The perfect accentuation he does with the bass is, what makes the feel of the song. Guitar is great but the vibes is the rhythm here.

I love how his parts are meant to perfectly complement the rest of the music, like it’s not just a set groove the whole time. He’s more of a percussionist than just a drummer, which is awesome

what's even more impressive is he isn't even doing it to show off, if you notice in the studio version you don't hear it, there is a hang in the percussion and that is his way of keeping time. the composition of this is so tight that it fits right in though. like it's supposed to be there.

I'm not one to say shit like this, but here it is. Tim Henson is a visionary. Clay Aeschliman is a god. Scott LePage is the messenger. Clay Gober slaps. It takes a whole team of kick-ass dudes to pull shit like this together, and there are more than enough reasons this song is called G.O.A.T.

This dude rocks, plain and simple. That cheeky little clap at 2:45 is just perfect. He sneaks so much « hi-tech » stuff in, blink and you’ll miss it. Class. I always thought he was rocking a double kick pedal, turns out he’s just badass. Respect.

For anyone not getting this- it was a joke, I know they use real drums- as shown here. I was making fun of the people who say they only use drum machines, etc now. Polyphia themselves have a video with this title showing their drummer play one of the songs from the new album
No lie, the amount of sound space Clay leaves for the other members to play is increadible.
the way he creates space is unlike any drummer i've heard. it's always so difficult to get a drummer to stop playing for even one second in a song lol

2:40 Those 2 quick slides on the dual crash are some of the little things that make this guy so fun to watch/listen to. Incredible
I can say with all honestly I love this far more than the studio recording. The natural drum tones are so much more appealing.

I don't know how many amazing bands I've discovered through MEINL Cymbals demonstrations, or even whether that's how I found Polyphia, but these are uniformly showchases of amazing bands.
The sound quality is amazing wtf congrats to the audio engineer
I love how every instrument in this song leads up to their own 'final form' moment to a climactic kameyameya in my ears and that it works perfectly.
perfect song to demonstrate cymbals, so many dynamics and they're the star of the drums. Well chosen Meinl!

Wow.. this dude's understanding of polyrhythms and ability to switch time signatures.. is quite impressive. He's no Danny Carey of course.. but he's also one of the only drummers I've found that instantly made me want to compare him to Danny.
I can really see Clay being one of the greatest drummers ever to live.

Watching Clay and Polyphia play this live will forever be one of my all time concert/show experiences. The whole band is so sick and Clay kills it with the Trap Hihat trills.

The consistency of quality of your metric modulating between duple and triple is outstanding.

The ability to resist the pressures of filling in the spaces is what makes his playing different. Brilliant work! Also, 1:50 should've been a higher shot angle. We needed to see that fill in all its glory.
