Meng Qi WINGIE 2 Resonator // Demo Tutorial Walkthrough
Музыка
TIMESTAMPS & SUBTITLES AVAILABLE
It's here, I love, and I hope I can spread some extra love with this video about the @MengQiMusic Wingie 2, or Wing 2, as KZread keeps suggesting.
It is a lovely, tiny, portable, stereo resonator, that is giving me more joy and exploration than a lot of many, 20 times more expensive, other instruments.
I am demoing it both with the onboard microphones and some samples coming from the Digitakt.
All the demo is the dry sound of the Wingie, except for the last part, where it is also stated I have added a reverb to the demos you've heard at the beginning.
I hope you will find something useful here, and as always I am more than ready to answer your question, if I can 🧡

Thank you so much! It is still the instrument I come back to when I feel a bit disillusioned by making music and music gear in general
Thank you for your very informative demonstration. I have to admit I was struggling to understand how to use mine. Your tutoring has made it much clearer and I’m so into experimenting with it now.

That's great to hear, and I am happy you already had one: many people think I am trying to sell something, but in reality it was just a little passion project for other fellow Wingie enjoyers out there 🧡

@@SonicVibe I believe the ROAT is untamable by design, but you bring up quite a neat idea of using it WITH the Wingie. That’s brilliant. I like the ROAT specifically for that level of random that would feel forced if I tried to do it myself. I’ll tell you what does get something more melodic out of it, though: run it through a Microcosm. That thing can turn anything into music. That or a good Zoia patch.

Thank you for this very informational tutorial! Really appreciate it! I just received mine but I am not really sure about the stereo input and output part...Am i right to say, the extreme right (red cable) goes out directly into your speaker? How about the extreme left (yellow cable)? Where is it coming from going into the wingie? Right now I only have one cable going out where your red cable is and it goes right into my mixer...
@Dexba
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for checking my tutorial out 🧡 You're right: the red cable is the stereo OUTPUT, while the yellow cable is the stereo INPUT, and the sounds are coming from a Digitakt right outside the screen :) eheh, I even mentioned it at a certain point, because I was sure someone could have been confused by this, but you probably watched the video jumping from chapter to chapter, so you couldn't know that!

Hi @@Dexbai bought a wingie to go with my M8, but im having a hard time sending notes to the wingie, have you managed to control the notes on the wingie with an external controller?
@Dexba
2 ай бұрын
@@morrinsville23 I got an M8 too, and my latest video with the Wingie (the one paired with the Deluge) was a sort of "proof of concept" before setting up a more intricate video with the M8. All you need is a normal 3.5mm stereo cable to go from the MIDI out of the M8 to the MIDI in of the Wingie, then select the MIDI instrument on the M8 and send messages to Channel 1 for the pitch of the left resonator, Channel 2 for the right one, and Channel 3 for both at the same time. You can then refer to the CC written on the faceplate for further modifications! And if you're feeling adventurous, you can map whatever Channel and CC to the number you want via the PC utility (but I don't think it will be necessary) The coolest part about the M8 is the ability to easily run two different sequencers sending (as much as you want) asynchronous sequences to the two sides of the Wingie, while receiving the output audio of the Wingie itself and then adding some FX, or even recording the whole process! A video featuring this process will come out, I just wanted to make it a bit extra special, and that takes a bit more extra time. But the Wingie+M8 combo is amazing, have fun!
Rockin 😄😄😍💗💗👍👍

Great Review! Could you share what Usb C cable are you using? thanks!
@Dexba
Жыл бұрын
Thank you a lot 🧡 This one I'm using is until now my favorite USB-C I've found: the brand is INIU, up to 100W, status led, braided, 2 meters, works for data too. But don't worry too much: the Wingie2 is the contrary of picky, it draws almost no power, and doesn't require data transfer. Right now I am using it a lot with a super short (15cm) L-angled cable in combination with a tiny powerbank the exact size of the Wingie, so I can hide it on the back

@@Dexba what powerbank are you using for the Wingie if you don't mind sharing. I've been using the Anker powercores and they are a bit bulky. Thanks!
@Dexba
Жыл бұрын
@@mmryspaces Sure! The powerbank I am using (more out of convenience than anything else) is from UGREEN, and you can find it just searching for the name and 10000mAh (it's the first to pop up). In general, given the Wingie draws practically nothing, you could easily use the smallest or generally the powerbank you prefer and it would still work for hours :)

@@Dexba Thanks for replying. so a midi input can change the scale? im not sure i understand correctly
@Dexba
Ай бұрын
@didopoken with a midi input you wouldn’t need to operate anything on the Wingie, because you would be controlling the scale (and the notes in general, since scales are just little boxes for always the same notes) with the midi controller of your choice!
