Mel Gibson sentenced in battery case

Mel Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from a fight involving his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva Friday. Gibson received 36 months informal probation and about $500 in fines. He must also complete 16 hours community service and a 52-week domestic violence counseling program.

+Omg Another incoherent statement from an irrational teen-aged girl, who thinks she knows something. There's no hypocrisy here at all, this is a case of "judge not, lest you be judged". That means that those who judge others (as assholes here judge Mel, yet defend the selfish GOLDDIGGER he was married to), deserve to be judged themselves, maybe you've heard the expression, "What goes around, comes around"?? In other words, the only hypocrite here is you. Then again, anyone who goes by the name of "Omg", is not someone I should expect a lot of intelligence from in the first place!! Keep your name-calling to yourself, asshole.

You are an amazing actor and director. Now as a person and a christian you are flawed , as indeed everyone of us is . I myself had anger issues among other things and I received help through the church and went on to help others in a ministry . The Roman Catholic church is very experienced in this sort of thing I believe . Spiritual help is the way forward for you I believe. You need help with anger and the addiction to alcohol before it messes up your life even further . Please if someone who knows you sees this , pass this message on. I believe it is the only way you can be helped. Counselling is good , but it only helps to some extent. I pray to God to bless you and help you out of this hole you have dug for yourself . Kayte

When the behavior is that horrendous and abusive...verbally, physically etc. yes we should judge, whether it be Mel Gibson or our neighbor next door ! Saying nothing and "minding our own business" is what perpetuates abusive behavior. That's not the right response ! As a society we have an obligation to call out immoral behavior, especially because there are victims and they have a right to justice. If the offender happens to be high profile, it's all the better in this case to call out unacceptable violence. Mel Gibson doesn't get to hide behind his fame. He did the crime and he should be called out just like Average Joe. In this case yes, he gets called out on live TV. Such is the cost of being famous ! Average Joe wouldn't get called out so publicly, but then he wouldn't have the money Mel does to easily pay his fines or bail. There are advantages & disadvantages no matter who you are...rich or average. But we should all be equal, at least in so far as being called out for our crimes. We know too well that the punishment is often unequal and based on how fat our wallets are, as Mel here is another sad example of.

Atrocities are definitely excused by artistic virtue. Look at Polanski, he got away with child rape, because he made "Rosemary's baby". That's why OJ got off, because of all those touchdowns. This should be codified in law, that you can get a free get out of jail free card for murder or rape if you have completed a certain number of touchdowns, hit films, or platinum albums.

I know that this is a very old video, just looking up stuff, because of his new movie coming out. I have watched all of Mel's movies. I have always loved his movies and it is sad to me that his life has been so hard over the past few years. Everyone is so judgemental of him and they honestly don't know what was going on behind the scenes. They don't know what kind of secret stuff he put up with here. I don't know either. All I would like to say is that we all have done things that we wouldn't want others to see. Nobody is perfect! The only one person who lived a perfect life on this earth was Jesus Christ. We, as people should not delve into Mel's life. We are not God. We should leave him alone to live his life in peace. Domestic violence is terrible, but sometimes people, when taunted or pushed can do things that we they are ashamed of and know isn't right. Personally, I will still go watch his movies, because I think he is a brilliant actor and will always be a big fan of his. Good luck, Mel! I only have best wishes for your life in the future and hope everything turns around. I do plan on watching this new movie that is coming out. I've watched all the other movies, why change now? :)
