Don't misunderstand me, I am happy that Meredith is still alive, but it is so hard to loose Derek again. I was so happy that he is back and I was full of hope that they find a solution to give him more scenes. And then the picture when he goes away from Meredith and is walking alone away from the beach - it breaks my heart. I can't do this anymore 😭

She could just stay with Derek, Lexie, Mark and George, but she didn’t, she choose her kids, and that’s a thing that only a great mother could do.

I feel like the show is going to HAVE to end with an elderly Meredith dying peacefully, her kids all grown and living their own lives and she walks off on the beach with Derek. Like, I can't see anything else feeling like a proper end after this? And as much as people love the show, no show can actually last forever. This whole beach thing felt like they were planning to end the series without actually announcing it to shock everyone but maybe changed their minds? Maybe I'm overthinking things again XD

I agree! Cristina told Meredith she was going to die an old lady in her bed so I think that is the perfect ending for Grey’s.

Derek's love for Meredith is in the way he hugs her tightly.. he breathes her in.. takes in her lavender scent.. places a tender kiss on her hair.. and he lets her go, because that's what's best for her! it was not her time, and sometimes loving someone is knowing when to let them go.. because you know that when the time is right, they'll come right back to you! MerDer's love is strong enough to let each other go, because in the end this is forever and they'll end up together when the time is right!! 💚💙

You have to realize, that it's not really Derek. It's Meredith being in love with Derek still after all this time. She's created a safe space for herself in her own mind. Derek hugs are her own manifestation of what she feels she needs in that moment. She wants to die, and make the heartache she's going through over Derek to go away. She feels life isn't worth going on anymore without Derek. She misses Derek, but you have to remember their real relationship was never this lovey dovey thing. They always argued and fought over something trivial. So in her own head she is creating the verision of Derek she always had hoped he would be. Derek in real life cheated on Meredith with an intern. So they won't really end up together. Everything that is being played out, is through Merediths emotions and mind.

@@Owlpire there's a reason she imagined him the way she did, in a way that she knows him. i'm sure derek would want her to live for their children even if it wasn't just in her head. their relationship may not have been a fairytale, but it doesn't mean that he didn't love her any less than she loves him. at the end of the day, we all make mistakes.

I'm a wreck. THIS was the good bye I needed between Meredith and Derek. The good bye I think Patrick deserved after 11 seasons. It took six years but seeing these two actors laugh together again was wonderful. This episode--all of it--was so beautifully written and acted. "WE love you, Zozo." 😭❤

When Derek died, I skipped school because I was so devastated. My boss better be watching out for the “I’m not coming in” text today, because I’m heartbroken all over again.

This is the most traumatizing "Meredith Death" in all 17 seasons! I mean we all know she's not gonna die because she's immortal but the negotiation about Season 18 is making me nervous as well. Thank God she's really awake and there's a chance we can get another season. 17 seasons is not enough =( And i hope we can get another "What/If" episode with Derek and OG casts as well.

“We love you” got me, legit holding back those tears until she said that and then I just broke

this puts a massive lump in my throat, so close to home, my mum passed away in dec 2019 just before covid, but was on a vent, the week before her death she was in an induced coma, it was the hardest moment of my life. well done to the cast on portraying the emotional roller coaster that is called high ventilation. it's not easy.

Amelia’s cries always makes me cry, her “I need her to live” got me, but when Zozo was talking to her mom and seeing Mer wake up got me more. What finally pulled the trigger was when Derek smiled and walked back on the beach. This goodbye was even harder than the first... I cannot- I’m not going to be well tomorrow or ever again. For the finale if it ever comes, we better have a scene where old Mer goes to the beach to walk with Derek 😩. That’s the only acceptable ending I think we all deserve after this episode.

I cried this whole season, but this part I cried with emotion and joy to see Zola waking up his mother 😘 wonderful

I’m happy they redeemed his character and gave merediths character (and us) the closure that was needed for Derek.

To see Meredith and Derek stand together...it shows that the love and chemistry was still there!! And when they shot Derek walking away, all I could do was 😭😭😭!

This hit so hard. My aunt died from COVID all alone in a hospital. I hadn’t seen her in 2 months because my partner had covid. I wish someone could’ve been there for her. It breaks me to think about what it must’ve been like.
