It's just that those who really understand the game, appreciate Messi more for his skills, focus, resilience and gameplans. Basically he's a good fellow in addition to being a great footballer. Pele was definitely more skilled but he didn't play club football in Europe. Maradona had skill and resilience which were visible when he faced tough tackling in the 80s & 90s. It's just that he was less disciplined and made poor life choices. Messi is a more complete package.

We all expect instant messi magic playing like this in his new team but that is not possible. There's a difference between when a team is built around you that makes you feel more responsible(as Benzema at Madrid) and another thing to say when you're supposed to contribute to an already built team. So it's not a matter of they passing the ball to him. He need time to adapt, he's a human and he will do well when kylian moves and the team is built around him.
