I remember when I first played this and was blown away. I played with the camouflage system for days just in the jungle. Some of the best boss fights in gaming.

When the crowd said "SNAKE EATER" that really got me

DIN EN 131 says every rung must be about 25-30cm Snakes passes about ~3 rungs in a second and takes 1:46 Minutes, 106 Seconds times 3, makes 318 Rungs what would be about 7950-9540cm. So this ladder is about 80-95 meters long. Without railing. Without a platform in the middle. Sometimes I imagine how the construction workers must have reacted as they had to build the buildings of some games. "Sir, this plan has a ladder at this place, are you sure?" - "Of course, why?" - "It would be 80 meters long, that must be a mistake" - "You don't get paid to think. You get paid to work" - "alright, boss..."

The humour of Metal Gear makes this speedrun absolute comic gold! Epic stuff.

Believe it or not, those flying platforms actually do exist and actually did exist around that time. They look like the Williams X-Jet which came out in 1970, but are based more on the Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee that did, in fact, successfully fly like that in 1955. The things were basically never actually used because, cool as they are, they were basically too impractical to be actually put to use.

I really had a great time watching this run. Love the in depth knowledge about the series.

The MGS series is my favorite ever and so it was great to see such an awesome run!

The End fight was sublime.

Big up our guy raichu, helped me when I first had a go at speedrunning this game

Defeats the End by blowing cigar smoke on him...... I love this game.

CIA Agent beats a terminal old man by vaping on his face

I was going to brag that I also completed this game under 1:40 back in the day, until I saw him choose European Extreme and realized I fucking sucked.

Yeah, I hated The End Fight. Hell there was a way you can get the Sniper rifle early on and use it to kill him in the warehouse, and that would've been the end of it.

The weird futuristic hovercrafts are actually based off of the Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee.... And the CIPHER drones from MGS2 were actually real drones at the time

What a thrill.

Me: stalks enemies, cqc interrogate enemies, distracts enemies with magazines, uses bad food on guards, crawls alot Speedruns: roll, more roll

I know at the interrogation scene before Snake ends up in jail you could hold the weapon or med equip and you won't take any damage

GDQ crowd looks cool I wish I was there.

Got this game for Christmas the year it came out. Stayed up all night on Christmas til I beat it

This runner has a great personality for this. Really entertaining listening to him.

I know this is old, but I gotta point out that it wouldn't make sense for the box to catch on fire, as cardboard is quite flame resistant. Even if you douse a cardboard box in diesel and set it on fire, parts that are charred can be right next to a part that looks brand new still, as if it was never set on fire in the first place. They CAN burn, but it's very difficult

Tell me why when I was fighting the boss, Snake eater's instrumental's starting playing when she started singing

What on earth do you have to do to get the end to kneel at the bning of the fight instead of lying down??

Played this on normal mode then got stealth camo then re-play in easy mode with stealth camo and EZ gun just to get a quick run on the game. Its a nice game I newly download on my 3ds. Unfortunately I played on 3ds and it hurts my hands to do the quick switch manuveur on the buttons. Its was a very nice run for this legend Raichu. He saved the world in over an hour from the mission.

It's a lifesaver even in casual play how biased that combat roll really is. Couple that with the quick headshot and you just know Kojima purposefully made the combat as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

A year late, but it's because the the in-game timer for certain emblems also include cutscenes in the total time (as well as radio transmissions)

well, we could, but I just rather do it when the credits start cos that’s effectively where the game stops needing my input to save any time. If I mash too hard and enter the save screen or mess up skipping the radio etc it’s all time I could lose (or gain by doing it well). All in all we time with IGT anyway, so stopping & starting RTA is really runners choice, it’s largely irrelevant.

No doubt I will finish this but I absolutely can’t do it in one sitting lol

i just watched a guy completely wreck one of my favorite games make a fool of its bosses and meme on emotional moments that made me cry AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT

And now I know that if you just skip every cutscene after sokolov is found it just looks like snake took a big nap before snake eater mission and never left the forest.

Which buttons did you hold down to skip the cut scenes? Because I didnt see any of the buttons rapidly repeatedly tapped..

To skip radio you hold triangle, to skip cutscenes you mash X (or start, but that’s weird).

One thing I love about MGS games. They were literally designed with “exploits.” I use quotes because some of those were intentionally added for gamers who like to use a method. It’s always been amazing how the gameplay can favor slow stealth or speed run/fast stealth😂

I was just playing MGS3. Only used 3 Life Medicines in Normal Difficulty and 1 Continue because I got X Button confused with Triangle Button when I fell into the river during Virtuous Mission.

How does he skip the cutscsnes so fast with the screen being completely black the whole time?

This is the 17th time I've seen Yeti donate 10k (I wasn't counting). I don't think anyone's topping them in single or total donations to GDQ.

Is it not faster to kill The End earlier in the game when hes in his wheel chair?

Yes but to get Big Boss rank you can't kill anyone (excluding "accidental" deaths), so they need to drain their stamina bar, which they can't do in that area.

In mgs3 you dont pet the dog, the dog pets you.

You can pet the dog in MGSV. Kojima is not the monster people think he is.

I'd argue, that normal extreme is harder than European Extreme. Why? In European Extreme you always fight the bosses with full health but in normal Extreme if you've had an alert, you've probably lost some health and the bosses become more difficult.

not really the case, since health is sort of irrelevant. You might have noticed most bosses didn’t really do much damage to me anyway! Besides that, bosses on extreme do less damage.

@@RaichuMGS Well, you're a bit more skilled in the game 😅 But for me (an average player) MGS2 was harder with Normal Expert because of the health thing. I just couldn't get past Fortune, because I went to the boss while quite low on health and unlike in European Expert, I would die to the first hit. 😔

You're technically not supposed to chip away at its health during the chase sequence. The time to do the actual damage is when Eva is driving around it in circles. You hit the treads with a rocket, then loop around back to hit its weak point. It doesn't take that long, really. And it's the game's "Metal Gear", so it makes sense that it would be a big deal.
