The third-generation hybrid transmission evolved on the basis of the 9G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. The torque converter, clutch and electric motor are housed in the innovative hybrid drive unit. The remarkably compact design was achieved by integrating and connecting the separating clutch, torsional vibration damper and torque converter lock-up clutch within the rotor of the electric motor.

this is not a dual clutch transmision right? i got a gle 53 2023
Interestingingly ZF e-trans replace the torque converter with the electric motor.

@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 You need special adapters to go into the gearbox for filling, but its basically like any other auto gearbox. Drain, replace filter, refill, start engine and with the drive wheels off the ground run through all gears (R-N-D), recheck level and top up if needed. Restart engine and allow gearbox to warm up to about 40c-45c while in park. Recheck level and top up or drain excess fluid if needed.

@@narcissistinjurygiver2932 Yes this past weekend for a customer. Laser do an adaptor kit that has a sump plug with a threaded part that fits most transmission oil fillers.

Yeah actually I like it, it is a perfect transmission for a highway cruiser
This thing is smooth accelerating but its 4-3 and 3-2 downshifts are harsh. It’s not a comfortable drive.

Had the system used CVT in the place of the 9 speed gearbox, the electric motor might have been able to get rid of the torque converter. I'm sure Merc is got its reasons but I'm just saying😉

I agree! Doesnt need a torque converter with a electric motor. Zf 8hp hybrid is clever

The ZF 8hp does seem to avoid the torque converter but uses toothed gears. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fniG04-olLynkqQ.html Suzuki's R06D mild hybrid CVT power-plant is closest to going torque converter free someday. Japanese refinement standards might demand one but should Suzuki decide to introduce this power-plant for India, we can do without the torque converter. The automated manual transmission has prepared us for it. 😅

Piece of crap. Jerks on brand new cars and internet forms are full of these stories and still no fix. Don't buy a benz
