialogue is that they're 70% unnecessary exposition. Though from what I remember, story cutscenes that include radio conversations don't really halt the pacing of the plot. Unlike MGS4 with Drebin preaching the backstory of the 4 beauties out of nowhere for no reason. While the long and in-depth optional radio conversations are just that. *Optional.* By and large, the radio conversations can stay the same as the original.
I feel like having those seamless Codec calls for important stuff would be good, but still having the actual like, codec menu to talk to specific people still there as an option would be even better and still allow for the characterization and humor that the original had.
Hello. I am a fan of MGS living in South Korea. I am using a translator because I am not good at English, so please understand that the sentence may be difficult to understand. Now I've seen your video, and I agree with most of the content. In particular, the opinion that it would be best to strengthen hunting content by making animals more dangerous and strengthen survival content by referring to recent survival games. When MGS3 first came out, the survival game genre was still unfamiliar to most people, but now games like Sons of the Forest have hundreds of thousands of simultaneous users.

Thank you so much for writing this comment. It makes me happy to know my videos are watched worldwide. I think it’s a good idea for KONAMI to consider implementing some aspects from popular survival games to attract modern gamers and also provide a new challenge to existing fans. Survival games do very well on streaming websites such as Twitch which could also help attract new players to the MGS3 remake.
- I need more difficulty levels. MGS3 was very easy, and i hope in the Remake it will be harder. Enemies should kill me with 2 or 3 shots. - more soldiers in one area. - More Animals who attack you - a better way to use the crocodile cap. I never understood how to use it. It never worked😅 - Grozniy Grad should feel like Ground Zeroes. Oh this would be so awesome - more items to find and collect. Maybe some side missions ala: save this dog, caputere these animals. - Optional Codec conversations shouldnt Interrupt the gameplay. - No loading Screens - a better way to heal snake. Pushing some buttons in the menu was a bit boring. It should be more interactive.... - changing camouflage and healing should only be possible at certain moments. Like in the Tomb Raider games on an Fire camp for example.
@DJWeapon8

• Bruh. Grozniy Grad being a massive open Ground Zeroes style complex would be dope. • Healing and changing camo and face paint should be done in real time gameplay. In my system, the Cure Screen is part of a group of menus in the Tactical Menu, where its just the camera zoomed in on Snake crouching down (or laying prone) rummaging through his medpack. Using surgery methods or medicines has Snake perform fascimile animations of using those methods and items. So he digs out bullets with his knife, wraps his wounds with bandages, etc. As for camo and face paint. Its in the Pack menu where food, live animals, NVG, IRG, grenades, mines, and different paints are stored. Select a paint and if you want to put it on the body or face, and Snake will smear the paint on his BDU or face in real time. By having it be done in real time, you make it so that players are left vulnerable to enemies. Forcing them to play smart by trying to prevent injury or being spotted in the first place since curing and applying camo during the Alert stage is a pain.

That's super encouraging! I actually missed that part of the store description so thanks for letting me know!
I agree with you on the codec calls, but I would like to have like a mix of both overlay and full screen codecs. Maybe the essential story bits would be full screen and other additional stuff as a overlay. Like you said the codec screen is just so iconic to the series and especially the older mgs games that I think removing it would make it feel less mgs if that makes sense.
Real time camo and cure menu would honestly be enough for me, its for the best they add larger maps and more interaction with animals / environments
Octo cam unlock for special would b Kool
Coming from the future, at 4:13, I am in complete agreement that, at least healing, should be done in real time to add to the tension. However, given the latest Hotline 01 Survival Viewer reveal, it seems that they are sadly going for the 1:1 route even with those gameplay mechanics (Camo, Backpack, Food, Cure). I feel this is a huge missed opportunity to streamline and modernize those archaic gameplay systems, and, for now, this is my one and only gripe with Delta. Overall, keeping those old gameplay systems 1:1 is a mistake.
Can’t stop this man from making good content!

