The most funny thing about this video is, that I hear the german commentator in the background, absolutely freaking about about Fabians great performance. :D

Oh yes, he went absolutely nuts. So funny to see. I recommend everyone to search for a video with the german commentator just to listen to his outburst. It's worth it! But Fabian deserved it, so it's okay. ;)

@@sabineb.5616 point being he tried so hard for the past years overcame lots of injuries that also could have ended a career and did everything to get to Rio and finally try it. Then was awarded. His dedication for the sports is what many value a lot in him. He could have been ok with bronze and silver of the years before. No... he wanted to get that gold. Props to him for finally getting it. when you look at how easy it is to miss the bars doing those elements in the air the precision you need as well as the timing... just marvellous.

To start, I'm going to tell you how a horizontal bar in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics is scored. There are two parts to the start value of a routine. The first part is known as the “D” score which evaluates the content in a routine while the “E” score evaluates the exercise presentation related to compositional requirements, technique and body position. The “D” score is based off of the element groups and the skills used in each group. For each routine, the 9 most elite skills, with at least one from each element group and a limit of 5 per group will make up the D score. Horizontal bar has three element groups and a fourth one dedicated to dismounts. The first element group is long hang swings with and without turns, the second is flight elements, the third is in bar and adler elements, and the final element group are the dismounts. In each element group there are different skills that all have varying difficulties ranging from “A” skills being the easiest to “H” skills being the most elite. These skills add tenths to the score based on their difficulties. “A” skills are worth a tenth while “B” skills are worth two tenths and “C” skills are worth three tenths and so on. Each element must be met in every routine and each adds five tenths to the “D” score. So for a judge to find the D score they must first spot that all the elements are included. Once they have done that they must pick the most elite skill from each group that was performed in the routine. They then go find the next 5 most elite skills from any of the elements and add them to the D score. Then the dismount is considered. If the dismount has a difficulty value of “C” then there will be three tenths added to the score. If there is a “D” value dismount or higher then 5 tenths will be added to the score. There are also connection bonuses awarded for connecting different skills in the flight element group based off their difficulties. If a “C” value flight element skill is connected with another “C” value flight element skill or higher then a one tenth connection bonus will be added to the final score. This also applies to a “C” value flight element skill or higher being connected with a “C” value flight element skill. If there is a flight element skill with a “D” value or greater connected with another “D” value flight element skill or greater then a connection bonus of two tenths will be added to the final score. The E score has a start value of 10.0 and will have deductions taken from that based on execution errors, aesthetic errors and technical errors. All skills have a defined perfect performance. All deviations from this correct performance are considered execution or technical errors. The amount of the deduction is determined by the degree of deviation from the correct performance and is classed as a small, medium, or large deduction. The same deduction is applied for each time the error is made. A small error is a one tenth deduction, a medium error is a three tenth deduction, and a large error is a five tenth deduction. If you fall off the apparatus then there is a one point deduction. For aesthetic or technical deviation a small error is classified as any minor adjustments to hand, foot, or body position, any other minor violations against aesthetic and technical performance expectations, and any minor or slight deviation from the perfect end position and from perfect technical execution. A medium error is any distinct or significant deviation from the perfect end position and from perfect technical execution, any distinct or significant adjustments to hand, foot, or body position, and any other distinct or significant violation against aesthetic and technical performance expectations. A large error is any major or severe deviation from the perfect end position and from perfect technical execution, any major or severe adjustments to hand, foot, or body position, any full intermediate swing, and any other major or severe violations against aesthetic and technical performance expectations. Execution errors such as bent knees, bent arms, poor amplitude, etc. are always deducted according to the degree of error or deviation from what is considered perfect performance.A small error is up to a fifteen degree deviation from perfect performance. A medium error any deviation between sixteen and thirty degrees. Large error is thirty degrees of deviation from perfection or greater and if it is forty-five degrees or more then the skill gets no recognition. During swing elements which pass through or end in handstand, deviations from the correct position will be penalized as a fifteen degree deviation or less is no deduction, a sixteen degree deviation to a thirty degree deviation is a small error and will have a one tenth deduction. A medium swing element error is a deviation of thirty one degrees to forty five degrees and will take three tenths of deduction. Any swing element deviation of forty five degrees or greater will be considered a large error and will take five tenths in deductions. A swing element skill with forty five degrees or greater in deviation can also get no recognition. That means that all the deduction would be taken that occured while competing that skill and you won’t get recognition for the skill. For the judge to find the “E” score they will first add up the total deductions for aesthetic, execution, technical and compositional errors. The highest and the lowest sums of total deductions, applied in tenths of a point, for execution, aesthetic, technical and compositional errors are eliminated. The average remaining sums is subtracted from the ten points in order to determine the Final “E” Score. The final score of this apparatus will be established by the addition of the final “D” and final “E” scores.

Cannot wait for Tokyo! Also, any other WAG fans that only really like watching high bar in men's? Vault would be the only other event i enjoy watching. The rest are bleh for me

I wonder why Nile scaled back on the difficulty. He had 7.0 for the teams final, where he scored 15.666, which would have been 0.1 below Hambuechen and landed him in Silver. He also had the best E score in the finals, so he probably could have preformed just as well with the extra 0.2 in difficulty, which if I'm not mistaken was just connecting two skills he did separately here and doing straddle tkatchev to mixed grip instead of regular. Interesting.
