I read an article some illegals from Venezuela are complaining they left the comfy shelters in NY when they were offered a job in FL for $15 an hour plus meal allotment plus free hotel room but we're fired and put on the street for drinking and fighting. My son is deployed to the EU ready to go to war and asking me to send wool socks because the base store, where they have to purchase them, keeps running out.

Simple, if State American tax dollars are paying for the shelters, the dollars should go to NY State American citizens. Non-American citizen shelters should be funded by local charities and other organizations. What are we saying to the world, that we don't care for our own? I wonder if I rolled into a South American country and expected, food, housing and a job. They would look at me like I grew two heads. I also think any monetary aid going to other countries would be better served taking care of non-citizens in the US.

You can't record in shelters if they suspect you are filming the staff who often do ify things or the conditions you will get permanently banned from that group of shelters. Also if your homeless you are in a database which is accessed by all shelters and the other shelters will see a note and probably deny you access also. Most people just keep quite and deal with the insanity and poor treatment. On top of this if you complain to other people that are housed they will often just act like your over exaggerating and call you lazy and an in grateful leech even though some of the conditions actually prevent you from getting out of homelessness and often exasperates the problem or at least keeps you stuck

This is how the shelters work. The more you keep clients in the Shelter the state and city will continue to fund that shelter. Cityforhpes is a joke you can only use it in NYC via HRA once you get a job you are off of Cityforhpes while you are on probation with your job. Before the pandemic the voucher were $1200. Which in NYC you can't get a studio apartment let alone a one bedroom apartment. The housing specialist in the shelter are a joke you have to be on them for them to find you a room that's right rooms no studio or one bedroom. Section 8 via homeless are closed since 2007. The longer you are in the shelters case managers supervisor and staff gets paid. The grants are very small what the state gives to the Shelters. I use to work in the shelters I know what I'm talking about. They will give you a one way bus ticket out of NYC if you got families in other states. This is DHS for you.

People complaining about migrants being moved around from shelter to shelter. First of all, how was they living before they came here? Second of all, people at Bellevue be moved around all the time. I'm pretty sure this is some kind of humiliation ritual for the USA because at the inception of COVID, the US went into it's 3rd international bankruptcy so the central bankers and crew are unrolling some kind of diabolical plan.

Those men live in what looks like a jail. At least have a room with phones so they can look for work, a permanent place, their doctors, or their pharmacy. Now the Xbox well IDK about that, but at least cards and some board games. I can only imagine what their sleeping quarters and bathrooms look like. So sad the way homeless Americans is treated in this country. They show you the mental people or addicts but that is not the entire homeless population. There are working people that can’t afford rent and they have families to support. They aren’t looking for handouts but are asking for help with the housing crisis and inflation. This is sickening to see. Send all those people back to wherever they came from and I’m so serious because this has gotten way out of hand.

Send the entitled Americans to the tents and take away their welfare and single unit rooms. Let them get a tent and sleeping bags. They can play the xbox by sharing it with 300 others and they can get 3 meals by sleeping in a tent with 12 others.

They are right! Why should the indigenous citizen be homeless for the convenience of immigrants?

I’ve been on a waiting list for 2.5 years I don’t blame them. Worked my whole life and paid taxes and now I need a smidge of help. My great grandfather came over from Sicily never saw his parents again at the age of 16. If we were sitting pretty with no money or societal problems that’s one thing. We have Americans rotting in the streets some offered their lives for our safety. I have been considering remigrating back to Italy. Y’all can enjoy your corporation

While I agree with most folks here that there shouldn’t be disparity in treatment, I think they are doing this because the migrant center is a 4 day stay versus the “indefinite” stay at the shelter. So, they’re trying to discourage homeless from wanting to stay permanently, since that also does not solve the homeless crisis.

Put the migrants where the citizens are living. He has them on cruise ships, .hotels and apartments with out tax dollars.

We the citizen's are paying for the migrant centers. The homeless just get the exact treatment. Evey American should have a home over thier head a meal and a safe place to sleep You can bet he wont get my vote next time around.

This is fucked up the country really need to get their priorities straight....my opinion of this is the country doesn't want homeless ppl to be comfortable so they are forced to work for their luxuries instead of given them...while this country shows the new comers the lies of luxury that is available to them...

And Xboxes, and a great selection of beverages and food that they eat from their own country. Almost like a paid vacation. NYC what a crap hole.

I get what the gentleman are saying but at the same time they seem like able bodied bums trying to live off the system, like please go be productive and become independent so you won’t have to run to the news begging for things

Because of cultural necessities these grown men never learned any job keeping skills or a higher education. Only drugs, basketball, pimpin and begging. Its black cultures fault for not instilling real life scenarios for self improvement. Example ,painting, wall plastering, plumbing, barbering,accounting, sanitation, home improvement etc.

This isnt new, non 🇺🇸 usa citizens, homeless have always been at the bottom, they do treat non citizens better , i lived it for 2 years during the pandemic from March 2020- current. A non usa 🇺🇸 citizen got housing prior to me, they told me no housing available but she got housing i was behind her in the line and over heard the worker tell her to come for an appointment the next day. I wait about 2 years for housing. And the projects im in house drug addicts, alcoholic, gang violence/activities etc… not a good place.
