@Zio Ball. Wonderful video. I appreciate your time and efforts a lot. But I'll say that what sparks some of these controversies is the lack of credibility and inconsistency of the award itself. Just like in an old video you made, since football is a team sport, awards like the ballon d'or should focus on individual brilliance without so much emphasis on team success. So if team success alone was the criterion and the world cup always weighs heavily, then I understand why people say he shouldn't have won in 2010 but maybe Iniesta or Xavi. He also shouldn't have won in 2019 but Van dijk. Then even in 2012 maybe Drogba or Iniesta should've won. But if the award is based on consistent individual performances in a calendar year or season, then Messi should've won 11 by my calculations and not just 8. If it's a combination of individual brilliance and team success, then Messi probably shouldn't have won in 2010 but sneijder maybe but that means he should've won at least 9 or 10 as well. If it's based on stats, then again Messi should've won at least 9. So yes, on the one hand based on the inconsistent criteria of the ballon d'or Messi won a few questionable ones, but based on what the ballon d'or should've been....Messi deserved at least 11 including that one in 2010 where he was miles ahead of everyone. I think you should do a video comparison of what the ballon d'or has been vs what the ballon d'or should actually have been for every year since maybe 2000 so it helps clear the confusion in people's minds. People seem to think of Messi deserved this one in 2023, then he didn't the one of 2010.....also if he deserved the one of 2010, then Haaland deserved this one as well. Faulty parallel for me but at least I understand where they come from. It's all down to the non-credibility of the award for me which has sometimes favoured Messi, but for the most part done him a disservice. Some say CR7 was robbed in 2018 for eg😂😂😂. But this is only because they got used to him winning those he didn't deserve the most like in 2016 and 17 simply because his team won the UCL and he was top scorer......this adds to my point. Depends on which way you look at it: Some Messi fans say modric deserved 2018 ballon dor because of the World Cup but when someone says Ronaldo they immediately start saying no but when you mention the 2010 ballon dor to them they say individual performance matters more. And you can’t say Messi deserved the 2023 ballon dor if you think Messi deserved the 2010 ballon dor because of his individual performance (I’m not gonna lie he was terrible in the 2010 World Cup.) so choose your side. Wining two trophies with 54 goals and so many individual awards did not deseave it. Iniesta is just 8 goals. And how many individual awards i don't know. Fear enough. Many compare to 2023 but it is very clear. There goals statistic betwen messi and haaland is very close unlike messi and Iniesta in 2010. Individual awards are very equally competitive and team awards as well. In such an instance, That is where the World Cup winner stands out. If you win the world cup but you are far behind in term of indiviuals awards,goals statistics, keys performance and other criteria used. you didn't desearve it such like messi and Iniesta in 2010. Thats the clearer statistical criteria where we should understand because ballon d'or awards is based on so many criteria. Not such one either goals scorer, trophies, key performance and many more.

Every player of the tournament award that was eligible for Snejider to win was all taken by Milito and Eto’o even the inter Milan player of the year 2010 went to Milito including the UEFA men’s best player in Europe. Snejider only did extremely well in the World Cup and that was literally it whereas messi proved to be the best player for Barca in the la liga, champions league and win quite a lot of individual awards unlike Snejider so there’s your answer.

Messi deserved that ballon d’or since he won the World Cup 2022 while being the best player and 2nd highest goalscorer of the tournament, displaying arguably the greatest WC performance of all time. He was even PSG’s best player helping them secure the ligue 1 title for the 2nd time in a row whilst being the only player to register 15+ goals and 15+ assist in a single season in the French league. There’s so much more that I can add on as to why he deserved it

Fyi, he was the most highly rated player on the team, in Europe, for that matter, the only one with an overall 8/10 and the most Motms, 14. Mbappe was second with only 7 Morms, Haaland 7th with 6. His goal won the Ligue 1 championship.He was a playmaker, they don't have to score goals, they do a lot more than that, building up the play and distributing goals. Pls. learn football and stop embarrassing yourself.

@@RonaldoHater777it’s still a top 5 league in europe, plus there have been players from PSG that have actually finished in the top 10 and beyond because of their performance in the league. Also how can you call the league mediocre when there has been 3 different winners since 2017 but for the Bundesliga Bayern have been winning it 11 times in a row since 2013.

@@KM_1304 Lmao, Ligue 1 is extremely trash compared to Premier League, also 1 goal in EPL is better than 10 goals in Ligue 1 + Messi was indeed mediocre in PSG with no POTM awards or even the best player of the year award. Don't try to compare Ligue 1 to Bundesliga and EPL, and don't try to justify an average performance by Messi. I'm also knocked out in UCL while Haaland is winning a treble and broke all Premier league goals record.
