    I made the arm for the disc tool (1:28) and Metabo didn't do anything about it. The originals are made for CIBO and they deliver them to metabo with their brand on it. The're made in Izegem, Belgium (my previous employer). I'm still glad that something I (and only I) made goes around the world to help people out :). Also all the internal parts (except belt) are made in the same factory. The housing is milled out of a solid piece aluminium and coated afterwards.

    nice demo but you left out the equipment prices. There is over $3000 in just electronics plus a few hundred more in disks. $3500+ sounds a bit high for most situations. Don't get me wrong the tools are nice but they are priced a bit out of reach for smaller welding operations.

    Those 150mm fleece discs cost over £30 each, how long do they last? Have you used the newer 125mm tan coloured fleece discs? The hole in the black disc is bigger, 25mm vs 22mm. Is the back nut on the fillet weld grinder normal?

  • @sofia20061

    The fleece compact grinding discs (VKS) last 20 - 30 hours, depending on application. Hole is 1" = 25,4 mm. Which "tan coloured" fleece discs do you mean? The video was made in 2010. In the meantime there are plenty of new accessories in the market available. I don`t understand what you mean with "back nut". Maybe you take a photo and send it by mail to hjmarzinzik@metabo.de

    sofia20061 these are the tan discs, they are 125mm by 22mm hole. www.metabo.co.uk/Product-catalogue-accessories-handheld-powertools.23956+M541d44627bc.0.html The grinder has 2 nuts, the first one has a shoulder to centralise the disc, I assume the shoulder on this machine is 1" so the tan discs would not fit.

    "Tan discs" 626482000 and 626483000: Max. working speed 80 m/s = max. permitted speed 10.000 RPM = can be used on regular grinders. Discs have been designed for flat head grinders, especially WEVF 10-125 Quick Inox because recommended speed on Inox is 3.000 RPM. Cannot be used on filled weld grinders because hole is 22,23 mm.

    $2,300 for a Metabo Magnetic Core Drill vs $1,300 for a Milwaukee. The Milwaukee has better specs, is built better, and is cheaper than Metabo garbage. At my shop we bought one Metabo product for polishing. used it once, think it's sitting in the corner gathering dust because it just wasn't as good as anything else we had.

    Only Metabo's I have owned failed very quickly. They are rubbish compared to Makita. Have got one Makita ten years old and still works perfectly.

  • @obfuscated3090

    @obfuscated3090

    Bummer! I still have an "all green" Metabo 6" that's superb, but the company changed their design and the only reason that ever happens is to cut production costs. I maintained a fleet of Metabo, DeWalt, Milwaukee and Makita grinders and I buy by model instead of brand. The green/black Metabo 6" and similar are not "old Metabo" quality and I don't care who contends otherwise. I do all my own repairs and I have ample electrical, machining and mechanical background. Makita make consistently good tools. Most angle grinders are now made in China, but quality control is a CHOICE and so is design. BTW Walter make some amazing (and expensive) abrasives which like 3M products are worth the money.
