Replacing the thermostat on an R350 that was showing the P0128 code.
This code says that the antifreeze wasn't coming up to temperature fast enough. Turns out is was the sensor, not the thermostat. But, the sensor is part of the thermostat, so I had to change the whole thing...

They are pretty good cars in my opinion... I haven't had much to do on it yet, but I am doing the brakes soon...
What specific tools did you use? I have code P0128 on mine R350 2008

Isn’t the proper name of the double star is torx? That’s what they are listed in my tool kit.

Torx have 6 points, double star have 12... German car manufacturers love the extra points apparently, because my old BMW, my Porsche, my old S series Merc, and this Mercedes all have them throughout!

Ok, so here's an update after looking it up... It's a double square socket that I'm using - 8 points. The double star ones I use on those cars are the male versions with 12 points... So replace double star with double square. :)

The sensor is built-in to the thermostat, so you HAVE to change the whole thing!
