Mercedes EQS 2022 - advanced TECHNOLOGY & crazy SAFETY systems

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Taking a look at the official Mercedes footage of the all-new Mercedes EQS 2022 model.
The EQS is the first all-electric luxury saloon from Mercedes-EQ. With it, Mercedes-EQ is redefining this vehicle segment. The EQS is also the first model to be based on the modular architecture for luxury and executive-class electric vehicles. Fusing technology, design, functionality and connectivity, the EQS delights both drivers and passengers.
INTELLIGENT PARKING PILOT: highly automated driverless parking in suitable multi-storey car parks
Mercedes-Benz goes a step further when it comes to parking: With the pre-installation for the INTELLIGENT PARK PILOT, the EQS is prepared for automated valet service (AVP, SAE level 4). Together with the required optional equipment and the corresponding Connect service (depending on the country), the new EQS has the technology on board to park fully automatically and driverless in car parks equipped with the AVP infrastructure, provided that national laws permit such operation.
The vision: The driver parks their vehicle securely within a predefined drop-off area of the parking garage and starts the parking process via smartphone app after all occupants have exited. The sensor system in the car park checks whether a suitable space is available. If so, the driver receives confirmation on the app that the vehicle has been taken over by the AVP infrastructure. Now they can leave the EQS and the car park.
The vehicle is then started automatically, and automatically drives to its parking space with the help of the infrastructure installed in the car park. Conversely, the driver can have their EQS drive up to a predefined pick-up area by smartphone command.
Remote Parking Assist: convenient manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces
Without a driver on board, the EQS is on the move with Remote Parking. However, the driver is still responsible. Remote Parking Assist[2] allows drivers to control a parking process via their smartphone and the Remote Parking App while outside but in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. This means more comfort when getting in and out and protects against damage when opening the vehicle doors.
Remote Parking Assist parks the vehicle at the driver's request and under the driver's constant control if an appropriate parking scenario has been selected via the central display in the EQS or the app on the smartphone.
The basic functions of the systems in the Driving Assistance Package included as standard can be found here. The following are key highlights, often only available as part of the Driving Assistance Package Plus (included in the Advanced Package Plus, Premium Package or Premium Plus Package).
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
On all types of roads - motorways, country roads or in town - this intelligent system can automatically maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead.

After crashing my car into a truck I've come to realize how damn important these systems are. The crash happened in Bulgaria on the way to The Netherlands when a truck in front of me pulled a full emergency stop. Eventhough I had 5 cars of distance the emergency brakes on a truck are just way too strong. Luckily me and my family made it out safely and only the hood and radiator were broken. I am writing this as I'm waiting for the car to be repaired. If the extra money will unsure the safety of me and my family, I am going to get it no matter the cost. Never overestimate your reaction time boys, it is not worth it.

  • @lubder

    2 жыл бұрын

That's part of the regulation, the system is currently only allowed in traffic jams, by law. If there is no car in front of you, then there is no traffic jam, it's as simple as that. It says nothing about the capability of the system, of course it could be activated without a car, like the standard level 2 assistance system. The difference to all other systems is, Mercedes is liable for it.

You have to account for regulations and laws, a car can't just randomly reverse on it's own. Risky if something is behind the car like a small child or so, sensors may not always see it. The driver should be the one placing the car into reverse, not the car randomly reversing itself.

@@djgoodguy3681 I never said that the driver isn't in the car. I said that the driver made no command to allow the car to reverse. It's different in Tesla and other autopilot vehicles because you enable autopilot yourself, or with smart park vehicles, you enable the smart park function yourself. The technology is also not mature enough. Tesla's autopilot crashed into a stationary vehicle in the recent months. There's room for failure, if the systems fail or the sensors fail to see an obstacle or child which is completely possible, it could easily reverse into another vehicle or pedestrian while trying to avoid an incident. I can guarantee you an automatic reversing system as such would violate many vehicle operation safety regulations.

LOL, With Their 60 kph limited drive pilot or with their basic 2021 car stater pack safety features ?? It looks like their spent all of their frickin money on auto parking, and the safety features are the exact same but changing their names. THERE IS NOT AUTO BRAKING FOR CARS OR PEDESTRIANS OR OTHER CRAP, IT IS JUST AUTO BRAKE.

@@meriofrog nah, the Special Thing ist that u are allowed to leave the Steering-wheel and do Something Else. If you usw the Tesla Autopilot U have to keep your hands on the Steering-wheel, and If an accident Happens, its the drivers fault. And that ist the Main difference.

@@valentin6824 correct yourself. Tesla is way ahead in safety and autopilot features. This is just a demonstration, you need to see in real traffic, it will be a different level. For the 'keep your hands on the wheel thing', this is a regulation and compliance requirement and not Tesla fault. Mercedes will definitely require the driver to keep hands on wheel.

@@farhatsam8529 nah, thats the Thing. The Mercedes ist able to Run lvl 3 Autopilot which means until a Speed of 60 km/h you are allowed to Take your Hands of the Steering-wheel and let the Car Drive. If an accident Happens Then, Mercedes Takes over zur Costs for IT. The ,,normal Auto Pilot" have gibt both Cars.

This is super trash, the car should be able to detect the approaching cyclist way earlier and slow down... Almost hitting the cyclist and banging your head in the wheel - much technology, so impressive.
