    I still remember searching “drum solos” in late 2007 and discovering “Insane Drunk Drumming” and being blown away. It was the video that has made me follow this channel ever since. Though you might’ve been cocky back then, god knows the countless people like me you inspired with it. Happy to see you continuing to grow and inspire 15 years later Samus.

    @@66Samus I had a very similar video (although the fills weren't nearly as clean as yours tbh) when I was the same age but I was shirtless and my girlfriend back then told me "You can not show that on the internet!" so I deleted it. Shame. Might have become a drumyoutuber instead of a normal working person. Those early youtube days were great! And still I think for a 17 year old you were crazy fucking good.

    he was most likely an experienced drummer already before doing double bass, you'd still sound sloppy but it helps.

    It could've been. I know myself with my awful attention span I tend to air drum, doing the left and right movements just as a fidget helped me to learn double bass like that at least good enough to learn the chorus of "Nightmare" my first day or so playing it.

    The drums on that album are pretty wildly technical for the time and genre, lots of use of odd stuff like quintuplet double bass and uncharacteristically fast triplet fills that we really haven't seen on any other BDM records. Awesome drummer

    Don't be so hard on younger Sam :) I guess it's a lesson for your current self, but I'm pretty sure a lot of us were like that at 17. Plus, if I had chops like that at that age, it would have been hard for me to not be cocky about it. Thanks for taking us on this fun trip.

    Insane drunk drumming was the first video of yours I saw shortly after it came out, I showed it too all my friends in highschool and we were like whoa man haha wow the nostalgia.     hahahaha. Ya, it's great to b able to laugh at urself anytime for anything.... " Get rid of and/or drop the Attitude" U say. " all started somewhere". TRUE. I'd call it a form a drive/determination to be and want and have better. Striving for more. Lookin back at old stuff of urself can also be ur own teacher/guide for a reminder/refresher of mistakes, skill, and even more/different/better ideas for creation/creativity on the path ur blazin that no one's been before.     You are so humble now and even if you put in perspective, where you were when you were at that age.... Someone once taught me that being the most cocky guitar player I'm the room is a good thing in a certain way. You have to market yourself. Now that you're where you're at you don't have to do that anymore. But you made it to where you are for being who you were. Love you samus

    Bought my Alesis DM5 used back in 2012 or so, still have it and I still use it to this day. Mine was produced back in 2004 so going on 17 years + it's been through hell and back with me I guess you could say it's quite an unbreakable piece of technology

    The "Flies" cover was the first video I ever saw of yours, and I've been a fan of yours ever since 🤘😎❤️ I still have an Alesis DM5! I haven't used it in a couple years because the memory kept clearing every time I turned it off. Probably just needs a new CMOS battery 🤷‍♂️

    I have a dm5, I used the fusion sample detuned hahaha. Got the roland td2 and use a studio recording of my kick to trigger now.
