Another interesting thing to mention is how lax South American refs are on tackles, a red card in Europe often isn't even a yellow card or sometimes even a foul in South America. Ronaldo has been heavily protected in Europe and Messi has had those same protections for club, but for country he gets kicked about relentlessly. Its one more thing that has held Messi back. Honestly anyone who thinks Messi wouldn't had 150-200 goals if he could play against teams ranked 198th instead of 45th is crazy.

don't talk as if Ronaldo has to play all the 20 countries you have mentioned in one tournament. In UEFA Euro 2016, Portugal finished third in Group F, with draws against Iceland, Austria and Hungary.. they played Poland in the QF and Wales in the SF. How many of your powerhouse countries or World Cup winners did Portugal play to win the Euro 2016. If Copa America is that easy why did Argentina not win it for a long time. The tournament has three World Cup winners who have at least won it twice. They have a combined 10 World Cups between them. In fact, Portugal should be on the list of your countries" that can give trouble every game"

you also have to count up the rankings of their teams, like Portugal was never the best or second best team in Europe apart from a short stint when he was young and in 2016, but other than Brazil, there isn't any COMNEBOL side that comes close to them

Nation's league is more of a friendly type of tournament,it's like the confederations cup, it doesn't hold as much value as other continental tourneys, just look at how many points a win in the nations league gives compared to a win in the euro cup!