@@PerfectStealth That's actually an idea some friends of mine had for MGS3. It already has the scientist disguise. Why not GRU disguise? With the caveat that you need to nonlethally incapacitate a GRU soldier and loot it off of him before he takes potentially lethal damage (gunshots, grenades, snakebite, etc). And that getting damaged while wearing it deletes that disguise automatically, so you need to knock out another GRU soldier to get another disguise.
This the control scheme I've modeled for my ideal MGS3. Feel free to add or suggest changes. *Based on PS4 Controller: Controls: L-stick = Walk/Run L3 = Stick to Cover R-stick = Move Camera R3 = Make Noise Up D-pad = Draw/Holster pistol Hold D-pad = Switch between Tranq Pistol & M1911 Left/Right/Down D-pad = Draw/Holster Long Weapon TRIANGLE = Interact X = Crouch/Stand Hold X while Standing = Go Prone CIRCLE = Reload Weapon Double Tap CIRCLE = Tactical Reload Hold CIRCLE = Check Ammo on Drawn Weapon SQUARE = CQC Takedown Hold SQUARE = Human Shield/Carry unconscious enemy Hold L1 = Choose Consumable/Gadget L1 = Use Consumable/Gadget R1 = Throw Consumable/Gadget R2 = Knife attacks Hold L2 = Aim Weapon R2 while Aiming = Fire Weapon While Running: >X = Leap >Hold X = Leap and Go Prone While using a Human Shield: >TRIANGLE = Interrogate >X = Crouch >Hold SQUARE = Choke Out >R1 = Throw Human Shield Away >R2 = Slit Throat Touchpad = Tactical Menu While in Tactical Menu: >L1 or R1 = Cycle through Map, Camouflage, Food, Cure, Radio
10:27 in my MGS3 wishlist its a lot more controversial. •Snake only has the Mk22 and the 1911 as his "permanent" weapons. To draw and holster them, you Press Up D-pad. To switch between them, Hold Up D-pad. These two pistols are very powerful in terms of MGS gameplay. They are the fastest weapons to draw and switch between, they have innate aim assist at close range, they're the only weapons you can use while using an enemy as a human shield in CQC, and they're the only weapons that have suppressors. •Other more powerful weapons must be looted off enemies, but they have limited ammo (equivalent to 3 full magazines) and Snake will automatically discard them once he runs out. And these other weapons are exclusively soviet equipment. No M37 shotgun, no XM16E1 assault rifle, no M63 light machine gun, no SAA revolver. These will be replaced with their Soviet equivalents with the exception of the XM16E1 because the AK-47 is already in the original game. •Snake can carry 3 types of grenades. Frag, Flash, and Smoke, but only 3 of each. These are put in as consumables, accessed by holding L1 and scrolling to them, and thrown by pressing R1. Thrown items will be thrown towards the center of the screen unless too far, just like in Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklist. •Snake can only carry 3 types of these extra weapons on him. Occupying the Left, Right, and Down D-pad Buttons. You can assign to what D-pad Button these extra weapons would be placed in by Holding the D-pad Button, pressing TRIANGLE, and then pressing the D-pad Button you want it assigned to. To equip them, simply press the assigned D-pad Button. To swap them with a different weapon on the ground, equip the weapon you want to replace, and Hold TRIANGLE to swap it. Just like in Call of Duty or Halo. •The original American weapons can be unlocked in New Game + including The Boss' Patriot pistol, wherein they become permanent to Snake and share appropriate ammo with their soviet equivalents. XM16E1 shares ammo with the AK-47, etc.

