It's an understatement to say that Merle was the best singer/songwriter/guitar player combo country music has ever had,,,,but it should be noted that he was so humble and so gracious .... i love how he dedicated it to George, his wife Theresa, Benny and Janessa(his two young children), then right at the end he thought to include Trace and Lori. A gentleman to the end,,,love you Merle!

You can't beat the Ole Timers like Merle, George, Waylon, Johnny and so many more! Country isn't Country anymore.

The TRUE KING OF COUNTRY MUSIC wrote over 200 songs. 38 #1 HITS ........ George Straight only wrote 11...... rumors has it he sang nearly 600 different songs in his 60 year's on stage... died on stage.. 2016 caught pneumonia... what a LEGEND WENT OUT TRYING TO KICK THE FOOTLIGHTS OUT 1 MORE TIME

well he didn't die on stage,,,,but his last performance on stage was just 7 weeks before he died,,,he was very sick at that time, but he had the "show must go on" attitude. He gave his life to music, that's for dang sure!

@MEGATRON9090 - I actually have every single episode of the George Jones Show on DVD. I taped each episode back in the 90's, and transfered them to DVD recently. I'd like to put the full episodes on youtube, but the last time I put a full episode it was pulled for infringement. I cannot see how anyone's copyrite is being violated because the George Jones show was filmed for TNN, and TNN no longer exists. Dang youtube!! lol .Oh well. Thanks for watching!!

Merle Haggard is my second favorite . It wasn't only his singing and songwriting abilities, it's the way he delivered his songs.

+Branon Fontaine - Nah- he just loved Merle Haggard- when Hag would sing Jones was like a kid in a candy store. He thought the Hag was pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread! George was pretty clean at this point in his life... BUT this episode was taped BEFORE his accident, so he was still "sneaking" a drink here or there- but his wife Nancy was present for the taping of all these shows so he wouldn't have been sneaking any drinks when she was around. Later this same year, after the accident, he never took another drink ever again- he even quit smoking cigarettes and swore off of caffeine as well.

@bustsomeballs - I do actually, I have every single episode from the George Jones Show series, and it is filled with performances just like this, but for some reason the windows movie maker stopped letting me save movie files and upload them to youtube. I do not know any other way to post anyhting. I am working on it. I plan to put up many clips from the show.
