Girl shoot the dm right ahead. I'm a mechanical engineer and I learned so much physics that I am ready to spew out at any second. Here's a teaser: Hertz can be used to measure any periodical event (so anything that repeats). It can also be written as 1/s. So if you have something that happens regularly 4 times per second, it happens at 4 Hz. If something happens once every two seconds its happening at 0,5 Hz. You can measure anything from pendulums to alternating current to the vibration of atoms. Frequency in Hertz is inverse to cycle time (the time it takes to complete one event). So the thing that happens at 4 Hz has a cycle time of 1/4s or 0,25s.

18:50 I love when Brittany starts sharing about her relationship with church and religion. When she’s talking about fellowship and camaraderie in a church and missing that, I super relate. I couldn’t help but want to add: As soon as the fellowship aspect of church is gone for you-when you lose the connection and feel like an outcast and leave the cliques and circles- it is so easy to see the church for its core and bones. Suddenly it’s all out the window for you, the spotlight is on the truth about the church, and it is so easy to turn away and walk out. This to me shows that fellowship is a people thing and a necessary people thing at that, and we need it because we are humans, not because of a religion or church organization.

No bc let me explain the frequency thing in normal people words for you: Frequency is the reciprocal of period right? So one period is just how often something occurs. So if a pendulum were to swing back and forth one whole time to it’s original position, then the time that took would be it’s period. Frequency is how often the period repeats. To make it make sense from an electrical standpoint: if it takes an electrical current 3 seconds to travel to the end of a wire and back, the period is 3 seconds, if we wanted to know how often that occurs ( the frequency ) it’s just 1/3. Also Hertz is a unit of energy bc the stuff we can derive from it include units of power and other variables included w energy. Fair warning I am not a physicist just a high schooler who loves AP physics but I hope this helps if you see this😭😭 love you Brittney🖤

Engineer here. Hertz or Hz, is a unit of frequency. They call it a standard cause it could be used for anything. Its unit is in per seconds or 1/seconds. So you could say I breath about at a frequency of 1hz. The shorter the interval between “events” the larger the frequency, because you can fit more events into a second. It’s a commonly used term in the description of audio because the difference in pitch of a note is actually the difference of frequency. That’s why your headphones’ range is usually described in hz. To get even more specific, hz can be used to measure wavelength. Because through science we know what the speed of sound and the speed of light is. And if you wanted to know the distance between peaks in any wave (measured in wavelength), be it microwave, green light, B flat, or car horn. You can simply, take the speed of light or sound (depending on what you want to figure out) and divide it by the hz measurement of that thing. Examples: yellow 5.2 x 10^14 hz or 520 Terahertz, middle C on a piano is about 261 hz Real physicists you can correct me if I’ve got something super wrong, I’m simply just a humble engineer.

Appalachian music is SO interesting. Took a History of Rock 'n Roll class in college, and WOO BOY. The music actually was primarily passed down orally, with so many different iterations, and really spoke to the struggle of immigrants and enslaved peoples, was largely anti-capitalist and protest songs. THEN CAME THE CARTER FAMILY. They combed through the mountains and claimed (stole) a LOT of these songs, and capitalized from them, and still fuckin' do. The history is crazy. There are some really good histories/articles out there!

Hertz always measures how many times something happens in one second. Whether it's vibrations, cycles, or pulses, if you're talking about Hertz, you're counting how many times that action occurs within one second. So, if something is 1 Hertz, it happens once per second; if it's 100 Hertz, it happens 100 times per second, and so on.

Resident Broski Nation Nerd here: Hertz mainly represents sound and vibrational frequency. If you strike a tuning fork tuned to 12 hz, it will vibrate and make a sound at that frequency. It’s also used to measure the power output of headphones and earbuds. Similarly, the Ohm represents how much power a headphone needs. Apple earphones are 32 ohms, and can be plugged into anything. However, Seinheiser HD600 are 300 ohms, and require an amplifier. I speak in all of this from a hobbyist audio enthusiast standpoint.

It’s hugely field dependent! Your answer makes sense as someone into audio- I’m an astrophysicist and Hz usually means what frequency of light we’re looking at, or how fast things are spinning. She’s right, Hertz can really be anything that can be described in cycles :D

Oddball engineer here (aka broski nation physicist)! TLDR: Nerdy Science Stuff You were spot on about Hz! They can measure a cycle of anything. An easy way to think about it is your car measures RPM (revolutions per minute) which is how many times your engine turns over (aka cycles) in a minute. Hz measures cycles per second whereas RPM is per minute. They’re both measurements of frequency (aka how frequently something happens within a certain time frame) and everything in the universe has a vibrational frequency so you can use Hz to measure basically everything.

Constant yearning is somethething ive dealt with since childhood. For me i think its a mixture of emotional neglect from my parents and neurodivergence. During my last situationship i was wondering why i havent fixated on any celebrities or characters in a while- and once we broke up the fixations came back- i realised i never truly liked this person, i was just fixated on them. Ive always had fixations throughout my life , and when i fixate on men those tend to be the worst situationships for me. I think us who are prone to fixations need to identify which fixations are healthy and which are unhealthy because healthy fixations can bring ao much passion and joy and even creativity, but unhealthy fixations can consume your every minute lf every day and ultimatley leave you feeling empty.

Miss Broski if you enjoy Lana Del Ray I highly and humbly recommend Marina Diamandis Her most recent album 'Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land' is honestly such a wonderful experience of a feminine, spiritual awaking and her Electra Heart album consists of such a great and interesting concept of female archetypes (and would also be a nice start to get introduced to electro and alternative pop) All her albums gradually go through heartbreak and self-loathing, healing, and finding peace with yourself and I believe it would be a lovely experience

As a very motivated woman myself, who also has a big personality (and is diagnosed on the spectrum), I've had a really hard time making lasting relationships. I never thought I'd find anyone that really loved me for me and didn't want me to change. I found someone who doesn't make me want to dim my light. He praises my light and everything weird and intense about me. I know I'm still young, but I just know you'll find someone who loves everything about you. Don't let the horrible things you've experienced taint that reality and prevent you from letting it happen ♥️

Southland in the Springtime by the Indigo Girls (lesbian singer/songwriters) makes me think of this. I’m from a part of the world where my region’s government (not national) are really making such shocking laws and policies that don’t reflect my values as a queer left-leaning woman who values diversity, public programs, etc. At the same time I live next to one of the most beautiful national parks in the world and appreciate so much about where I live (my city, most people where I live, the natural beauty…) I’d love to get a tattoo of our regional flag, but unfortunately the message it would communicate to most folks would be that I agree with these professed political/social values often associated with our regional government rather than all the amazing things that I love about this place.
