Messi takes issue with new MLS rule

Спорт

New MLS time wasting rule is well intentioned but poorly executed. Messi takes his shots at new rules.

But isn't that what extra time is supposed to solve? The ref takes note of any stoppages of play and add extra time accordingly.

Messi just has to fall in line, as he's in Merica now. We're the revolutionizing the game the Murican way. 🙄

If MLS wants to increase viewership and exposure then make MLS available and not behind a pay wall. The soccer product, even with Messi, overall is not good enough to restrict availability. I’ll get up at 4:30 on a Saturday for the premier league but won’t spend 60-100 bucks a month to watch the young and old in the MLS.

Quite frankly the rule is stupid.

Agreed, I think they just need VAR refs to clock the time for injuries and then enforce injury time down to the second.

Anyone from Argentina out there? What was the second part of what he said. The first sentence makes sense: “si ponen este tipo de regla” that part makes sense and translates well for my Cuban Spanish, but the second part, what exactly did he say IN SPANISH? Thanks! Edit: I played it back in 1/4 speed and it sounds like he said “mal vamos.” So that makes sense now.

No, he said something else. But the translation of the last words from Argentinian Spanish to Standard Spanish is: 'I don't want to be a part of it if that's how things are going to be."

Players have the right to know if they are ok to play so they would want to get checked by medical staffs before getting on their feet. In the middle of the rough match, players would feel pressure to check if their body is not injured. I see the reason why MLS has that rule. It doesn't want their players kill time rolling around the ground like Middle Eastern players. Bed soccer. But I think, still, the rule is not fair.

Aww poor baby is sad cause he actually has to follow a rule, a rule that goes against his very fabric of play style. Messi and Co waste more time on flops than the entire rest of the league

It's a stupid rule. An injured player needs to sit out just because the player who fouled him didn't get a yellow card for the offense? Seriously, punish a player for being fouled? It's a braindead stupid rule and needs to go away.

@@noobmaster31 If he's actually injured then he can't play.. then don't waste time and sub him out cuz he's injured.. like you said. If he needs time to cry about his boo boo then yeah he should sit out for a couple minutes so he can cry on the sideline before he's ready to keep playing.

@RickyRicardo84 you've clearly never played or watched soccer. A knock on the pitch doesn't mean you're out for the rest of the game. Sometimes, players need a bit to get back up. They get winded, etc. The rule is dumb because the player who was fouled, i.e. the victim is punished.
