Mesa Subway WD-800/112 cab Overview

#mesa #bassamp #basshead #bass #review #mesaboogie #subway #wd800 #112 #basscab
Hello! Today we are checking out the Subway WD-800 head and Subway 112 cab from Mesa. There is so much available from this setup that it's hard to cover everything. Excuse the clams the outro - I managed to butcher the same note twice, so ... JAZZ?
Feel free to ask any questions. I can do additional videos to go more in depth if people would like that.
Please comment, like and subscribe and thanks for watching!

Great video! There are not many out there. I have the WD800 with a Subway 212 sitting on a Subway 115 and it is simply astonishing! Best Bass rig I have ever owned and played, and I have about just about all of them in the past 40 years.

That setup must really boom. I know either of my heads with a single 112 gets nice and loud.

The 112 reproduces the low frequencies very well! I like the cab oriented so it stands taller.

I've watched alot of your videos and appreciate the great run downs. I have a chance to get a Subway 112 Cab for around 600 bucks, but am still torn between saving a touch more for the 115. I tried their 212 Cab at Sweetwater and loved it. But it could be awhile before I found a second 112. Also can't decide between a D800 or D800+ Amp. I'm just getting back in the game after a hiatus haha.

Decisions, decisions! I haven't had a chance to do a video on the 115 yet, life got in the way, but it is probably the best all around cab I have ever played through. It can handle any gig from low volume to a large room with no PA support. The form factor is small for a 115 as well. The 115 is a little more full sounding and the 112 may be more mid present. Between the D800 and D800+ it comes down to if you are a set it and forget it type or if you want full control over everything. The D800 is a perfect set it and forget head.

I’m about to buy this amp. Man, this is an excellent demo. Now I’ve got to decide on the 112 and the 115. Any suggestions?

I have not been lucky enough to check out the 15, yet. The store I got the 112 at was supposed to have the 115 but it was out. They just got one in, so I'm really tempted now! The 112 is a great cab as it is relatively lightweight and it can get really loud. From what I understand, the 115 has a little more low end than the 112, but that does not mean the 112 is lacking in low end. The WD/112 set up is a pretty good choice for all purpose gigging. It will handle a normal sized club and provide plenty of volume if you're going direct. After making this video, I got a great deal on a 210, even though I was looking for a 115. The 210 is ridiculously light for the size it is and has a little bit more of a fuller sound than the 112. I have paired them, based on the recommendation of the guy that designed them, and found the sound to be nice, full and loud. The 210 goes a little lower than the 112 but not as low as the 115. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse, LOL. I'll be glad to answer any other questions.

Do all the features on this head eliminate the need for any pedals used on other heads cheaper in price?

Well, it depends what features you are looking for. The switchable EQ allows yo to not need a separate EQ and you can set it to provide a boost so it can take the place of that. The DI is among the best on any amp so you would not need any outboard box. The great thing about Mesa is that they are focused on building the best possible amp so they only include what is necessary and don't have built in compressors, choruses, digital effects etc.

Do you feel the 112/wd800 volume is sufficient for rock gigs?

Really depends on how loud the band is, but I'm really impressed with how loud I can get the WD800/112 setup to go. You get a nice breeze from the ports when you really crank it! If you're playing loud metal or stoner rock, it may not do the trick (a 215 would!) but for most "reasonable" bar rock gigs, absolutely.
