I really appreciate the kind words. I'm a HUGE fan of your playing (and the channel). I'm often here for the Friday Hang (OHHH YURRR). A lot of your subscribers have mentioned Shannon Larkin. When I was 16 years old, I opened up for Shannon. Seeing him live changed everything for me. I've mentioned him in practically every interview I've ever done. He's even invited me to several Godsmack shows, and we've hung out backstage. I say this all the time, but meeting guys like Shannon, Portnoy, Lombardo, Hoglan, has honestly been the highlight of my life. All the other stuff is just "nice." LOL Thank you again for the very kind words. It really means a lot. 🙏

But I would be willing to bet that on many occasions Shannon Larkin has spent many hours watching video of Steve Moore and saying to himself " DAMN! I have GOT to learn how to do that!!" 🥁🤘

There is a video of Portnoy playing with him and they alternate parts. I know Portnoy is not one of the best, but he has always been a very solid drummer, who is very clean and always keeps time. Anyways, Portnoy was trying to imitate him, but Portnoy lost time several times and was not very clean. So I know you did not need a reason to know that is very hard, but there is another one. When you see someone such as Portnoy, attempt somethign like that and struggle, you realize how very difficult it truly is.

I've seen a bunch of his videos. I don't think the audience has any comprehension of just how much concentration and talent is involved in what the drummer is doing. @@66Samus Little known fact, but Pasqually grew up watching Dook LaRue play drums when his parents would bring him to Rock-A-Fire Explosion shows. Thats who he would emulate. Wild they both managed to end to the same fate. Must be something that happens to those old guys whos careers ended up with them doing a residency at some cheap kid casino.
It is impossible to watch this and not laugh… he’s actually a kick ass drummer.. But …OMG…😂😂😂
He also goes through all of his antics but still doesn't overpower the drums. It would be very easy for that to happen. The lead singer is also a quite proficient drummer in his own right.
This drummer reminds of when I was a little boy and I wanted to learn to play drums. My father took me to see Crazy Charels. He played drums. The drummer in this video plays just like crazy Charels. A primary reason that Elton John dresses so eclectically on stage (or at least the reason when he was starting) is that the pianist is stuck in one place and can't move around like the guitarist, bassist, or vocalist. Some people tried to address this by inventing the keytar; John tried to address it by dressing like a Martian pomegranate. John is still around; the keytar is not. A drummer has a similar issue in that they're stuck in one place. They have a _little_ more dynamism because they have to reach around everywhere, but they're still stuck in one place. So, why not make a show out of it? As long as you hit all of the right notes at the right time, why not?

I have known people to quit drums to go to guitar because they hated being in the back and hidden from the rest of the group on stage. So it is impressive when a drummer can mix skill with showmanship in such a way that he is what you are watching.

13:48: Can we just stop and appreciate that he's (The singer) throwing those sticks blindly? And, not only is drummer Steve (I'm assuming that's his name by how many people referenced him by name in the other comments) catching them, every one of them was like a ball hitting nothing but net. It's hard to tell exactly, but that looks like a solid 8 to 10 feet or maybe even a smidge more between them... To do that during a performance and not have either guy make a single mistake, wow. Props to the whole band really. I'm about as hard to impress (It's a hell of a thing being a crabby old bugger! :P ) as they come and that entertained me and then some. And outstanding reaction video too. :)
I had only seen the original one with the ZZ Top cover, the other ones are even better :D He's a BEAST
I love how they all wear matching coats to add to the shock when he steals the show. And how they use comedy in their scripted interactions through out the sets . . .brilliant stuff...wow! it's all excellent stuff, like how they found the best way to showcase this drummer's raw tallent that even transcends this drummers' years of hard practive and dedication to the craft. Iv'e been a drummer all my life and i know a bit about the extremely high degree of difficulty some of the stickmanship is and how it's just mixed in w/ the more standard stricks, making it all look so easy
