Mercedes-Benz S CLASS - OIL CHANGE and how to reset service indicator ( S350 W221 3,5l V6 2008 )

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Changing oil on 2008 Mercedes Benz S class W221 gen S350 petrol. It´s a pretty easy and strait forward DIY job and no special tools or lift are required. All the tool sizes and torque specs in the video and below.
I used Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 approved by Mercedes, meeting the 229.31, 229.51, 229.52 specs.
Torque specs:
- oil filter cap - 25 Nm
- drain bolt - 30 Nm
Socket sizes:
- 8 mm socket - splash shield
- 13 mm socket - sump plug
- 23 mm socket - oil filter
This guide works for me. But I´m not a professional, so no guarantee here... Follow this at your own risk.
If you have any questions or constructive coments, let me know.
Take care.

Great video, love the background music. I passed this on to a forum member who was asking about changing his cars fluid. I have a 156 engine so mine is a little different and I wanted him to see how it is done on his engine, and not on mine. After two years as a tech in a MB dealership, your mind can get overwhelmed by all the different engines. I like the way you clean as you go.

@@silentbutdeadly3466 Hi there. There are quite a few places the oil could be dripping from. It could be the drain plug washer, the oil pan gasket, or it could even be comming from higher up. The valve cover, oil filter housing... If you can, give it a good clean and try to see where it's commig from.

Hey, the oil you used MB 229.51, 229.52, 229.31 is suitable for a diesel engine is it a diesel engine? If it's not oil should be MB approved 229.5, not 229.51 or .52 And the oil filter you used is not suitable for this engine as per Mercedes the filter should be made by fleece. Fleece filters are long-lasting and far better under high temp. and high pressure. correct me if am wrong.

  • @DIYProjectX

    @DIYProjectX

    2 жыл бұрын

Hello there. Regarding the oil, 229.51 is a low ash oil suitable for diesel engines with particle filters and petrol engines with extended oil change intervals. This may vary country to country (different sulfur content in fuel), in Eurepe, this is the correct oil. Quote: The engine oil specification MB 229.51 is issued by Mercedes-Benz for gasoline engines and diesel vehicles with/without diesel particulate filter. Or: Oil 5W-30 MB 229.51 is a synthetic multi-grade oil and the optimal lubricant for a Mercedes-Benz engine. It is particularly powerful and can be used in Mercedes Benz petrol and diesel engines with DPF and can be used for extended oil change intervals. Regarding the filter... This is the common type offered for this engine and it has been recomended to me. But I´m not 100% sure here. But I never had a problem with this filter, I use it all the time. Thanks for your comment.

@@GranMastaDee These flushes desolve sludge and carbon deposits, so after using it, I want as much out of the engine as possible. Basically, any contamination of your new oil is bad. But I guess there is always a little bit of old oil left, unless you take the oil pan off. There are videos on youtube comparing suction vs. draining, so you can see for your self. It is not a hughe difference. But for example, my current car BMW E60 does not have a dip stick where I could insert the tube. Take care and thanks for your comments.
