I've just watched a couple of American auto reviews of the same car and the difference is quite interesting. This review was informative and unbiased.The Americans however....well,suffice to say that it is obvious that they hate that the Germans make better cars than they ever will.I think they're still haven't gotten over that the Beatles ,the unrivalled greatest band ever, weren't American.

I first started paying attention to Mercedes cars back in '94 or so when my dad and I test drove the face-lifted w124 models that were just coming out. I was basically an E Class enthusiast from then on, but with your reviews I am realizing that the C Class offerings are very viable now, weight and price-wise. I have always loved Mercedes aesthetics, and this and the amazing interiors you showed (minus the leather) are no exception. I enjoy your candid, honest and informative reviews. I would most likely go for lower trim: analog gauges, cloth seats, smaller infotainment, but I would go for the Burmeister Soundsystem, blindspot assist.. doesn't need to be super fancy though, just classy

Bought my e400 cabriolet 2 years now, love it, civilized ride in class, beautiful interior, ok backseat for my shot friends. 2021 new model retains similar interior layout, major diff is touch screen, so keeping mine.

Honestly the best looking convertible on the market right now. Even better than the rr dawn IMO. Honestly this is so so much better than the coupe for some reason.

@@AMGLOVER69 I sold it for a rare Lexus GS F V8 performance that I love. Could not pass it up. The Benz was no problems but I did not keep it very long.

I am picking one up in July Euro Delivery. All options, I'm excited! I no have a 2008 CLK550 convertible and I love it, but the new one has airbags in the back seat for my daughter... I live in Newport Beach, California, so I don't think I will ever close the roof! And I speak German (my parents are from Coburg) and I love your channel...

Previously owned a 2016 e class convertible 220 d in fire red, disappointed when colour was dropped and settled for 2018 version in diamond white with black hat.i was not expecting the massive improvement I experienced in the two models, ..feels like a true executive luxury motor, combined with stunning looks, a real head Turner, although Charlie my German sheperd back seat passenger might have something to do with that !

Another great review. Beautiful car, I agree that it looks a lot better than their sedans that have a little bit of bubbliness to them for my taste. I've never really minded 'fake exhaust' when it's more of a concealed exhaust outlet that works well with the vehicle's lines, which it is very much in this instance. The interior is overall very nice, but the dashboard/center infotainment could have been integrated a little better, it sort of looks like an even larger version of the controversial MMIpad (though I could live with that)

Bob Joe Problem with the regular E Class is it looks so much like a traditional taxi (it's elegant and beautiful, but a taxi design nevertheless). The coupe, especially the convertible, make it look much better.

The lighter colors are going to not look so good after a few months of regular usage! I also agree with Thomas on his assessment of the wind screen on the top of the header! The use of it @ highway speed is a detriment. It is only applicable around town at slower speeds. The very nature of it creates unwanted sounds at higher speeds.

Thomas - I watch lots of car reviews - hands down yours are always the best- well done! Just put a down payment on one of these babies after watching your review multiple times,,, thanks and keep up the great work!

Rear seat heating and 4-zone climate control on a cabriolet? Really nice!

Obviously the wind and wind direction will affect the roof closing, not just the speed of the vehicle. A fine point. Added: Shoulda put it in manual, see if you could get it into its ninth gear.

Hi Thomas, with the 20inch allows, is the ride still smooth, or can you feel road bumps? Do you think there is a big difference in ride smoothness with 19 inch wheels vs 20 inch wheels? Many thanks

Air Cap was designed mainly for rear passengers that's why it isn't in their 2 seat convertibles.

Thomas you should do a segment explaining how the new in cabin exhaust sound enhancement systems work and who uses them.

I wonder when this car will be available in the U.S.? In addition, I noticed Thomas's head is far too close to the top of the windshield frame! This would be problematic for me. I'm sure people of smaller stature won't think of this as a "issue", but for me, anyone @ 6' tall may have a concern.

Strongly leaning toward this for my next car (2020 version obviously). The pop-up door locks are an odd design choice for this day and age though, do you not think?

I have the current E Class Cabrio but hate that they no longer do wood on the lower centre console to match the dash board strips unless you buy the Special Edition. (All now sold!)

Hi , Thomas great video, this was the review I was waiting for. However I missed a quick opinion about the comfort of the seats with the Massage function compared to the regular AMG seats and if Its worth it to take it. And the basic Agility select you think Its a big difference with the Dynamic that you have tested?

From NYC. Great review! Rarely do people mention the 7 inch / 180 mm blind spot that is the "B-Pillar." Coupe hard tops or soft, don't have it. It is a BIG blind spot that the coupe doesn't have. Does that matter? Blind spot indicators that cars can have, say YES, it is important!

Excellent Review Thomas. Many thanks. A big car. Cynically much more expensive, and less compact than a nice C-Class, A5 or 4-Series Cabrio. The designer's bullshit that they wanted diesel & petrol exhausts to be the same is illogical! That bulky stuck-on rear defuser is just a 'design element'. Personally, I don't like the ugly rear defuser. A nice car for the rich, but if you're rich why not just buy an S-Class Cabrio; and you can carry rear passengers properly! Keep up the good work Thomas.

thanks Tim! It may indeed be limited to certain markets. Best is to stick to the standard choice Dinamica & Artico for the seats anyway. They are cooler in summer and warmer in winter times and it is a great sustainable material choice.

Thanks for the response.. yes, I prefer cruelty free / sustainable option - it's just that aragonite silver metallic paint (which looks gold) looks so awesome with cream interior. I just don't think black will work! :(

Autogefühl I have a question. Do you have any idea why Mercedes hasn't come out with an E 500? it's synonym with the E class and has always been around. I think it should be place above the E43 and below E63. as the high-end non AMG Focused on pure comfort and raw silent pulling power as always. I know they've said the new inline 6 can produce as much power as the old v8's but they never said the word "replace" ? I'm waiting for that engine!

Thomas asked if it takes 20 seconds to put the hood up. My stopwatch shows it took 16.85 seconds. Quite quick indeed.

I think his timing is out, it took slightly under 19 seconds from the point when you pressed the button, 4:19 time stamp on the video.

How does this compare to the 6 series Cabrio?

Nice review Thomas. Am a bit torn between the c-class and this model. Think if you do not need the extra space and the latest interior design then the c-class cabriolet might be a good option as design is similar....

Hallo, gibt es einen Unterschied zwischen C und E Klasse Cabrio bei geöffnetem Verdeck? Sitzt man eventuell in der E-Klasse "geschützter" als in der C-Klasse was den Fahrtwind angeht? (Unabhängig von Aircap) Ich frage mich ob die Frontscheibe und Seitenfenstern den Insassen besser abschirmen da sie eventuell höher sind? Vielen Dank

Great fucking review mate

Not so nice and not so good job with the front of the car, especialy the part above the head lights...i can see some big gap, not so estetic. it was better if the hood was until the grill .

Mercedes got everything right with the latest models...excellent interiors probably class leading, good performance and engines, good handling, but the exterior of the car is not that good...i mean the back looks amazing the side looks also good but the front of the car is just awfully boring...
