Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson[3] AO (born January 3, 1956) is an American actor, film director and producer. He is best known for his action hero roles, particularly his breakout role as Max Rockatansky in the first three films of the post-apocalyptic action series Mad Max and as Martin Riggs in the buddy cop action-comedy film series Lethal Weapon. Born in Peekskill, New York, Gibson moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia when he was 12 years old. He studied acting at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, where he starred opposite Judy Davis in a production of Romeo and Juliet. During the 1980s, he founded Icon Entertainment, a production company, which independent film director Atom Egoyan has called "an alternative to the studio system". Director Peter Weir cast him as one of the leads in the World War I drama Gallipoli (1981), which earned Gibson a Best Actor Award from the Australian Film Institute, as well as a reputation as a serious, versatile actor.
In 1995, Gibson produced, directed, and starred in Braveheart, a historical epic, for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, the Academy Award for Best Director, and the Academy Award for Best Picture. He later directed and produced The Passion of the Christ, a biblical drama that was both financially successful and highly controversial. He received further critical notice for his directorial work of the action-adventure film Apocalypto (2006), which is set in Mesoamerica during the early 16th century. After several legal issues and controversial statements leaked to the public, Gibson's public image plummeted significantly, affecting his careers in acting and directing. His career began seeing a resurgence with his performance in Edge of Darkness (2010) and Jodie Foster's The Beaver (2011). His directorial comeback after an absence of 10 years, Hacksaw Ridge (2016), won two Academy Awards and was nominated for another four including Best Picture and Best Director for Gibson, his second nomination in the category.

Nothing surprises me about Mel. He is multi talented, passionate, authentic (which is refreshing for a celebrity) and he has the foresight and courage to pave his own path. He has lived a rich life of success & struggle, and despite his personal challenges and the celebrity inner circle blackballing him, he continually pulls himself up and stands strong and follows his passion and truth. What a legacy he will leave. Mel Gibson is Braveheart in the real sense. Keep Shining your light Mel 💕
So, Mel Gibson had difficult periods, unfortunately, in his personal life, as everyone has sometimes. However, he remains one of my favorite actors!
I'm a big fan of mel Gibson,love the fact that his just human and his transparency,lols his way to crazy to take on the part of James Bond, that's not his type of character to play ... his on a level of his own, one no one can ever replace, I adore him as imperfect as he is.... I find myself praying for him at times he sure left a mark on me....
I was lucky enough to meet him at a meet and greet, he was absolute legend no airs and graces , just down to earth.
His movies Braveheart and the Passion of the Christ. Looking forward to The Resurrection.

How many times pal did you have to mention the word racism ? That word has been literally overused so much and just ran into the ground. That people are tired of hearing it. I would rather someone call me a couple racist slurs and not really be racist than someone that doesn't call me names...but really is racist. 😊 Mel Gibson is an an amazing actor and director. As for as "racism" is concerned only him and God know that. He's apologized for it, so people need to move on. But in today's society, some people just won't do that. Sad ! P.S. It's absolutely amazing that he paid his ex wife 400 million dollars. Holy Smokes...was she worth that much Mel ? 🙄🙄

That’s the price of being a celebrity. When you have bad moments they go viral for the whole world to see and unfortunately it can ruin you. I think for Mel too, it’s more than just the racist remarks it was the Jewish slanders he made too that affected people. Even if he was drunk or not it’s still not acceptable.

Mel Gibson is a very versatile actor.

Ive always found Mel Gibson to have true star quality and thought something seemed out of place when all the negative news came to light about his comments about Jews , which have turned out to be druken comments , said by a bipolar man , which i dont believe to be a true picture of Mel Gibson . As i only have myself to compare to as i myself am a recovering alcoholic thats bipolar and have said many a thing that was well out of order in my drinking days that just dont cross my mind these days . Alcohol doesn't make an alcoholic see or talk the truth , its quite the opposite . Now mel is sober i can truly believe that mel that mel wants to speak , see and show more truth than ever he has before.
