I think you'd really like "West Coast" from her. Very moody/sultry, one of my all-time favorites.

I am 37... my generation grew up with the 70's, 80's and 90's in recent memory, and we have seen all the new music crop up in the last 20 years too. Working in a record store I get to meet fans from all walks of life, but so many online in various music groups say there is "no good music being made today". It's like, ummm.... have you never looked? There is SO much great music being made today, its just the top 40 doesn't exist anymore because streaming services don't measure music the same way that sales and radio used to. What I love about Lana, is even when she stops expressing her deepest feelings through these broke down beauty queens and lost women, the lyrics still hit the same notes in the heart. It's worth reacting to all her music videos, but beyond her album singles I have seen more than one grown man cry while reacting to "Cinnamon Girl" lol, and Mariners Apartment Complex. But I will say this, the Paradise EP, Ultraviolence and NFR are worthy of whole album reactions, but as a lifetime listener of music and collector, I can recommend several songs from two of them: Ultraviolence: Cruel World, Pretty When You Cry (improvised in the studio, something she started doing with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys who was the producer on that record), West Coast, Old Money NFR: Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch (just hang out with Mary-Jane a little first, if you partake lol), Cinnamon Girl, California, which is about Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys... As an aside, check out the music videos/ short film Florence did for her greatest album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, reflected in a film The Odyssey. That album was about coming out of the kind of relationship that would drive the best of us to a really dark and maddening place. No words... though if you did take that on it may have to be in 3 parts. :)

I love this, Samantha! Thank you so much! Yeah, I've learned a lot about 'new' music like music made in this century. I was once disillusioned with music these days but since starting this channel I've discovered so many incredible artists like Lana. They're out there and I am enjoying the adventure of discovery. It's actually the thing that makes me the happiest these days. There is so much ground to cover with Lana (which is great) but I will give you a big shout out when I cover Venice Bitch 😉 I have had some people recommend Florence + The Machine so I will definitely go down that rabbit hole but I will probably start with one of their most popular songs and work my way up to that movie (I was able to find it so I could put it on my watch later list). I really appreciate your knowledge and insights! Thank you so very much my friend! ❤️
YES I just subbed, ride imo is her best music video and the song is timeless. It encapsulates how she uses escapism to cope w her issues, which is v relatable to many. And her longing for freedom. u should DEF react to shades of cool by lana del rey mv, the guitar is so cool. I don't think i can compare her voice to anyone popular rn, she's so unique and influenced sm big artists popular today.

I literally just saw this for the first time last night and holy shit, I'm still processing it. The video is incredible, and I am shocked they got away with as much as they did. I've never listened to her until now. She is wildly charismatic and compelling, like some mystery I may never unravel. This story is probably hard to watch, but who is to say what freedom and choice means to anyone else? Our society has lots to say about what kinds of interactions with men we are allowed to have, transactional or not, but real freedom is not caring. But there are still consequences sometimes. I feel like the end is her death and final freedom.

Yeah, I' still processing it too! You might be right about that ending. And I agree, there's always consequences. cause and effect. Thank you, my friend! ❤️

do cruel world from ultraviolence
Just found out your channel, and I'm loving it! New subs here! Love your reaction, so much respect and attention to her art. I'd suggest you to react to her Tropico music video, it's also a short movie, and it's amazing! There's not a lot to say about Ride video, it's just biografical and she's speaking from her heart. She had a hard life, she was sent to boarding school at 14 to get sober due to her alcohol problem. After that, she was not allowed to come home, so she was sent away to Spain to live with another family. At 18 she was able to come back to the USA and she went to live in NY and to her path herself. She talks a lot in her songs about the both sides of the "American dream". We'd love to see more Lana here! Greets! ❤
