I'd love to see that. Partey to win the ball in defensive areas then pass straight out to Ozil to create the chances. He has very little defensive work rate, but that's fine for an attacking creator, managers should be able to setup the team around him - just hope Arteta sees this now we've got Partey and he puts Ozil back in the team

I think Arteta always recognize Ozil qualities as creative midfielder and want to play him out. We build this current team arguably to cover him doing most of the defensive work. But all of these political issues around the club and ozil makes him singled out from the team. Hes been training with the rest of the squad and give supportive comments for his teammates too. Its not Arteta decisions to leave out Ozil and sadly looking at the current situation, we might not see Ozil plays for Arsenal again. Heartbreaking.

@@humayunkabir5837 I agree there's no hope now they even purposely left the squad inflated after the window to justify dropping him from the squad...they're desperate to get rid of him, sad really because it has nothing to do with football. He was ruined under Emery...didn't adjust well to his tactics nor did the squad to be fair...but they choose to scapegoat him after that and he was in and out of the squad until Arteta arrived. The 18 months under Emery really set the club back...in hindsight who knows what would've happened if we signed Mikel after Wenger left, we'd probably be having a completely different conversation.

It's a damn shame the board rather have Arteta exile him from his squad. Arteta knows Ozil's quality with two midfielders sitting behind him. Regardless of how the media paints him to be I still believe Ozil might just be the final puzzle to us playing beautiful football again.

Don't you see that in his style of football, he doesn't run as much as other players, but his ball runs for him! Look at all the beautiful goals scored over the past 4-5 years, Ozil is involved in all of them! Ozil is the missing puzzle, the one that we need so Auba and Laca can go crazy again! @@MrHarule its ugly but it works, Mikel said it himself, beautiful football isn't a priority anymore. We all loved the beautiful Wenger ball but the team had to move on or get stuck at the past like we did for about a whole decade. Also, in his latest games (at least the most recent ones), he actually was not as lazy as people percepts him as and was running a lot. Mikel wanted 110% commitment from his players and for numerous time he expressed he was ready to give his all. So, i dont think his work rate was the problem but we could only speculate, the people at the training grounds would know better...

Ozil covered more ground that most of his teammate if you check the stats, Ozil is a world class player, if you think running around making tackles are the type of playmaker Arsenal need then you are clueless about football, KDB, David silva, even the great Bergkamp they don't play that way. There are reasons why Mourinho starts Ozil over other players in RM, and don't forget Ozil was in the first 11 for Germany too. He can take out defenders with his vision, passing or simple intelligent touch, his positioning creates space for other attackers too. Of course Ozil has his weaknesses, but it is up to the manager to get the best out of his players and play to their strength. So sad to see how the fans and board treated Ozil.

Arsenal’s board is to blame for not playing Ozil. Since the arrival of Arteta, Ozil was playing a lot of games and getting his rhythm back.. it was when Ozil got involved with politics and the China incident that took a weird turn. Arsenal’s board probably is telling Arteta not to play Ozil because they don’t wanna lose supporters around the world. It’s really tough to see this happen because he was getting his groove back before the Covid-19 break. It’s a joy to watch this man play.

I miss the days of us actually pinning back the opposition and boxing them in creating chance after chance and blitzing them. Could you imagine Partey and auba in our 2015/16 team? We would have 100% gave a better account of ourselves. Who's not say that we may have even won the league that year.

It is also a disgrace how Oil treats the club. When you are on 350K a week at least I would expect is that the player is loyal. One of the best playmaker in the world and we treat him like this, this man walks into a star-studded Real Madrid team and also for his country Germany. I don't know what the fans expect but you don't buy a world class playmaker to run like a headless chicken on the pitch making tackles, we should utilize him to his strengths, Arsenal always lack good defender and defensive midfielder, if we had that we could have kept Sanchez and Ozil to compete for the title. While I don't always agree with him, prime Mesut Ozil was truly a sight to behold. He made football beautiful in a way few can emulate. It is for that reason he will always have a place in my top 5 favorite players.
