Crowded House - Fall At Your Feet Live 1991
• Crowded House - "Fall ...
Lyrics
I'm really close tonight
And I feel like I'm moving inside her
Lying in the dark
And I think that I'm beginning to know her
Let it go
I'll be there when you call
And whenever I fall at your feet
You let your tears rain down on me
Whenever I touch, your slow turnin' pain
You're hidin' from me now
There's somethin' in the way that you're talkin'
The words don't sound right
But I hear them all moving inside you
Know
I'll be waiting when you call
Hey, whenever I fall at your feet
Won't you let your tears rain down on me?
Whenever I touch, your slow turnin' pain
The finger of blame has turned upon itself
And I'm more than willing to offer myself
Do you want my presence or need my help?
Who knows where that might lead
I fall
Whenever I fall at your feet
Won't you let your tears rain down on me?
Whenever I fall (at your feet)
Whenever I fall
hey guys, i watched your crowded house reaction from 11-mths back - very cool btw. had to laugh when you said that the submission reiterated "australian band," loved it. the lead singer and his brother who both sing the vocals and write the lyrics are both kiwis (new zealand), formerly of the band split enz - but there are 2 talented australians in the band as well. we kiwis love to claim our own when we can from the big country across the ditch (it is what it is). anyways here's another crowded house masterclass. cheers, matt ps travis, you asked in the last video why they broke up - it was because neill finn (lead vocals) decided time was up, and when you lose a vocalist/songwriter of his class, the time is up!!

It’s Aussie (like Ozzie)… the kiwi is a flightless bird unique to New Zealand and one of their national emblems. The fruit that you call a kiwi has that name because it was first commercialised in New Zealand, we call it a “kiwi fruit” not to be confused with the bird (which we don’t eat) or the people (which we might eat if they’re cute) 😂

The two Finn brothers are both musical geniuses. They are loved in both NZ and Australia. We grew up with so much great music from across the ditch who migrated across to Oz to share their talents with a larger audience. Great bands like The La De Da's, Dragon, Mi-sex, Mother Goose, Split Enz to just name a few. These bands were loved on both sides of the ditch. Go the Kiwis.

This was the wedding song for probably half of NZ and Australia, Kiwis and Aussies are chilled people so a lot of our music is like that but there are so many other bands also great from metal and hard rock through alternative and pop to name a few genres. My generation grew up with this band, their songs were played everywhere and hearing them again takes me back to those endless summers of youth.

Neil Finn (the lead singer) and his brother Tim Finn (in the green shirt) are both Kiwi icons who were formerly in another iconic Kiwi band Split Enz. Tim was only in the band for a short time and it's most remembered as a Trio. Although Neil and Tim Finn are Kiwi's (it's what we call ourselves and no we don't eat them, they are endangered) crowded house is generally considered an Australian band as the were formed and based out of Melbourne (that and Paul and Nick are Aussies). The drummer Paul Hester also drummed in Split Enz for a period. Kiwi's and Aussies have a friendly habit of claiming each others celebrities and bands but the plain and simple truth of it was that although New Zealand produced a lot of fantastic bands in the 70s and 80s they often had to travel to Australia to make a living as musicians.

Where a band formed is irrelevant. If Swedes formed a band in London it doesn't make them an English band, if a group of English musicians formed a band in the US, even if they moved there years before, if even got big there first, they are still English!!! At best you could call Crowded House a NZ/Aus Band because of the members nationalities, but they just aren't an Australian band. If you took Neil and Tim out of the band from the start they'd never have made it big internationally, and that's not a criticism of the other Australian band members, they just wouldn't have, the driving force and songwriting came from the Kiwi members of the band, it's as simple as that. Australia still goals NZ as a province of it in its constitution, I think that says it all!!!

Looking back at the origins of the fruit it actually came from China and was known as a Chinese gooseberry before some in a marketing department here in New Zealand got their hands on it…

Z for ozzie = aussie etc. Kiwi music is a very big thing, it's genetic in the Maori people who settled the place, long ago. Try Englebert Humperdink and Kiri te Anawa. Smooth music is in them from birth, with their beautiful voices and war songs in Maori, they learn them as kids, frighten footy crowds still. Yes, most of the kiwi fruit is edible, green is tho most known in aus, but yellow works too, we have been getting kiwi berries too, bite size, green, smooth skin, turning up in the shops. There is a hard stalk bit, and a fuszzy bit on the opposite end you can take off, then wash it and eat the rest. They are very lovely sliced with a ring of small seeds showing, on desserts like a pavlova. That is not pavalova, there is no a in the middle.

If you pronounce aussie with a hard S sound you're pretty much giving yourself away as an American. Natives come from Oz and pronounce it that way.

Aussie is pronounced OZZie. Kiwi music is appropriate. Kiwis are both a fruit and a bird.
