The car was sold for a mere 1000 euro's. Pains my heart.
A video of a cold start of a 1986 Mercedes w201 190d 2.5 diesel automatic, made last week, filmed with a nokia 808 pureview. Ambient temperatures were around 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C. Key to remember getting this car started in any weather properly is letting the glow plugs glow for as long as possible. Just before I start the engine, you can hear the glow plugs being switched off with a soft "click".

Had one of these years ago. Such a beautiful sounding diesel. Had 500,000km when we sold it.

I bought one and it has 510.000km but runs beautiful.
my brother have a 190d 2.5 too its just amazing how it starts at -20 -25c
The 190 & W124 is to of the best cars ever made

I cold started a 190d 2.0 in -32. Two glows and a chug, and it went.
Sounds like my 2004 polo even when its like 15C outside :D

These engines are good for 1 million miles i saw one in Germany with 700k and it was mint
I have never seen a diesel Mercedes-Benz that clean and sound like that it's perfect and well taken care of. Could only understand a bit of the German but great car

Jammer dat je hem niet meer hebt, klinkt lekker zo'n mercedes diesel. Ik heb een benzine 2.0 W201. Ik heb zelfs met warmer weer altijd zoveel vocht tegen de ruiten van binnen. De garage weet het niet. Enig idee?

Hi Can you tell me why the most of check up lights in your instrument cluster doesn´t light up when yopu turn the key? I have the same problem, and don't know how to fix it :(

are you sure that glow plugs are still "glowing" after the light turns off? if yes, then why glow plug warning light turns off early? :D

you can actually hear the glow plug relay switch off. they switch off 30 seconds later, or so, than the lights

glow plugs are working even if engine is running to heat the engine. It will turn off at some engine temperature.

Trzeba było włączyć grzanie świec przed otwieraniem maski silnika. P.S. Ci Holendrzy mówią, jakby mieli jakiegoś gluta w gardle, albo pyzę (jak w "Misiu" Barei).
Dat zijn goeie wagens ! Zeker blijven rijden. Die kunnen zeker 2 miljoen tot 4 miljoen km rijden.

Jammer!! Kenteken ongeldig verklaard 😢.. beginnen nu toch echt super zeldzaam aan het worden. Heb zelf exact dezelfde 2.5 190D ook uit 1986, vorig jaar gekocht... Wel in erbarmelijke staat maar de motor draait super.. bedoeling is om deze van top tot teen op te knappen

No airbags, no abs, no AC, no electric windows, no traction aids, no electric rooftop, no heated seats. This is what mine has. This is why the car has over 660K Km. The interior is like new.
