I think the Dougscore is a bit daft because everyone just watches the quirks anyway haha!

In my local mercedes dealer they have a pretty similarly specced (amg line but bigger wheels) emerald green 220d coupe, and I can confirm that colour is the one to get, looks petrol blue from one angle and when the sun really hits it, the flake in the colour is magnificent.

I would buy it just for the interior, looks so good!

Matt is informative but fun to watch. Well presented, great video.

You guys should start selling-shirts that say "My car is blummin lovely!". Great review, Great car.

I agree with Feelsqtpman, its far from perfect. Limited front visibility from the pillars. Limited rear visibility. Poor input method for the infotainment. Far too much black, making the car look dark. Of course you could put lighter seats in, and hopefully a lighter roof lining?? From the 360 degree video it looks too dark/black inside, but maybe that is made worse by the camera? .

I really love the way you review cars and to me this is one of the best way to learn about a car if not the best. Details, humor everything is spot on. I have noticed that your driving position is too close to the steering wheel, is this just a preference of yours or is it the right way to drive. Great review Matt, though there isn't a 3 litre diesel (slight slip!). I have this very car minus the air suspension arriving next week. I agonised over the 3 litre. but I just couldn't stretch to it. I know this 2.0 has it's downsides, but I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it. Will miss the grunt of my 640d Gran Coupe though! Will be my first Merc and I can't wait (mine's Hyacinth red, black/white nappa inside). Such a looker.

Mercedes never used real leather. They use their own alternative (I forgot what it's called) but it's meant to look and feel like leather. In my opinion, this alternative is neck to neck with real leather. It's comfortable, feels real, and lasts longer. It's also really easy to clean.

Hi, Matt. The signature on the windscreen is for the certain type of countries, where people have to drive such cars quite a lot around local... say, "not quite Belgravia" districts... It is very inconvinient to drive around without windscreen, not to mention, pretty expensive to install the new one (and can be tricky too, even for the specialists windscreen-workers). That's why.

Really hate the "gauge clauster". They could've made it look less like a screen

A display is cheaper to produce then classic gauges, no mechanical bits and pieces, just a circuit board, and with the right marketing they can sell it more expensive.

It IS a screen !! If you have night vision package, dials move out of the way and night vision display occupies the centre of the screen... duh.

Look at the Land Rover screens, in my opinion is the one that better simulates gauges, better than Audi's system. This design approach Mercedes took with the dual screens is, to say the least, dubious.

Great review of an absolutely beautiful car! On another note, I really don't get the opinion that seems to be apparent in many car reviews: if a car is not sporty, it's somehow objectively a bad thing! Not everyone wants a "sporty" car, meaning harsh suspension and a lot of road noise..... Some people, like myself appreciate comfortable cars! And I don't give a damn if it is not sporty! Sincerely, a Volvo driver....

Good review..but when it comes to comparison with bmw,you always say it feels more sporty,how many people knows what a sporty drive is and how many people will buy this type of car for sporty drive..when you say it floats a bit around corners,do a match against a similar price bmw and set lap times..would be great to see the difference and by that we'll see the true difference.

Its a sports coupe so by its very definition it should be sporty to drive and this Merc isn't whereas as Matt pointed out the equivalent BMW is.

To be honest, I'm just happy they included a Modest Mouse song at 1:49. You never see them anywhere, but they are a phenomenal band.

Another great review. Carwow does the best car reviews, lovely car.

Because of China..No shit!There is a longer story to it. Same with BMW and Audi. Remember that in China they don't care about, let say if its a more expensive E-class or C-class. As long they look the same, no one gonna tell the difference. Owning a German car in China shows prestige and wealth ...China is the best marked for cars like that...

i dont think they are related. i live in a city called Nanjing which has 9 million population. And i rarely see coupes from B.B.A. on the streets. Remember Chinese prefer roominess and fuel economy than appearance and performance. Coupes are least options that Chinese buyers consider.

Biggest problem of this model is not having a V8 option. That's why I'm not sure with what car I could possibly replace my old E550 coupe. It just doesn't have any alternatives yet!

the shifter paddles are there because you dont have the usual stick like in bmws or audis automatics

The front end just looks too flat for me, doesn't match the rear end whatsoever. Also these coupes are almost identical.

The wood in the interior looks so much better than the piano black effect on other E-classes.