@@PerfectStealth in the lore he was a former Green Beret, right? And the nature of his 2 missions is deep reconnaissance and HVT extraction with strict On-Site Procurement. Based on this. I've modeled my wishlist to reinforce these ideas. That means Snake starts out with very little so as to be as light on his feet and leave as little trace as possible in enemy territory. Olive Drab BDU in Virtuous Mission. Then Tiger Stripe BDU in Op: Snake Eater A full load medkit. A survival knife. And a Mk22 tranq pistol. Everything else he needs to forage, hunt, or steal from the enemy. In the case of his 2 M1911's. Originally, he only gets an M1911 at Op: Snake Eater, in my wishlist he snuggles one in Virtuous mission. The Boss destroys both the M1911 and the Mk22 during the bridge fight. While EVA gives his second "custom" one in Op: Snake Eater. And as MGS3 is a stealth game, I've also modeled my wishlist to encourage players to be as averse to open combat as possible. •GRU soldiers AI are smart. They're always in pairs and cover each other's backs on guard duty, patrols, and in combat. •Using items play a short animation of Snake actually using that item in real time before it takes effect. If you use a ration, he munches down on a can, etc. Preventing spamming and punishing the player when used at inappropriate times. •Cure Screen is inaccessible in Alert and Evasion stages, and in scenarios where Snake can't crouch down.. Forcing players to escape first and hide, or find a good place to sit down first. During which, the player is forced to play with the injuries accrued.
I think these "modern audiences" would still drop the game with some of your ideas since it would make the game more involved and harder in a way. Still good ideas though, I think having the survival aspect more in depth is definitely needed.

13:00 The Shagohod in the remake should really be just a setpiece. Its "boss fight" is only during the motorcycle escape sequence. It gets destroyed from detonating the bridge and Volgin escapes from it before it falls. They also need to revamp that setpiece fight so we don't just spam RPG-7 warheads on it for 30 minutes straight. The original Shagohod boss fight is then replaced with another Volgin boss fight. Have him destroy EVA's bike with lightning to even the odds. This has been a problem with literal metal gear boss fights. Since these mobile weapon platforms have to be depowered so that its fair to the controls scheme and against humans with, at best, anti tank weapons, they're very underwhelming and boring. It isn't until Revengeance where we play as cyborg ninja Raiden that can run at 100kmh, slice incoming small arms fire in mid air, and slice through buildings in a single strike, that the metal gear voss fights became engaging and fun. Because now, they can operate at full capacity. My take for the Shagohod setpiece fight? •If you got an RPG-7 and saved up 3 warheads and then used those 3 shots to get direct hits on the Shagohod? Fights over. It shows the Shagohod severely damaged and slowed down from it. The escape sequence proceeds as normal but without the Shagohod.
I disagree that MGSV movement couldn't work. Just look at lufwa valkey in Africa map, Venom doesnt move too fast to break the flow of gameplay. But ground zeroes big boss especially is a good balance for movement if TPP Venom is too fast while OG games are too slow. Some new movements I'd like are sliding, proper jumping, more realistic rolling. I'd also like duel wielding, a proper melee system, more customisation (more outfits, option to have eyepatch only etc) Completely agree about the Codecs. If they don't try to adapt like RE4 remake did with the radio calls then I'm gonna be disappointed.
Great ideas. How confident are you any of them will be implemented?

Thanks for watching! Honestly, not super confident. I think KONAMI is probably a bit hesitant to change ANYTHING due to some fans just waiting for an opportunity to jump down their throats. Since this is a remake I would love to see them play around with the game and make some changes especially if those changes are improvements over the original.
3:25 to be honest. I don't need that much CQC options. All I need are: •Standing takedown (any side) •Corner cover takedown •Human shield and while you have a human shield: >crouch >aim and shoot with pistol >interrogation >chokeout >throat slice

i disagree with the codec calls opinion. we got that kinda in mgsv, and trying to listen to cassette tapes carefully while playing is impossible for my brain. i always either sit in the menu listening to the tapes or lay snake down behind a rock listening to the tapes. but even then the world can distract me from what the tape is saying cuz i was too busy looking at how much panting d-dog was doing and thinking he needs a water bowl. point is, i don’t want the codec to change. i prefer the break from gameplay to get some dialogue lore.
make the boss harder she is wayyy too easy
